AN INTOXICATING FORMULA The heart and soul of the Liberty is Subaru s unsurpassed horizontally-opposed Boxer engine which is designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than traditional engines. 16 DYNAMIC SAFETY THE 2016 LIBERTY INCORPORATES ADVANCED SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES BUILT AROUND THE THREE PILLARS OF PROTECTIVE, PREVENTATIVE AND PREDICTIVE SAFETY. Safety starts with a chassis and a body frame reinforced to increase frontal, side and rear crash safety. The shock absorbing bonnet design and designated crumple zones direct impact energy away from the reinforced passenger safety cell, while seven airbags - including dual front, side, curtain and driver s knee airbags help protect occupants. Front seats have Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR) and pre-tensioners, and rear seats have Automatic Emergency Locking Retractors (A/ELR). Safety designed to help prevent loss of control is delivered via improved Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) which constantly monitors vehicle movement, engaging a range of technologies when required. 18 INBUILT INTUITION EYESIGHT DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM AVAILABLE ACROSS THE ENTIRE LIBERTY RANGE They say that to be forewarned, is to be forearmed. That s the philosophy behind the EyeSight driver assist system offering a superior level of reassurance, with both field-of-vision and distance improved around 40 per cent 1. Forming part of Subaru s Vision Assist technology EyeSight is a second pair of eyes that monitor the road ahead and recognise potentially dangerous driving situations. Using three-dimensional images captured by cameras mounted at the top of the windscreen, EyeSight provides audible and visual warnings to prompt the driver to take action. EyeSight will also apply automatic braking intervention, when necessary, to help avoid or reduce the severity of a detected frontal collision. New features include enhanced stereo camera performance and images at all speeds and better performance in poor weather conditions Improvements based on comparison with previous generation EyeSight system.

19 Pre-Collision Braking provides automatic braking to help avoid or reduce the severity of detected frontal accident impacts. Should the driver be distracted, or just not register the risk of a collision, braking will be automatically applied when a potential frontal collision is recognised by EyeSight. Pre-Collision Brake Assist recognises a potential frontal impact, alerts the driver and assists the driver by applying full braking force in a detected emergency-braking situation. Pre-Collision Throttle Management reduces available acceleration when the system detects objects in front of the vehicle, which it is likely to impact. Engine output is restricted to reduce the possible impact force and frontal impact damage, and to help minimise injury should the driver mistakenly accelerate. Adaptive Cruise Control maintains the speed set by the driver, but also regulates the vehicle s speed in order to maintain a set distance from the car in front. The driver can select from different distances and the EyeSight system will automatically regulate the vehicle s speed in line with the traffic flow. Lane Sway and Departure Warning monitors the vehicle s position within the road lane markings and sounds a warning when it recognises the potential for the vehicle to unintentionally move out of its lane, or when swaying within the lane is recognised.
