In such cases, the colour Maxi DOT display warns the driver to take a break. Safety HANDS-FREE PARKING The Octavia s state-of-the-art hands-free parking doesn t just give you greater comfort and orientation while parking. It gives you confidence to park like a pro every time. Hands-free parking minimises the hassle of parking in tight spots by automatically selecting an appropriate parking place in a row of parallel or perpendicularly parked vehicles. When parallel parking, it only needs a space 60 cm longer than the car itself. In today s crowded cities and spacestarved streets, hands-free parking is a blessing indeed. REAR-VIEW CAMERA Enjoy easier parking by equipping your car with the rear-view camera located on the handle of the 5 th door. It monitors the space behind the car and indicates driving lanes, based on the vehicle width. AFS (ADAPTIVE FRONTLIGHT SYSTEM) The system is automatically activated by the light sensors, which switch the headlights on in low light conditions. The AFS headlight control system changes the geometry of the light beam, adapting the light pattern on the road to different driving situations like: Load,Steering angle, Rain and Speed.The AFS optimises illumination and enhances safety by enabling quicker response to obstacles. It gradually shifts the light patterns so that it does not disturb the driver. CORNERING FOG LAMPS This function switches on the right or left fog light separately - depending on the steering angle or by switching on the turn signal lights for the relevant side. Corner function is incorporated in the front fog lamps. They illuminate blind spots created by dark areas around the corners by lighting the space the car is about to turn into. This improves visibility for the driver without dazzling oncoming obstacles.

You can equip your car with up to eight of them. HEAD AIRBAGS Upon activation, head airbags create a wall protecting the front and rear occupants against head injury. FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS While the driver airbag is enclosed in the steering wheel, the passenger airbag is located in the dashboard. Performance TRANSMISSION Depending on the engine version, the car can be equipped with a manual 6-speed or an automatic 6-speed as well as 7-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox). ENGINE The Octavia features its third generation petrol engine in two variants, designed exclusively for the new MQB platform. A 4-cylinder, 1.4 TSI/110 kw, and a powerhouse 1.8 TSI/132 kw petrol engine. These engines aren t just lighter and fuel-efficient, but also reduce CO2 emissions. The 2.0 TDI/ 105kW diesel engine, also from the MQB family, offers high power output, is more refined, fuel-efficient, and features lower emissions as well.
