4 GETTING STARTED HEADREST ADJUSTMENT STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENTS Height adjustment Tilt Lock knob Forward/Rearward adjustment To adjust the headrest rearward, pull the headrest all the way forward, then release. Pull headrest gently forward to allow adjustment to 3 different positions. Telescopic (if euipped) NOTE: Do not adjust while driving. 1. Pull the lever down. 2. Set the tilt angle and/or telescopic distance (if euipped). 3. Pull the lever up. OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM REAR SEAT FOLDING Passenger air bag off indicator The occupant classification system will disable the right front passenger s air bag under certain conditions (light on). 6 FEATURES AND CONTROLS CENTRAL DOOR LOCK SWITCH OUTSIDE MIRRORS All doors will lock. All doors will unlock. Adjusting Move the selecting switch to the right or left. Middle position: Lock the control. Depress the appropriate direction ( ) on the switch. POWER WINDOW Open Press down the window switch. Close Pull up the window switch. Auto down (Driver s side only) Press fully down to open window automatically. Auto up (Driver s side only) Pull fully up to close window automatically. POWER WINDOW LOCK SWITCH The driver can disable the power window switches on the passenger doors. Lock Press the switch (pressed in). Unlock Press the switch again (pressed out). INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR Indicator ON/OFF button Compass display Compass control button Day/night rearview mirror Pull the day/night lever toward you to reduce glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you during night driving. Auto dimming mirror (if euipped) The mirror defaults to the ON position whenever the ignition switch is turned on. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the automatic dimming function off. The mirror indicator light will turn off. HomeLink Wireless Control System HomeLink Wireless Control System can conveniently replace up to three handheld radio-freuency transmitters, such as for garage doors, estate gates, and home lighting. Controls for HomeLink are located in the lower portion of the inside rearview mirror. Refer to your Owner s Manual for detailed instructions. Press the front windshield defrost control. 2. Set the temperature control to the warmest setting. 3. Set the fan speed to the highest setting. REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER Pressing the OFF button will place the system in the off mode. Front blower will turn off. Outside (fresh) air position is selected. Vented air will be at last set temperature. Recirculated air position Outside (fresh) air position MODE SELECTION Press the DUAL button to operate the driver s and passenger s side temperature individually. 10 MODE MODE MULTIMEDIA STANDARD RADIO Audio mode BLUETOOTH PHONE OPERATION Phone setup (pairing phone) 1. Push the SETUP button. 2. Select PHONE item by rotating the TUNE knob w, then push the knob. Press POWER button to turn radio on. TUNING / LISTENING TO CHANNELS 1. Press FM/AM or XM. 2. Rotate Audio Control knob to desired channel. NOTE A clear view of the southern sky helps to ensure XM radio reception. SETTING PRESET MEMORY BUTTONS (FM/AM/XM ) Press and hold any preset button (1-6) until audible beep is heard to store current channel. ADJUSTING THE SOUND CONTROL 1. Press TUNE knob. 2. Select Bass, Middle, Treble, Fader, Balance by pressing on TUNE knob. Rotate TUNE knob to adjust. 3. Press TUNE knob when done. STEERING WHEEL AUDIO CONTROL e r VOLUME Raises or lowers speaker volume. w SEEK/PRESET Change station. e MODE Change the audio source. r MUTE Mute the sound. Select TUCSON from the Bluetooth device list on your mobile phone and input passkey displayed on the screen. Continue pairing. 6. After pairing is completed, transfer of the contact list* to the audio system will begin (if your phone is supported). Some phones may reuest approval to download contact list* to the audio system. ( If approval is not granted, the phone may freuently disconnect or not download contact list*.) This process may take a few minutes depending on the phone make, model, and number of entries in the contact list*. *The contact list display may start with either first or last name depending on the phone make and model. 12 FEATURES AND CONTROLS FUEL FILLER DOOR PANORAMA SUNROOF NOTE After adding fuel, always reinstall the fuel cap onto the filler neck by rotating it clockwise until it clicks. Failure to do this may result in the Check Engine light illuminating. Sliding the sunroof Open Press switch rearward. Press switch rearward past the detent to open completely. Close Press switch forward with safety switch. Press switch forward past the detent to close completely. NOTE Do not leave the roller blind closed while the sunroof is open. 13 FEATURES AND CONTROLS SEAT WARMER INTERIOR LIGHTS OFF HIGH LOW ON Map and dome light. Push desired switch to warm the seat. DOOR Map and dome light will turn on when any door is open except tailgate. OFF The lights stay off at all times except when individually turned on. CLOCK ADJUSTMENT REARVIEW CAMERA With Standard Radio With Radio Off 1. Press and hold SETUP button w. 2. Rotate knob to adjust HOUR. Press knob to enter. 3. Rotate knob to adjust MINUTE. Press knob to enter. The rearview camera will activate when the ignition switch is ON and the shifter lever is in the R (Reverse) position. Rearview display With Navigation Radio 1. Press and hold button. 2. GPS time: The time received from the GPS will be displayed automatically. 3. Clock type: Selects the clock type shown as the entire screen when the system power is turned off. 4. Time Format: When the clock type is digital, it converts the time display between 12 hour and 24 hour format. 22 HYUNDAI TUCSON 23

14 FEATURES AND CONTROLS AUX, USB AND ipod PORT TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) Use the jack to connect an external audio device and listen to it through the audio system in your vehicle. NOTE To operate your ipod through the vehicle s audio system, a Hyundai adapter cable is reuired. This cable can only be purchased at your local Hyundai dealer. ipod is a trademark of Apple, Inc. Low Tire Pressure Indicator / TPMS Malfunction Indicator LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR Illuminates if one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. TPMS MALFUNCTION INDICATOR Blinks for approximately one minute, then remains illuminated when there is a malfunction with the TPMS. Inspect all tires and adjust tire pressure to specification. If the lamp remains illuminated, have the system checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. HOOD RELEASE Opening the hood Pull the release lever to unlatch the hood. w Raise the hood slightly. e Pull the secondary latch inside of the hood center and lift the hood. w e 24 HYUNDAI TUCSON 25

15 DRIVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION P (Park) : Press the brake pedal to move the shift lever from P. R (Reverse) N (Neutral) : Gears disengaged. D (Drive) : The transmission will shift through the gears automatically. Sport mode Move the shift lever from D to the left gate to select. Move the shift lever forward (+) to upshift or rearward ( ) to downshift. ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) The ESC system is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. To turn the ESC off, press the ESC OFF button. ESC off indicator will display in instrument cluster. To turn ESC on, press it again. System defaults to ON position at start. MANUAL TRANSMISSION ECO SYSTEM Active ECO System (Automatic transmission) Active ECO system helps improve fuel economy by controlling the engine and transmission for optimum efficiency. Press to activate. An LED will illuminate on the button and the ECO indicator will illuminate in the Instrument Cluster. Press again to deactivate. NOTE When operating in ECO mode, you may notice a slight change in operating characteristics. ECO shift manual transmission The or symbol is displayed along with the recommended gear number, indicating you should upshift or downshift for optimum fuel efficiency. 26 HYUNDAI TUCSON 27

16 DRIVING AWD LOCK CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM During off-road or inclement weather conditions, press the AWD LOCK switch to drive in full-time AWD. This will divide the power between the front and rear wheels (only when the vehicle speed is under 19 mph). The AWD LOCK indicator light on the instrument cluster will illuminate. Cruise indicator w Cruise set indicator DOWNHILL BRAKE CONTROL (DBC) The Downhill Brake Control (DBC) helps the vehicle maintain a slow speed on a steep hill without the driver depressing the brake pedal. e To set a cruising speed 1. Press and the CRUISE indicator will illuminate in the instrument cluster. Accelerate to desired cruising speed (above 25 mph). 2. Toggle switch e down and remove your foot from the accelerator pedal. To accelerate or decelerate Toggle switch e up to increase set cruising speed. Toggle switch e down to decrease set cruising speed. To cancel cruising speed Press w or press brake pedal, or press ON/OFF button. NOTE When activated, vehicle speed will be reduced. Please refer to your Owner s Manual for further information.
