A GRAPHILOR bursting disc is a safety component intended to protect against accidental over or vacuum by instanteneous opening at a pre-detered bursting. GRAPHILOR GRAPHILOR 3 is a unique material: insensitive to thermal shocks, very high resistance to corrosion, chemically inert, reliable and economic. Depending on the series, rupture discs are made of impregnated or unimpregnated GRAPHILOR 3, or GRAPHILOR N which is composed of different varieties of isostatically molded graphite. Quality system Pagny-sur-Moselle plant has ISO certification for environmental respect, ISO 9001 for quality assurance, OHSAS for Occupational Safety and Health, and the products are manufactured in conformity with European Directive DESP 97/23 CE. The TÜV has authorized our Quality Control department to issue product inspection certificates. For some series, we can supply certificates according to British standard BS 2915 (1990). All our products are accepted by our Quality Control department, any other reception will be invoiced for an extra after it has been precisely defined. 3 Rupture plug Single-pice discs Discs with removable membranes A complete range of rupture discs The norms The discs are designed in accordance with Standard BS 2915 and the tests are carried out in accordance with Directive EN ISO GRAPHILOR rupture discs and safety accessories are produced in conformity with European Directive 97/23/CE, category IV, module B and module D for group I gases. As a manufacturer, the EN ISO directive requires Mersen to take responsibility for the design of our discs. 6 Traceability, markings and coding Traceability and marking. On disc supports with removable membranes, a label indicates : The active diameter The number of bolts The tightening torque The direction of bursting The diameter and number of bolts On single-piece membranes and discs, the label indicates : The active diameter The series number The bursting The batch number of the graphite The standard used The number of bolts The tightening torque The direction of bursting The diameter and number of bolts The direction of installation The CE marking A document, available on request, allows you to detere the active diameter of the disc. Coding Each disc has a reference code. This code is composed of 12 alpanumeric characters, as defined below: --/--/---/----- = Disc/Series/Diameter/Pressiure Example disc n = disc /20= Series 2/ 150 = diameter150 / 1000= 10 bars of imum Exemple disque n = disc /40= Series 4/ -50 = diameter 50 / --035= 0.35 bars of imum 5

7 Technical informations Assembly of a rupture discs The first step is to insert the disc or the supports and membrane assembly, with their rings and gaskets, between two pipe flanges The following are general recommendations to ensure correct installations : Use flanges with flat faces in standard sizes. The flanges must be perfectly clean and flat Respect the pipe flange bore indicated for each series Center the gaskets on the discs in order to even distribution of force Do not change the material of the gaskets without consulting the factory Respect the mounting direction of the disc The label must remain visible after installation of the disc Apply recommended torque indicated in the installation manual To prevent the projection of fragments after disc rupture, a protective basket screen may be installed If the expelled gas is flammable or toxic, install an appropriate device allowing for safe evacuation of the gas after disc rupture The operating must not exceed 80% of the Verify the correct installation and seal integrity of the disc at least once a year The installation and commissioning manual supplied with each disk summarizes all the installation and utilization instructions. 6

The safety valve would operate after the bursting of the safety disc. In parallel The effective burst of the disc should be higher than the opening of the valve.
