2 STEP-DOWN DC/DC 2 XD9260/61 1.5A, Hi-SAT COT Synchronous Step-Down DC/DC Converter The XD9260/61 series is a high speed transient response 1.5A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter. The extremely fast load transient performance is as a result of a new High Speed circuit Architecture for Transient with Constant On Time (Hi-SAT COT) control method, which, when compared to standard Constant On Time(COT) control, provides less fluctuation in oscillation frequency against load and input voltage. The unique Hi-SAT COT architecture enables ultra-fast transient response, low ripple and high efficiency while using small external components that optimise PCB mounting area for space saving. Hi-SAT COT is able to dynamically adjust the on-time duration based on the input voltage, output voltage, and load current so that it can achieve relative constant frequency operation. Constant switching frequency minimizes the EMI interference at some sensitive bands of certain frequencies in the system. The XD9260/61 is available in the small USP-6C package and with the 3.0MHz switching frequency a 1.0μH Inductor can be used for applications that require a small form factor. 3 3 LOAD TRANSIENT RESPONSE Compared to DC/DC that use traditional voltage and current loop architectures, the new XD9260 offers ultra-fast load transient response. Below we illustrate the speed and voltage drop of the XD9260 compared with our previous product, the XC9235. The V-drop with the XD9260 is almost 4 time better (pk-pk: 40mV vs. 150mV) and it recovers much faster. 4 STEP-DOWN DC/DC 4 XD9267/68 36V 0.6A Synchronous Step-Down DC/DC Converter The XD9267/68 is a synchronous step-down DC/ DC with P-Ch High Side Switch to ensure low voltage operation with 100% max duty ratio. It can operate from 3.0V~36.0V and deliver loads up to 600mA. Designed for very high efficiencies at low output loads, with low quiescent current and automatic PFM/PWM mode. The XD9267/68 also works with Low ESR ceramic capacitors and comes with a choice of two switching frequencies, adjustable soft start and a power good output. Available in the ultra-small USP-6C package, measuring only 2.0 x 1.8 x 0.6mm an extremely small DC/DC circuit can be implemented with a minimal number of external components. The XD9267/68 includes a fold-back type current limit circuit and the IC will automatically resume normal operation as soon as the over-current condition disappears. 5 5 STABLE OPERATION FROM LOWER INPUT VOLTAGES Pch highside switch without boosting circuit 100% Duty cycle Low voltage operation, ideal for cold crank applications Many traditional mid-voltage DC/DC converters use an Nch MOSFET for the High Side switch. Whilst an Nch FET is excellent for high speed switching it normally needs a special bootstrap circuit to drive it. A bootstrap circuit has the advantage of being simple and low cost, but it also has limitations. The Duty-cycle and on time is limited by the requirement to refresh the charge in the bootstrap capacitor, which means the maximum duty ratio can never be 100% and this has implications when the input Voltage goes below VOUT as shown in the diagram below. The XD9267/68 uses a Pch MOSFET for the High Side Switch that does not need a bootstrap circuit, so the maximum duty ratio can be 100%. This means that the output remains stable even when the input drops beneath VOUT as shown in the diagram below: The XD9267/68 output follows the input when it goes below VOUT and this can be important for automotive cold crank applications or for when the VIN source has a high impedance (for example from a long cable). FOLD-BACK TYPE CURRENT LIMIT PROTECTION The current limiting circuit has both High Side Switch Current Limit and Low Side Switch Current Limit. These two current limits realise the fold-back current limiting operation and the Oscillation Frequency goes down automatically under current limit situation. A Inductor Current reaches to the High Side Current Limit When inductor current reaches to the High Side current limit (ILMH), the Low Side switch is kept on until the current reached to the Low Side current limit (ILML). It makes the oscillation frequency lower. B Fold-back Operation When V OUT (FB) voltage falls down with the current limit operation, ILMH and ILML values go down also for the fold-back operation. C Automatic Restart When the load becomes lighter, V OUT rises up automatically without inrush current along with the fold-back current limit rising. 6 LOW POWER VOLTAGE REGULATORS 6 XD V LDO with Low Quiescent Current Designed to operate with input voltages as high as 28V, the XD6216 range are ideally suited to applications where nominal 12V supplies are commonly encountered. In addition, the new regulators consume only 5μA in normal operation, falling to 0.1μA in standby mode, making them an attractive option wherever efficiency and power saving are key requirements. XD6216 can be supplied with a factory set output voltage anywhere from 2.0V to 12V in 100mV increments. It is suitable for use with low ESR ceramic capacitors, thereby eliminating the potential reliability problems associated with electrolytic and tantalum components. As a further aid to reliability an over-current protection circuit and overheat protection circuit are built-in, and when the output current reaches the current limit or the junction temperature reaches the temperature limit, the corresponding circuit activates. 7 POWER SWITCHES XD8107/08/09 85m High Function Power Switch 7 The XD8107/08/09 series power switches are optimised for power line distribution applications. These devices incorporate 85m Pch MOSFET power switches for low ON resistance. The XD8107/08/09 series includes an over-current limiting function with a high precision of ±10% and a high speed response time of 2μs and is available as a fixed or adjustable type. Protection circuits such as a current limiting, reverse current prevention, thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and soft start contribute to the safe operation of the application. A flag function is provided to allow monitoring of the switch state. The flag pin is an Nch open drain output which outputs a low level during detection of over-current or over-heating, or while the reverse current prevention function is operating. An Auto Recovery Type or a Latch Type current limiting feature can be chosen as needed for the application. A small USP-6C package or a SOT-25 package (XD8107 only) can be selected as appropriate for the application. 8 8 VOLTAGE DETECTORS XD6132/33/34 High Performance Voltage Detectors The XD6132/33/34 series are ultra-small voltage detectors that have high accuracy and sense pin for monitoring a rail other than VIN. High accuracy and low supply current are achieved by means of a low power, highly accurate internal reference in CMOS technology. The sense pin is isolated from the power input pin to enable monitoring of the voltage of another power supply. Output can be maintained in the detection state even if the voltage of the power supply that is monitored drops to 0V. The sense pin is also suitable for detecting high voltages, and the detection and release voltage can be set as desired using an external resistance. 9 9 INTEGRATED LOAD DUMP PROTECTION XD6132 SURGE VOLTAGE PROTECTION SURGE PROTECTION For safety during Load Dump 100V Surge Voltage 50V +B VSEN 0ms 200ms Transient 400ms Even if 100V Load dump surge comes to +B, the internal surge voltage protection circuit protects the VSEN pin. When the surge comes and the VSEN voltage rises, the SURGE VOLTAGE PROTECT BLOCK detects it and turns on M1 which sinks 2.5mA and this current causes a voltage drop on R1 to keep VSEN safe. 10 VOLTAGE DETECTORS 10 XD6130/31 Voltage Detectors with Watchdog The XD6130/XD6131 series are voltage detectors with a watchdog function. The watchdog timeout time and release delay time can be set as desired using a single external capacitor. These voltage detectors are used for microprocessor monitoring and when the power voltage reaches the detect voltage, or an L H pulse is not input to the watchdog pin within the watchdog timeout time, an L level signal is output from the RESETB pin.
