Goods Returned for Credit Any Apex Tool Group product may only be returned with written permission of Apex Tool Group Albury. An offsetting order of equivalent value must accompany the request for stock adjustment. Proof of purchase must be established on all items. 6 Magnastat Controlled Station The Magnastat system operates through a ferro-magnetic sensing device which changes its characteristics when a specific temperature is reached. This causes it to either attract or repel a permanent magnet which operates a power supply switch. In this way power to the heating element can be quickly switched on or off to either provide extra power for soldering operations or reduced power when idling. Working temperature selection is achieved by simply changing the temperature sensing soldering tip. These are available in temperature ratings of 35 C, 37 C and 427 C. The tips are made of pure copper for effective heat conductivity. The heating element has an optimal heating effect on the tip. This is possible through high precision of the tubes, the winding and insulation, which means that the heating element should never be gripped with pliers or be haered in any way. It is quite sufficient to secure the soldering tip by tightening it into the tip sleeve by hand (when the iron is cold). 29 Fume Extraction Many work environments today, including soldering, adhesives, welding and laser applications, create particles and gases that can be harmful to the work place and the environment. Most people thought that the move to lead-free soldering would be more nature friendly. In reality leadfree soldering smoke emissions contain more breathable fine dust particles. More and smaller particles are produced due to the higher working temperatures required and because more flux is used in the soldering process. In many countries legal regulations governing clean air in the work place require that hazardous substances are removed from the air in order to avoid harmful effects on people and machines. It is important to use the correct safety equipment to remove these hazardous substances. Fine particles are more dangerous to inhale than big particles as they get caught more easily and block the alveoli in the lungs.
