Any other use is not intended and is therefore forbidden. Modifications, inserting other companies tools and interfering with or changing operating elements or controls are also forbidden. This equipment is not designed for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion. Therefore, it may not be used in potentially explosive areas. Operation in or under water is not permitted. NOTE VOGT compressed air equipment may only be put into operation, operated, maintained and repaired as described in this operating manual. Repair work that is not described here must be performed by a specialist workshop or the manufacturer. 1.2 Residual risks Residual risks are risks which cannot be completely removed in spite of the safety-conscious design of this equipment. Noise risks. CAUTION Depending on the materials to be processed, different noise levels can occur. These noise levels may cause permanent hearing loss in the case of extended exposure. Always wear appropriate ear protection. Vibration risks. CAUTION Permanent physical damage, such as feelings of numbness or damage to the nervous system, may develop if the human body is exposed to vibrations for an extended period. The permissible operating times must be observed. Wear approved and tested antivibration protective gloves if necessary. Risk of injury from splinters, falling material, dust and sharp tools. Injuries from splinters or dust may arise when working with this equipment. Respiratory damage may occur from dust formation. Falling material may cause head injuries. CAUTION Always wear suitable regulation personal protective equipment when working with this equipment, e.g. safety boots, close-fitting work clothing, anti-splinter protective gloves/ protective goggles, protective headgear and, where applicable, a respirator mask.

NOTE The manufacturer cannot judge other residual risks which may arise in individual cases. These risks depend exclusively on the material to be processed. It is the respective operator s sole responsibility to assess the risks and take the necessary safety measures. These obligations also include observing the safety and health plan. 1.3 Obligations of the operator Adherence to the applicable accident prevention regulations Adherence to the applicable and relevant safety and health protection regulations Briefing operating staff using this operating manual Securing the work area Providing the approved and necessary personal protective equipment 2 Transportation / Storage Transport and store your VOGT compressed air equipment in the provided metal transport case whenever possible. Always store it in a dry and dustless place if possible. If storing for longer than two days, add some drops of oil to the connection hose to preserve it and put the equipment briefly into operation (see Section 4). 3 Operation NOTE VOGT compressed air equipment may only be operated using lubricated, condensate free compressed air. It is essential to protect the compressed air line against the ingress of dirt. Check the equipment, all tools and accessories for visible damage before operation. Damaged tools must not be used. Inform a specialist workshop, your dealer or the manufacturer. If order numbers are required, they can be found in the tool list in Section 11, or the spare parts list in Section 12. NOTE VOGT compressed air equipment normally comes with some basic personal protective equipment. This consists of protective gloves, protective goggles and ear plugs. We would like to expressly point out that this personal protective equipment can never provide protection from all conceivable risks. Always wear the prescribed, approved and suitable personal protective equipment needed for each individual situation. 7

To ensure air supply to VOGT compressed air equipment, a sufficiently powerful compressed air source (e.g. compressor) with an output of 3 to bar (44-87 psi) and an actual supply amount of at least 190 l/min for VH 25/VH 30 or 255 l/min for VH 10, VH 50, VH 50.18, VH 0, VH 0.18, VTS 50, VTS 0 is required. This corresponds to a minimum suction capacity of about l/min. More powerful compressed air sources may be used while taking account of the corresponding operating pressures. Please refer to the table in Section 8 for the operating pressures recommended for the respective materials. If needed, use the VOGT pressure regulator (Z400 S). Risk of equipment damage if the operating pressure at the equipment exceeds bar (87 psi). NOTE Check the operating pressure and set the correct value if necessary. Use a pressure regulator if necessary (item no. Z 400) Basic rule: The lower the material resistance, the lower the operating pressure. The operating pressure is too high if the tool jumps away from the material. Excessive pressure increases the vibration, reduces performance and can cause damage e.g. to the equipment. VOGT compressed air equipment must be continuously lubricated during operation as the equipment can be damaged otherwise. We recommend using VOGT precision line lubricator Z 300. Mounting Engage the precision line lubricator in the last compressed air hose upstream of the VOGT Hammer or VOGT TurboSpade. The distance to the equipment should not exceed 10 meters. Ensure that the lubricator is attached at the same height or level as the equipment. Lubrication If the tool is slightly moistened or black with oil at the shank end (hexagon) after operation, the lubricator is set up correctly. If the tool has a metallic gleam at the shank end, the oil quantity is set too low. If oil leaks at the actuator body valve or runs along the chisel, the oil quantity is set too high. Setting the oil quantity and topping up oil Caution: Only carry out work with the compressed air line disconnected. Open the sealing plug. The quantity of oil supplied can be set using the adjusting screw underneath. The quantity of oil supplied is reduced by turning the adjusting screw in a clockwise direction and increased by turning it anticlockwise. The oil can be topped up by opening the sealing plug. An oil filling should be used up after 2-3 working days. If the recommended consumption differs considerably, turn the adjusting screw 1/8th in the corresponding direction and continue to monitor the oil consumption. Oil types Use VOGT Special Oil Z 500 or other types of pneumatic oil. Important: Only use resin-free oil! You will need a compressed air hose with an inner diameter of at least 9 mm (e.g. VOGT metal hose drum Z 100, VOGT PU streamline hose Z 110) to connect the VOGT compressed air equipment to the compressed air source. Lay the compressed air hose between the compressed air source and the place of use. But do not connect the hose yet! (See Section 3.2 for connecting the hose) If distances exceed 30 m, use a hose with a larger cross-section! Compressed air hoses with a claw coupling must be equipped with a claw coupling adapter for VOGT standard coupling (e.g. Z 200 adapter) in a depressurised state at the end where the VOGT compressed air equipment should be connected. 8

Risk of tripping or falling if compressed air hoses are not laid correctly. CAUTION Lay hoses in such a way that they do not cross any paths or roads and lie flat on the ground. Always lay the compressed air hoses in such a way that there is a suitable hose reserve in the work area. 3.1 Inserting / changing tools Risk of injury from tools. CAUTION The equipment must be depressurised to insert or change tools as the equipment can be unexpectedly put into operation if handled incorrectly. Always wear suitable protective gloves when dealing with sharp, pointy or hot tools in order to avoid injury. Only use original tools or tools expressly approved by the manufacturer for use in VOGT compressed air equipment. Hold the VOGT compressed air equipment with the tool holder upwards. Support it by placing the other end on the ground. If the VOGT compressed air equipment has already been in operation, check whether the tool holder is oily. See page 8 if it this is not the case. Inserting a tool B A Insert the tool (A) with the hexagon in the necessary orientation in the tool holder (B). C Using your other hand, slide the sliding sleeve (C) downwards (around half the length of the sliding sleeve) until the tool slips into the holder. Return the sliding sleeve to its original position. Pull on the tool to check whether it has correctly locked into place in the tool holder. Check whether the tool hexagon is positively locked into the tool holder. 9

Removing a tool C Slide the sliding sleeve (C) halfway downwards. B A Pull out the tool (A) using your other hand. Return the sliding sleeve to its original position. Risk of injury from tools flying out. NOTE Every time you change tools, ensure that the tool holder does not show signs of heavy wear or heavy denting. Furthermore, ensure that the hexagon on the tool is in perfect condition. Ensure that the tool is fitting correctly each time you change tools. 3.2 Connecting the hose Connect the hose to the compressed air source (e.g. compressor) and open the compressed air supply. Check that the compressed air hoses and couplings are tight. In the case of leakages, interrupt the compressed air supply and replace the hose! Connect the hose to the VOGT compressed air equipment. When doing so, ensure that the compressed air equipment does not switch on automatically. If this happens, disconnect the compressed air coupling immediately. Have the compressed air equipment repaired at a specialist workshop or by the manufacturer. 10

4 Work Risk of severe or fatal injury if the equipment even without a tool is aimed at persons or animals and when persons or animals are in the danger area. WARNING Never aim the equipment at persons or animals. The operator is responsible for ensuring that there are no persons or animals in the equipment s danger area. Once a person or animal enters the danger area, the operator must immediately stop the equipment and ensure that these persons or animals stay a safe distance away. The danger area always depends on the work and the tool. Therefore, the operator is responsible for determining the danger area. If you activate the release lever, compressed air is supplied to the rammer of the VOGT compressed air equipment and the equipment starts. Always use both hands to hold the VOGT compressed air equipment when working: VOGT Hammer with one hand on the shaft or the optional handle and the other on the actuator body; VOGT TurboSpade at the top with both right and left handles. Hold the tool on the material to be processed. Do not operate the equipment without contact with the material! NOTE Impacts that do not strike anything lead to increased wear on the hexagon of the tools, or to the piston breaking on the clamping sleeve. The handle and shaft serve to guide the equipment, not to apply additional force to the material. Only use sufficient physical strength for the equipment to overcome the resistance of the tool guide, to keep the impact moving forward, to prevent the equipment jumping up and to ensure the material is actually processed. 11

Limited levering is possible. Excessive levering can lead to the shaft or tool breaking. Risk of injury CAUTION Risk of falling if the shaft or tool is broken through an unexpected shift in weight. Do not lever too heavily. If you release the releasing lever, the compressed air supply is interrupted. The equipment stops after a brief overrun period (depending on the length of the equipment). Risk of severe or fatal injury or equipment/tool damage if the release lever is permanently locked in place. WARNING Never lock the release lever in place using cable ties, tape or other means. Check every 4 operating hours at the latest it there is a film of oil on the tool holder. If this is not the case, add some drops of VOGT Special Oil to the connection hose. We fundamentally recommend that a VOGT precision line lubricator be used during operation. If a VOGT precision line lubricator is already being used, check its oil level and setting (see page 8). It is useful to grease the hexagon chisel holder for high contact forces. An excessive quantity of oil dampens the impact performance. Drops will form on the releasing lever or tool holder. Reduce the quantity of oil at the lubricator (see page 8) in such instances and clean the equipment if necessary (see page 13). The equipment or tool may become damaged if the quantity of oil is too low. Check the oil supply, refill the oil if necessary or adjust the lubricator (see page 8). Vibration risks. CAUTION Permanent physical damage, such as feelings of numbness or damage to the nervous system may develop if the human body is exposed to vibrations for an extended period. The permissible operating times must be observed. Wear approved and tested antivibration protective gloves if necessary. If the equipment, tools or accessories are damaged, they should be repaired or replaced by a specialist workshop or the manufacturer. As the manufacturer, we are able to supply necessary spare parts in the quickest possible time and carry out repairs in the shortest time. If order numbers are required, they can be found in the tool list in Section 11, or the spare parts list in Section

4.1 Taking a break / Finishing Interrupt the compressed air supply from the compressed air hose to the equipment. When pressing the A button on the coupling, the system is released only after it has been fully and automatically vented in accordance with DIN ISO When the system has been fully vented, pull off the hose. In the case of taking a break: Place the secured equipment aside. Cover any sharp or pointy tools in the equipment, if applicable. When finishing work: Interrupt the compressed air supply. Remove the tool from the equipment. Check whether there is a film of oil on the tool holder. If this is not the case, add a few drops of VOGT Special Oil to the connection hose and put the equipment into operation without a tool for approx. 15 seconds. Clean the VOGT compressed air equipment, tools, hose and other accessories with a dry or oil-containing clean cloth. Store your VOGT compressed air equipment in the provided metal transport case whenever possible. 5 Maintenance / Care The equipment has a low maintenance if you ensure a regular supply of oil to the equipment. 13

Troubleshooting NOTE Please see section 3 and 4. Error Possible cause Maintenance VOGT compressed air equipment does not impact or has no power. Piston has started to rust inside the casing due to a lack of oiling. Dirt has entered via the air hose. Too much lubricating oil used or water in the rammer. Excessive contact forces. Press the piston back through the tool holder using a striker. Add some VOGT Special Oil or pneumatic oil to the connection hose and in the tool holder. Briefly put the equipment into operation without a tool. Interrupt the compressed air supply again. Remove the compressed air hose again. Repeat the entire procedure a few times. Repairs/cleaning must be performed by a specialist workshop or the manufacturer. Observe the warning information below! Add a small amount of cleaning agent (e.g. 1 to 2 cm³ of brake cleaner) into the connection hose. Briefly put the equipment into operation without a tool. Collect the oil/water/cleaning agent mixture that comes out. Interrupt the compressed air supply again. Remove the compressed air hose again. Repeat the entire procedure two to three times. Add some pneumatic oil into the connection hose. Put the equipment into operation. Lubricate the chisel holder and reduce the contact force. NOTE Observe the safety warnings and disposal information from the manufacturer of the cleaning agent! 14

Error Possible cause Maintenance Tool no longer clicks into the tool holder or does not stay in the tool holder. Tool cannot be inserted or removed again. Tool or tool holder worn out. (Usually caused by excessive operating pressure or impacts that do not strike anything). Sliding sleeve on the tool holder is slid all the way back instead of just halfway when inserting or removing the tool. Repairs must be performed by a specialist workshop or the manufacturer. Only push the sliding sleeve on the tool holder back halfway when inserting or removing the tool. Observe Section 3.1 The equipment goes into continuous operation without the releasing lever being actuated. Dirt has entered the sliding sleeve and is hindering unlatching.
