80W &100W Folding Solar Panel Kit CONTENTS Introduction Safety Instructions Installation Operating Features FAQs Troubleshooting Cleaning INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Navitron 80W/100W Folding Solar Panel Kit. This product is designed for trickle charging 12 volt DC batteries in cars, caravans and boats. 12v systems can supply power to lights, radios and mobile phone chargers. A battery will charge while the panel is in the sun, until it is full. It features a built in charging regulator to control the voltages being fed into the battery to help prolong the lifetime of the battery. Use the support legs to adapt the panel s position to get maximum sun exposure. The outputs of this solar panel kit can be monitored with the MT50 LCD display which plugs into the controller via the connector on the controller.
About the Folding Solar Panel Kit SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The Folding Solar Panel Kit is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced sensory, physical or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless supervised or they have been instructed on how to use the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised at all times to ensure they do not play with this device. Never use the Folding Solar Panel Kit to charge non-rechargeable batteries. Doing so may result in injury to yourself and others and/or may damage this kit. The Folding Solar Panel Kit is intended only for charging 12 volt lead acid batteries and GEL batteries. The battery must always be mounted in a well-ventilated area, far away from any ignition source. Lead acid batteries produce harmful, explosive gases. Do not smoke near the battery when it is charging. Always wear eye protection and gloves when working with lead acid batteries. Battery acid is a harmful substance. Should the acid come into contact with your skin or eyes wash the affected area immediately with cold running water and seek medical advice. To ensure optimum results from the Folding Solar Panel Kit keep the battery well maintained. Please note: You should check the manufacturers data for your battery to determine the correct profile to use. Make sure the absorption voltage does not exceed the recommended charging voltage. Please use a different absorption voltage if it is too high. Key safety points Positive and negative (+/-) polarity must be observed. To avoid damage, please keep the rightconnection for the terminals. Always turn off the power before connecting or disconnecting the appliances. Do not connect any other power supplier or charge together at the same time. Place the charge controller and battery in a cool, dry place. Protect both from water. Avoid contact with acids and alkaline substances. Do not modify any part of this kit. Repairs must be carried out by a professional electrician.
INSTALLATION To ste up your panel find a sunny and flat location and then follow the steps below: Step 1. Take the panel out of the bag and carefully open it. Step 2. Unfold the supports on the panel. Step 3. Set the panel on a flat surface, facing the sunshine. Step 4. Now connect the battery charge controller to the panel.
Step 5. Next, connect to the battery with the battery clamps on the cable. Step 6. The other terminal of battery can now connect to 12V loads. Warning! Polarity +/- must be observed. Battery Charge Controller To set up the battery charge controller, follow the steps below: Step 1. Connect components to the charge controller in the sequence shown in the (left) picture. Pay attention to the polarity, + (red) and - (black). Always power the battery first. Step 2. After powering the battery, check the battery indicator on the controller, it will light green. Step 3. The battery fuse should be installed as close to battery as possible. A maximum distance of 150mm is recommended

It is resistant tosmall hail stones, however larger stones may cause damage. The Navitron Folding Solar Panel Kit is noiseless and therefore safe to use in public areas like parks. This unit has a glass surface which should be kept clean using a soft cloth or sponge. Marks or dirton the surface will limit the panel s efficiency. The regulator and battery should be kept dry at all times. CLEANING To clean the exterior of your solar panel use a clean dry cloth. Avoid chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
FAQS How does the Folding Solar Panel Kit work? The sun s energy (sunlight) is converted into a DC current by the solar panel. This electrical power is used to charge the battery which then supplies power to connected appliances. How do I calculate how much power I need? The typical rule is to figure out the watts required to run an appliance and then multiply this figure by the hours of consumption. Once this is calculated the capacity of the solar panels can be established. Power (watts) = current (amps) x voltage, watts x hours = watt hours TROUBLESHOOTING The solar panel and solar regulator on this kit is maintenance free, should an error occur, then carry out the following checks: Check if the panel is in direct sunlight. Check whether the polarity on the battery is correct. Check that the wiring connecting the battery to the panels is not damaged. Troubleshooting Tips Fault Possible reason Troubleshooting No charge LED in good conditions PV array disconnected Check that panels & battery connections are correct and tight.
