Replcement Drive Shfts Some bot mnufcturers shorten drive shfts. Becuse of this, order replcement drive shfts ccording to the following criteri: Stndrd 58 in. (1473 mm) or 34 1/2 in. (876 mm) shfts cn be ordered from Mercury Mrine. Order modified (shortened) drive shfts from bot mnufcturer. Dn Corportion -Spicer Regionl Drive Shft Centers must modify the shfts to mintin MerCruiser Wrrnty. Modified Drive Shft Specifictions: U-joint ligned rdilly within 0 (±1/2 ). U-joints gresed, fter welding, with Quicksilver 2-4-C Mrine Lubricnt. Assembly blnced to within 1.5 oz. in. (0.01 N m). Tube to hve.005 in. (0.127 mm) to.010 in. (0.254 mm) interference fit with tube yoke. Tube must be stright nd round within.015 in. (0.381 mm).! CAUTION When ttching shft BE SURE tht the pilots on the drive shft flnges re engged in input shft nd output shft flnges. Flnges MUST BE flush with ech other prior to tightening screws or screws my come loose during opertion.!
