2 Batteries and Vehicles BRIEF NEWS HIGHLIGHTS BYD will test electric bus in Rio de Janeiro Date: April 1st Source: BYD Two Brazilian public transportations companies and BYD have launched the BYD 100% electric bus program in Rio de Janeiro that is going to be tested for one month. Toda Kogyo and BASF plan to sign a Joint Venture Agreement Date: April 3rd Source: Toda Kogyo Corp. The Japanese manufacturer of cathode materials Toda Kogyo announced that it has started negotiations with BASF in order to form a Joint Venture with the purpose to produce, market and sale a broad range of cathode materials such as nickel-cobalt-aluminumoxide, lithium-manganese-oxide and nickel-cobalt-manganese. Electrovaya delivers lithium-ion battery packs to Dongfeng Motors Date: April 7th Source: Electrovaya Electrovaya announced that it has delivered battery packs to the Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motors in order to feed its electric vehicle program. B3CG and EnerDel teamed up to power electric bus project Date: April 8th Source: EnerDel The electromechanical components manufacturer B3CG Interconnect and EnerDel have joined to develop and manufacture traction batteries for the Canadian school bus producer Lion Bus. According to the information, the Lion Bus is a project part of the Transportation Electrification Strategy promoted by the Canadian Government which aims to introduce electric buses equipped with more than 100 kwh of lithium-ion batteries each one by 2017 in Quebec.
GM would invest US$ 449 to upgrade electric vehicle manufacturing plant Date: April 8th Source: General Motors General Motors (GM) announced that it would invest US$ 449 million in order to upgrade its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and Brownstown Battery Assembly plants. The first one is the only plant in the world that mass-produces extended range electric vehicles for 22 countries meanwhile the second one manufactures lithium-ion battery packs for GM s electric vehicles. SAFT will supply primary lithium batteries to a Chinese gas meter OEM Date: April 15th Source: Saft Batteries The French battery manufacturer SAFT announced that it has won a supply contract to deliver primary lithium batteries to one of China s top five gas meter OEMs which would power domestic smart meters installed in Zheijang Province.
3 Lithium Industry BRIEF NEWS Orocobre updated Olaroz Lithium Project Date: April 9th Source: Orocobre Limited Orocobre has updated the information about its flagship Olaroz Lithium Project, in terms of physical progress the project is 85% complete, and US$ 194 Million had been spent in the construction of the project. The project is running on schedule and adjusted to budget. Pilbara Minerals acquired Pilgangoora Tantalum Lithium project Date: April 2nd Source: Pilbara Minerals Ltd. Pilbara Minerals had signed a non-binding agreement to acquire the tantalum and lithium project in Australia. HIGHLIGHTS GLF to increase interest in International s Mariana property Date: April 4th Source: International Lithium Corp. International Lithium Corp. announced that its strategic partner GFL International Co., Ltd. received shareholder approval for the Loan Conversions and Investment Agreement whereby GLF would increase its ownership in the Mariana lithium brine to 80% by the cancellation of app US$3.3 million. Nemaska Lithium produced 99.99% lithium hydroxide from electrolysis process test Date: April 10th Source: Nemaska Exploration Nemaska Lithium Inc. updated its 1,000 hour test of its patent pending electrolysis process which has been used in the sodium chloride industry for decades. According to the information, the company produced high purity 99.99% lithium hydroxide. Mammoth energy in negotiations to sell Chilean assets Date: April 15th Source: Mammoth Energy Group Inc. Mammoth Energy Group Inc. announced its intentions to reduce its outstanding common shares in 67,198,300 as a result of the unwinding of its Chilean assets. The company is negotiating a buyout and sale of these assets. The terms of the negotiation are to be announced by the end of April.
