Bonding, mounting accessories and terminating cables 1.0 General 1.1 These instructions provide the information necessary for the installation of the tall skirt on the back and side of a 3M Cross Connect Cabinet 4220SV series. Use for stake, hand hole or pad mounted cabinets. One tall skirt needed for each DSLAM. Provides cable protection from ground/pad to bottom of DSLAM. Recommended DSLAM mounting order 1.2 Tools required for installation: UAE socket set Drill and drill bit Standard hand tools 13/64 Drill bit - for holes to attach skirt 1.3 Additional materials or accessories that may be needed for installation. Pallet mounting clips and hardware from cabinet Stakes Mounting ring Rear cable access cover (SVB/SVC) Rear cable access cover (SVE) Stabilizer (SVC) 2.0 Kit Contents 2.1 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVC 1 tall skirt assembly 10 Self threading screws *Install tall skirt before mounting DSLAM.
78-0015-3067-0 July 2016 3 3.0 Tall skirt installation on a 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet 4220SVC 3.1 Remove the front panel from the skirt assembly. 3.3 Move the tall skirt away from the cabinet and drill the holes in the cabinet. Front panel 3.2 Place the tall skirt against the back of the cabinet and align the left side surface of the tall skirt flush with the left side surface of the cabinet. Transfer the tall skirt mounting holes to the cabinet back. 3.4 If you are using rear cable access cover, place it on the assembly prior to installing the tall skirt. 3.5 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to back of the cabinet using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 3.6 Remove knock outs if required and route DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs if required. 3.7 Seal the openings per you company practice.
4 July 2016 78-0015-3067-0 Power cable access hole (optional) Ground cable access hole (optional) 3.8 Attach the front panel to the tall skirt after the DSLAM is mounted. 4.3 Move the tall skirt away from the cabinet and drill the holes in the cabinet. 4.0 Tall skirt installation on side of 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet SVC 4.1 Remove the front panel from the skirt assembly. 4.2 Place the tall skirt against the left side of the cabinet. align the left side of the tall skirt with the front surface of the cabinet. Transfer the tall skirt mounting holes to the cabinet side and the side of the rear mounted tall skirt.
78-0015-3067-0 July 2016 5 4.4 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to the side of the cabinet using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 4.8 Attach the front panel to the tall skirt after the DSLAM is mounted. 4.5 Remove the knock out in the side of the rear tall skirt. *(Optional cable routing is through the large knock out in the side of the cabinet) Remove large knock out (if routing cable to the rear of the cabinet) 4.6 Route DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs on the side of the cabinet if required. 4.7 Seal the openings per your company practice. 5.0 Tall skirt installation on back of 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet SVE with DSLAM 1 right side 5.1 1st DSLAM Location: Remove the front panel from the skirt assembly. 5.2 Attach rear cable access cover (SVE) Rear cable access cover
6 July 2016 78-0015-3067-0 5.3 Place the tall skirt against the right rear of the cabinet. Align the right side of the tall skirt so it is flush with the right side of the cabinet. Transfer the tall skirt mounting holes to the cabinet back. 5.5 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to the back of the cabinet using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 5.4 Move the tall skirt away from the cabinet and drill the holes in the cabinet. 5.6 Remove knock outs if required and route DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs if required. 5.7 Seal the openings per your company practice.
78-0015-3067-0 July 2016 7 5.8 Attach the front panel to the tall skirt after the DSLAM is mounted. 6.3 Move the tall skirt away from the cabinet and drill the holes in the cabinet. 6.0 Tall skirt installation on back of 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet SVE with DSLAM 2 left side *Right side tall skirt must be installed prior to installing the left side tall skirt. 6.4 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to the back of the cabinet using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 6.5 Route DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs on the side of the cabinet if required. 6.1 Remove the front panel from the skirt assembly. 6.2 Place the tall skirt against the left rear side of the cabinet. Align the left side of the tall skirt flush with the left side of the cabinet. Transfer the tall skirt mounting holes to the cabinet back.
8 July 2016 78-0015-3067-0 6.6 Seal the openings per your company practice. 6.7 Attach the front panel to the tall skirt after the DSLAM is mounted. 7.2 Place the tall skirt against the left side of the cabinet. Align the left side of the tall skirt to the left side of the vents on the sidewall and to the right side of the large knock out on the side of the rear tall skirt. Transfer the tall skirt mounting holes to the cabinet sidewall and the left side of the rear mounted tall skirt. 7.0 Tall skirt installation on side of 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet SVE with DSLAM 3 left side *Left side rear tall skirt must be installed prior to installing the left side tall skirt. 7.3 Move the tall skirt away from the cabinet and drill the holes in the cabinet. 7.1 Remove the front panel from the skirt assembly. Vents 7.4 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to the side of the cabinet and the side of the rear tall skirt using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 7.5 Remove the large knock out in the side of the rear tall skirt and route the DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs on the side of the cabinet if required. *(Optional cable routing is through the large knock out in the side of the cabinet.)
78-0015-3067-0 July 2016 9 7.6 Place the tall skirt into position and fasten to the side of the cabinet using the self-threading screws provided with the kit. 7.7 Route DSLAM and fiber cables through the opening. Route the power and ground wire through the small knock outs on the side of the cabinet if required. Power cable access hole (optional) Ground cable access hole (optional) 7.8 Seal the openings per your company practice. 7.9 Attach the front panel to the tall skirt after the DSLAM is mounted. 8.0 Tall skirt installation on side of 3M Cross-Connect Cabinet SVE with DSLAM 4 right side 8.1 Mounting the fourth DSLAM on the right side of the cabinet is similar to mounting the DSLAM on the left side of the cabinet. *The rear right side DSLAM and tall skirt must be installed before the right side DSLAM and tall skirt. 9.0 Bonding, mounting accessories and terminating cables 9.1 See Instruction 78-0015-2616-5 for information regarding bonding, mounting accessories and terminating cables per 3M MS 2 Splicing Modules, 3M 710 Modules, pedestal, pole mount, hand hole and pad mount cabinet practices.
