Accelerator Lever 7. Rear Drum Brake 2. Brake Lever 8. 1 Amp Charger 3. Folding Handle 9. Charging Port 4. Deck 5. Kickstand 6. 150W DC Motor 5

BOX CONTENTS Your Bladez ION should come complete with: 1. Bladez ION 150 ELECTRIC POWER BOARD 2. AC Wall Charger 3. Allen Wrench 4. Instruction Manual and Registration Card GETTING STARTED YOUR SCOOTER WILL COME CHARGED OUT OF THE BOX BUT YOU MUST CHARGE YOUR ION 150 FOR 6-8 HOURS EVEN IF BOTH LIGHTS ON THE CHARGER ARE GREEN PRIOR TO FIRST USE! Before You Ride Fig. 1 1. The ION is shipped with the Handlebars unattached. 2. You need to insert the accelerator and brake levers into the handlebars. To insert, remove the screws from the handlebar, then insert the right and left handle and align the holes. (Fig.1). Then insert the screws through the holes and tighten the nuts. (Fig. 2). Fig. 2 3. *Note: The Accelerator Lever (the one with the shorter lever) goes on the right, the Brake Lever goes on the left. 4. Make sure all of the bolts are tightened. Also make sure to insert the bolts in the correct way with the nuts on the back side of the handlebars as in Fig. 2 5. Make sure the front tire is inflated to 40 PSI as the tire may lose pressure during shipping. For information on inflating the tire, please refer to page 10. The rear tire is solid rubber. * Note: It is not advisable to operate your Power Board with low tire pressure. This will negatively affect speed, handling and performance. 6

Batteries The ION comes with 2 12V-6Ah batteries. The batteries are located under the deck. If you have any questions about your batteries you can contact us here at Bladez. You can visit our website at www.ebladez.com or call us toll free at (866) 325-2339. CHARGING SYSTEM This unit comes standard with a regulated 24V charger. * Note that it is not advisable to leave your Power Board plugged in for more than 24 hours. Charging Fig. 3 1. The scooter comes with a 1 amp charger (Fig. 3). To charge your scooter, plug the adapter into the charging jack on the scooter (Fig. 4) and plug the charger into the wall. One green LED will light indicating that the charging cycle has begun. When the batteries are fully charged you will see two green LED s light up. Your ION 150 is ready to ride. *Note: Full charging takes approx. 6-8 hours from full discharge. It is recommended that you charge your Power Board after each use. Fig. 4 *It is recommended on your initial charge that you charge the batteries for 6-8 hours even if both lights on the charger are lit. Unfolding 1. To unfold your ION, unhook the handlebar security clip. Hold the unit with one hand while gently pulling up on the handlebars with the other. 2. Fully extend the handlebars to their upright position until you feel the mechanism lock into place. 7

Riding 1. Make sure that all of the bolts and screws are tightened. 2. Raise the kickstand to its upright position. 3. The ION does not have an on/off switch. To ride, put one foot on the deck of the ION. After pushing off with the other foot, squeeze the ACCELERATOR LEVER on the right side of the handlebars. The Power Board will begin to move under its own power. You must reach approximately 2 mph to activate the motor. 4. To stop, release the accelerator handle and depress the BRAKE LEVER (on the left side of the handlebars). Depressing the brake will temporarily disengage power to the motor. 5. When you feel your Power Board moving slow, sluggish or running out of power, it is time to recharge. (See charging instructions on page 7) * Note that there is still a charge in the batteries but it is not advisable to fully discharge the batteries. FOLDING AND STORAGE Fig. 5 1. To fold your Power Board. Using one hand, gently pull up on the Folding Handle, while lowering the handlebars with the other (Fig. 5). Fig. 6 2. Lock the unit into the folded position using the handlebar security clip (Fig. 6). 8

RECOMMENDED TOOLS To adjust and service the Bladez ION Power Board you will need the following tools: Allen Keys: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6mm. Wrenches: 10 / 13 / 16 mm Open and ring combination. Philips Head Screwdriver Hand bicycle pump Oil, Grease or Lubricant (such as WD-40) BRAKING SYSTEM The ION uses a rear wheel drum brake system activated by a hand lever (on the left side of the handlebar). The brake is activated by squeezing the BRAKE LEVER with your left hand. The ION is equipped with a controller that temporarily disengages the power to the motor when the BRAKE LEVER is depressed. Practice braking on a smooth, dry surface to get used to the feel of the braking system. Braking distance is affected by wet conditions and loose and uneven riding surfaces. The brakes are relatively maintenance free and come adjusted to the proper setting from the factory. TIRES AND WHEELS It is recommended that the front tire is inflated to 40 PSI. During shipping, the tire might be slightly deflated. The rear tire is solid rubber. To Inflate the Tire 1. Remove the valve stem cover to expose the valve stem (Fig. 7). 2. Using a standard bicycle pump, inflate the front tire to 40 PSI and replace the valve stem cover. Fig. 7 The Bladez ION uses a pneumatic tire in the front and a solid tire in the rear. The front wheel is actually two halves (split-rim) bolted together to make it easier to remove or replace the tire. Empty all air from the tire, prior to loosening the bolts to split the rim. 9

Tire wear will vary based on rider weight, riding conditions and care. Replacement tires can be obtained at your local Bladez dealer, through motorcycle shops, or from the Bladez website at www.ebladez.com. The Bladez ION uses a standard Innova 2.00 x 50 front pneumatic tire and a 150mm rear solid tire. Tire Pressure The front tire must be inflated to a maximum of 40 P.S.I. It is also recommended to use a tube additive like Slime available from any motorcycle shop, to avoid inconvenient punctures. BELT DRIVE The Ion uses a belt drive system. Belt Adjustment The belt may need to be adjusted from time to time. Please follow the directions below to adjust your belt. 1. Using a screwdriver remove the plastic covers on each side of the rear wheel (Fig. 8). 2. Use a 16mm wrench to loosen the axle bolts. Once the axle bolts are loose, use a 10mm wrench to loosen the tension bolts behind the rear wheel of the ION and move the rear wheel backwards to remove the slack from the belt (Fig. 9). Fig. 9 Fig. 8 3. Once this is achieved the wheel nuts must then be relocked into position and wheel alignment must be checked (while turning the wheel, visually check that the clearance between the wheel and the frame parts have clearance). 10

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE The following guide will help assist you in identifying and correcting common problems with your ION: Symptoms Potential Causes: Solutions: Both lights on the charger turn green right away. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM! IONs come charged out of the box. Charge your scooter for an additional 6-8 hours prior to initial use. Charger is plugged in, but the second light on the charger never turns on. Your ION has gone into deep discharge and cannot identify charge status. Charge the scooter for 6 to 8 hours to bring the scooter out of deep discharge. The ION does not hold the charge long enough. My ION `sputters' or accelerates very slowly The sealed lead acid batteries have reached the end of their life and will need to be replaced Your battery is running out of charge. Replace batteries. Call Bladez for replacement information. Recharge your ION. OTHER QUESTIONS Where can I get spares, accessories and replacement parts?
