DX Series Performance The engine and hydraulic systems are the lifeline of any hydraulic excavator. The Doosan DX Series has a powerful Doosan electronic injection common rail engine and a precision control hydraulic system, keeping you more productive. Performance Efficiency The EPOS controller (Electronic Performance Optimizing System) and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) on the DX Series are linked by a Controller Area Network data link, enabling continuous communication between the engine and hydraulic system. In any application, the DX Series systems are perfectly synchronized for maximum performance and efficiency. In high demand applications, the ECU horsepower curve communication and EPOS control the horsepower curve which allows for low fuel consumption. Doosan Engines Doosan manufactures many different size engines every year ranging from 40 to 1,000 horsepower. All engines are manufactured to operate meeting Doosan quality standards. The electronic injection common rail engines meet U.S. EPA regulations. An industry-exclusive internal EGR system that is a mechanical part of the engine makes it more reliable than electrical EGR systems. Hydraulic Pump The main hydraulic pumps on the DX Series produce class-leading hydraulic flow for some of the fastest cycle times in the industry. Fuel Cooled ECU The fuel cooled ECU is vital to the DX Series performance, monitoring and controlling all the critical systems and allowing the machine to run more efficiently. By fuel cooling, the ECU is protected from the heat of the engine block. Fuel from the fuel tank runs through an air-to-air cooler, then to a tank on the backside of the ECU. Precision Control Doosan gives the operator of the DX Series precision control and power for all machine applications. Through precise engineering of the control valve and joysticks, the operator has control for lifting and grading while having the power to be productive in many applications. Flow Control The operator can easily control the auxiliary hydraulic flow to an attachment from inside the cabin. A breaker/shear switch on the right control panel allows the operator to select one-way flow for an attachment like a breaker or two-way flow for an attachment such as a shear. The LCD monitor can also be used to set the maximum flow rate for each attachment type. Control Pattern Change Valve The DX Series comes standard with a control pattern change valve allowing a control lever change from ISO to a BHL control pattern. By turning the change valve with a wrench the control pattern is changed. No access panels have to be removed to perform this operation.

DX Series Reliability Reliability is engineered into every component on the DX Series, which directly translates into overall lower operating costs. Doosan uses computer stress design techniques, highly durable materials, and extreme physical testing before components are released for production. Finite Element Analysis All the major structures on the DX Series are stress tested using a computerized finite element analysis. The computer analysis allows loads to be applied throughout the structure. The high stress areas are determined, and material thickness is sized accordingly to improve reliability by reducing metal fatigue. The reliability process does not stop there. The structures are then physically tested to validate the computer design. Boom and Arm Assembly All major pin connection on the boom and arm on the DX Series are a one piece casting design. In addition to casting, additional reinforcement around the pin bosses and internal gussets increase work group life. Bushings The bushings on the boom and arm of the DX Series are fine mesh bushings with grease entering at the center point of the bushing, increasing overall grease coverage of the pin. A highly lubricous metal is used for the boom pivot point, extending grease intervals to 250 hours. A rolled bushing has been added to the arm and bucket pin-up point, extending the grease intervals to 50 hours. Ultra-Hard Wear-Resistant Disk Plates Ultra-hard, wear-resistant disk plates have been added at the end of the arm and bucket link. These wear disks extend the service intervals of the bucket pin-up point while keeping a consistent tooth tip radius for maximum breakout forces. Polymer Shims Polymer shims are used on the major pin-up points of the front. The polymer shims eliminate metal to metal contact and provide lower and uniform wear, increasing the pin and bushing life.

DX Series Reliability (Cont'd) Upper Structure The upper structure has a D-type frame for added strength to withstand greater side shock and protect the vital machine components. X-Chassis The X-chassis on the DX Series is stress tested in the design and manufacturing processes. For reliability, the side rails are designed with thick material and extra reinforcement at the idler housing. Panels All the panels on the DX Series are metal and are thick enough to withstand the hardest applications. Track Spring and Idler The idler housing on the DX Series is reinforced for greater reliability. The idler is a one-piece design. This onepiece design gives the idler increased durability while allowing greater track spring tension to promote overall track life. Hydraulic Main Pump Coupler The pump coupler of the DX Series is made of an ultra-hard polymer material. The polymer plate is bolted directly to the engine flywheel and mates with a metal gear mounted on the hydraulic main pump. This direct coupling translates into greater efficiency and reliability. Solid State Electrical Components All the solid state electrical components on the DX Series are in the controlled environment of the cabin, safe from water and contaminants, greatly increasing component life. The EPOS (machine computer) and all the solid state components are right behind the operator seat. Aluminum Cooler Group The cooler packages on the DX Series are aluminum to extend usable life while increasing cooling capability. Major Component Reliability Doosan engineers reliability and durability into every component on the DX Series. Research and development of each component is based on a 10,000 hour component life. This translates into more uptime on the Doosan machines.

DX Series Maintenance Doosan has engineered the DX Series for ease of maintenance, promoting lower operating costs and more productivity on the work site. Ease of Maintenance Doosan is committed to giving every Doosan customer maximum uptime with the lowest operating costs and space. All the routine maintenance items on the DX Series are easy to reach and engineered for long life. This keeps the Doosan machine on the job longer with a lower out-ofpocket cost when routine maintenance is performed. Doosan clearly labels the electrical wiring for quick identification and provides organized routing of all hydraulic hoses. Fuel Filters The DX Series fuel system has double filtration. The water separator/fuel filter can be easily reached from the ground for routine maintenance and has a fuel primer in the filter head. The primary fuel filter is located on the engine, maintaining a clean fuel supply to the high-pressure fuel pump. Oil Filter The engine oil filter has a high level of filtration, allowing an extended service interval to 500 hours. Hydraulic Filter The full flow return filter on the DX Series has been greatly improved through the use of a glass fiber filtering material. This translates to 99.5% filtering efficiency and extended service intervals. Air Cleaner The air cleaner on the DX Series has a positive sealing cap, keeping out more than 99% of all airborne particles. This means increased engine life while extending service intervals. Engine Access The engine can be easily serviced from the top and bottom. A large engine hood on the top allows easy access to the top side of the engine, while a hinged belly pan allows easy access to the bottom of the engine. Both translate into lower maintenance time and cost. Debris Screens The oil cooler and the air-to-air aftercooler of the DX Series are protected by fine mesh debris screens. The screens can be easily removed for routine maintenance. The cooler groups on most DX Series machines are a side-by-side design for easier cleaning.

DX Series Maintenance (Cont'd) Reversible Cooling Fan (DX420/DX480/DX520 Only) During operation, forward rotation helps maintain optimum cooling, while a conveniently located switch allows the operator to reverse the rotation of the fan to help remove dust and foreign material from the cooler, reducing maintenance time and improving cooling efficiency. Built-in Diagnostic Tools Through the LCD monitor, a technician can monitor critical system values, analog inputs and digital inputs. Also, real-time and past service codes can be reviewed from the LCD monitor. No laptop or special software are needed. Doosan Monitoring System The DMS (Doosan Monitoring System) diagnostic program allows the technician to communicate with the EPOS controller and monitors all critical data of the machine from a laptop. Also, real time and past service codes can be accessed for faster system diagnostics. Machine operational history can also be monitored. The E-doctor diagnostic tool allows the technician to check all the critical systems of the engine.

DX Series Comfort With one of the largest cabs in the industry, Doosan operators of any size can obtain an operational profile to maximize comfort, safety, and productivity. The standard ROPS cabin on the DX140LC- DX480LC is now pressurized to keep the operator environment cleaner and more comfortable. Operator Cabin The Doosan operator will find one of the largest cabs in the industry on the DX Series, with plenty of room to spare. Operator Seat With a 6-way or 8-way seat adjuster, every operator can adjust the DX Series seat to your personal comfort level. The control stand and seat move independently of each other both forward and backward. The control stands also move up and down, allowing you to find the perfect position that makes the entire workday more enjoyable. Always fasten your seat belt when operating. Windows Visibility is key to a productive operator. The DX Series has large windows all the way around for optimum visibility. The window joint between the upper and lower front glass is small to maximize visibility. The windshield wiper is mounted on the cabin frame, out of the operator's line of site. Also, the DX Series has a large roof hatch with sunshade for good visibility overhead or ventilation when needed. Control Stand To increase operator comfort, the control stand has been integrated into the seat and is attached to the seat suspension system. This allows the control joysticks and switches to move with the seat, offering more precise operation. Heat and Air Conditioning Set a temperature. The fully automatic heat and air conditioning system does the rest.
