Observations & Remedial measures 220KV Bo(T) Bo(M) line out: Severe condition 220KV D/C Aarey Borivali lines out: simulation does not converge: Mumbai System may not survive. Shifting Aarey S/S load to TPCL S/S to be explored to relieve 220KVAarey Borivali line loading. High reliability Special Protection Schemes (SPS) for automatic LS, be commissioned to avoid cascade tripping. Feasibility of HVDC /Series compensation/svc for 220KV lines DSM/EE by consumers: Pilot Schemes Feasibility of Barge based Generation (250/300MW) to feed North Mumbai Running of TPC Trombay U 4 with additional gas allocation (130 MW) for Mumbai

One bay equipment has been commissioned 1st line has been taken in service in Aug 2010. 2nd line is charged from Borivali in April 2011 Gantry for 1 Tower completed and for 2nd Tower in progress. Bottlenecks: Statutory permission for removal of trees for construction of bays /towers delayed. Due to restriction on working hours & movement of trucks imposed by Sanjay Gandhi National Park Authorities, the jobs are in progress at slower pace. 10

For faster completion of on going Transmission projects Issues to be sorted with other Authorities: ROW Mangroves CRZ Forest Hutment dwellers MCGM permission Private land.

Finally Existing Mumbai network is very Fragile. Network Strengthening: to be taken up on top priority. Progress of already approved scheme to be regularly monitored by STU. Improvements for (n 1) compliance as suggested in Dr Khaparde Report needs carried out on priority. Investigate feasibility of the 220 kv D/C Trombay (TPCL) Saki (R Infra) for relieving existing system from critical loading, during peak conditions. Connectivity at 400 kv between Vikhroli (TPCL) and Ghodbunder (R Infra) needs to be checked.
