THE AIRCRAFT PHILIPP GROUP Who we are The Aircraft Philipp Group is an owner-operated, medium-sized group of companies located at three sites in Germany. With 45 years of experience in manufacturing precision parts for the aerospace industry, we share a long-term partnership with our customers that is shaped by mutual confidence. If it comes to quality, precision, flexibility and innovation, our customers from the aerospace sector, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, medical engineering and semiconductor technology have their high-quality single and serial parts as well as complete assemblies produced by the Aircraft Philipp Group. Our strenghts is the machining of all common aerospace materials from aluminium and titanium up to high grade nickel based alloys like e.g. inconel, hastelloy, waspalloy, etc. We take pride in the fact that our parts are used in almost every project of worldwide aviation. 3

Supply chain Management Procurement - Production - Logistics Being a One Stop Shop for machining and component assembly for the international aerospace industry, we cover the complete process chain from the purchasing of raw materials and production to special processes. The decisive factor of success for the Aircraft Philipp Group is the optimization of corporate processes and the successful integration and coordination of our worldwide supply chain. This capability is permanently enhanced and further-developed. It enables us to guarantee that your special requirements are sustainably implemented on a high level of quality. 5

CAD / CAM NC Programming Our manufacturing engineers generate process reliable NC programmes using the CAD / CAM Systems CATIA V5, Hypermill 5 Axis and NCL. We program parts of different size and complexity on various vertical and horizontal milling and turning centres. The test times at the machines are reduced through the use of the machine simulation software Vericut. Our experience with our in-house production lines up perfectly with the many years of practice in the field of CAD/ CAM service. Here, we employ NC programmers in the production of our customers worldwide. Owing to the high quality of our NC programmes and the outstanding flexibility of our employees we have established a very good reputation amongst our customers. The combination of these two business areas and our 20 highly qualified NC programmers enable us to introduce even large work packages into the production within a very short lead time. 7

Series production for manufacturers of AIRCRAFT ENGINES / GAS TURBINES Milling / Turning of small parts 9
10
Series production for manufacturers of AIRCRAFT ENGINES / GAS TURBINES Rings As a manufacturer of rotating and static rings up to Ø 1.100 mm (43,3 inch) we support our customers from the prototype phase to process reliable series production. For example, we produce critical and rotating rings for the high-pressure turbine of the MTR390 engine. 11
12
Single piece production for manufacturers of AIRCRAFT ENGINES / GAS TURBINES Casings Our qualification also includes casings up to a size of 1.100 mm (43,3 inch). For instance, we machined a split case for the Geared Turbofan (GTF) test rig. 13
14
Single piece production for manufacturers of AIRCRAFT ENGINES / GAS TURBINES Disks, Shafts We produce disks and shafts primarily as single pieces. Shafts can be machined up to a maximum turning length of 3.000 mm (118,1 inch). The tie-shaft for a test setup for the Geared Turbofan (GTF) is one example. 15
16
Single piece production for manufacturers of AIRCRAFT ENGINES / GAS TURBINES Fans, Blisks, Impeller and Blades A special challenge within our customer cooperation are highly complex parts or small series that we produce rapidly during the development phase of new customer projects. Here, we have implemented a titanium fan rotor with a diameter of 820 mm for a test setup. 17
18
NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection and Magnetic Particle Inspection In order to be able to supply our customers with ready-to-install components, we have a non destructive testing department using fluorescent penetration and magnetic particle inspection. Several customer certificates like Rolls-Royce Germany, MTU Aero Engines, Liebherr Aerospace, Airbus UK as well as a NADCAP approval stand for our international high level of quality. This service is also offered as a stand-alone service. 19
20
ASSEMBLIES Ready-to-install components & assemblies The cooperation with approved suppliers (NADCAP, EN/AS 9100) allows us to produce components including surface and heat treatment, flame and plasma spraying as well as TIG and EB welding. For example, we manufacture a static seal ring including a honeycomb seal and subsequent finishing. Assembly work like self-locking threaded inserts, rivets, shoulder pins, etc. is carried out in-house by qualified experts. This allows us to deliver ready-to-install components & assemblies. 21

QUALITY ASSURANCE Coordinate measurement technology, Conductivity measurement, Hardness test, Small measurement equipment Our quality assurance is a fixed part of a successful production process. With our extensive inspection planning we ensure that all components meet the individual customer s requirements from the goods receiving until delivery. It is a matter of course to us to professionally adapt our performance to new customers and to establish the particular customer s requirements within the complete company. Our air-conditioned measurement laboratories and modern measurement equipment guarantees an exact measurement of all parts that are manufactured in our production. With the use of coordinate measurement machines in combination with offline programming on a CAD model we ensure that the amount of time needed for first article inspection can be kept as short as possible. We perform these tests according to the regular aviation standards like EN/AS 9100 / EN/AS 9102. For an economic series production, we also employ small measurement tools and perform conductivity measurements, hardness tests as well as surface and coating thickness measurements. 23
24
QUALITY MANAGEMENT Full scale certification. We regard our quality management system as a core task and most important tool to improve our processes and performances. It fully meets the requirements of EN/AS 9100. In addition to EN/AS 9100, we have several customer specific certificates like Rolls-Royce Germany, MTU Aero Engines, Airbus Germany, Airbus UK, RUAG Aerospace, Premium Aerotec, Eurocopter and Pilatus. Our customers confirm regularly that our quality management system is understood and lived actively. We take our commitment towards our environment very seriously. This is evidenced by our certification as per DIN EN ISO 14001. 25
