5 Temperatures 5.1 Overview All customer premise devices are air-cooled and should be kept in a well-ventilated area at normal room temperature. Above normal operating temperature, the system fan will automatically increase airflow in order to prevent overheating. To determine the source of any temperature problems, a physical inspection of the router is required to determine whether: a) any fans have failed in the router or b) airflow is impeded. 5.2 Juniper SRX high temperature response Juniper SRX devices increase fan speeds when any component exceeds a temperature of 55 C. The fans remain at the higher speed, until the temperature decreases below the threshold. In this case, there is no service impact. However, if the temperature exceeds 75 C, the router automatically shuts down. 5.3 Extreme X440 high temperature response Extreme 400 devices increase fan speeds when any component exceeds a temperature of 48 C. The fans remain at the higher speed, until the temperature decreases below the threshold. In this case, there is no service impact. However, if the temperature exceeds 70 C, the router automatically shuts down.
