ALTITUDE KIT HIGH ALTITUDE REPLACEMENT KIT Engine performance decreases as altitude increases. Proper operation can be ensured by installing an altitude kit when required. See the table below to determine when an altitude kit is required. Operating this generator without the proper altitude kit installed may increase the engine s emissions and decrease fuel economy and performance. ALTITUDE KIT FOR 79CC GASOLINE INVERTER - Westinghouse Part No. 140540 Altitude Range Kit Part Number Number on Jet 0-2000ft Not required NA 2000-3000ft 140540 - A 75 3000-6000ft 140540 - B 74 6000-7000ft 140540 - C 73 ALTITUDE KIT FOR 98CC GASOLINE INVERTER - Westinghouse Part No. 140542 Altitude Range Kit Part Number Number on Jet 0-2000ft Not required NA 2000-3000ft 140542 - A 75 3000-6000ft 140542 - B 74 6000-7000ft 140542 - C 73 Please note: This high altitude kit is to be used at elevations above 2000 feet. At elevations above 7000 feet, the engine may experience decreased performance, even with the high altitude kit. If the carburetor is replaced, the proper high altitude kit jet will need to be installed into the replacement carburetor. The warranty may be void if necessary adjustments are not made for high altitude use. DO NOT throw away any carburetor jets. You may need them again if you change altitude of operation. WARNING! TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM FIRE: Perform kit procedures in a well ventilated area away from ignition sources. If the engine is hot from use, shut the engine off and wait for it to cool before proceeding. Do not smoke near generator. It is recommended to completely drain all the gasoline from the fuel tank and carburetor float. See owners manual for proper instructions on how to safely drain fuel. HAK8.03.18

To install a high altitude kit, follow these Operation Steps: 1. Make sure the engine is off and the generator is cold. 2. Remove the 2 screws that secure the engine maintenance panel to the frame. Slide off the spark access cover and push out on panel to remove. 3. Remove the three bolts at the bottom of the engine access panel and the single bolt near the front air vents. 4. Remove the 3 screws at the top of the housing. 5. Remove the 2 screws at the top of the control panel and the 2 screws under the control panel.

6. Remove the screw in the middle of the engine control switch. Pull the front panel off. 7. Using a flat head screw driver remove the clip located under the rubber fuel collector. 6. Remove the 6 screws that hold the muffler to the inverter. Remove the muffler. 7. Remove the two screws on the opposite side of the handle. Pull off the entire housing to gain access to the carburetor. 8. Pull off the breather tube. Make sure to keep in clean area away from debris. 9. Remove the two nuts that secure the air filter to the carburetor.

10. Remove screw in middle of the air cleaner. 12. Remove the bolt inside the air filter and the bolt on the right side that secures it to the engine mount. Remove the air filter assembly. 13. Loosen screw on choke connection and pull out the choke wire. Be careful not to bend. 14. Remove screw that holds choke wire to the carburetor. 15. Remove the two screws on the stepper motor and pull it off the carburetor. 16. Push up the gas tank and slide off the carburetor off of the stud bolts. 17. Place container under to carburetor to catch fuel in the bowl. Remove bolt at bottom of carburetor float bowl.

18. Refer to tables on page 1, install the proper high altitude jet on the carburetor, and assemble the carburetor properly, the torque of bolt on carburetor is: 8 10N.m. DO NOT DISCARD OLD CARBURETOR JET. 19. Make sure to replace o-ring (provided) where the bowl meets the carburetor. Also replace the bolt seal (provided) on the bottom of the carburetor. 20. Slide the carburetor back onto the stud bolts. 21. Reinstall the stepper motor. Make sure to properly align the shaft. 22. Reinstall the choke cable and clip to the top of the carburetor. Slide the cable through the eye of the choke shaft and tighten screw. 23. Slide the air cleaner onto the stud bolt and tighten the two bolts to secure it to the carburetor.

24. Replace the two bolts that secure the air filter to the engine. 25. Place air filter back in and secure cover with screw. 26. Reinstall the breather tube. 27. Reinstall the inverter housing. Refer to steps 2-7 for placement of bolts, clips and screws to secure housing. 28. Start generator to make sure it properly operates. For troubleshooting contact our service team. NOTE: If you move the generator back to a location below 2000 feet of elevation, you will need to reinstall the original carburetor jet. PLEASE KEEP ALL PARTS YOU REMOVED FOR FUTURE USE.
