This ensures that the spacing between the rotor axes is absolutely constant for smooth-running and a long service life. Reinforced gear pan In vulnerable regions the gear pan is reinforced with a central strut in which the bearing housings are welded. 9

Thick-walled gear sump made of fine-grained steel extremely resistant to twisting. Slanted gear sump - earth can flow through unhindered without building up. Bearings are tightly sealed with labyrinth seals and shaft seals complete reliability. The lower bearing is located close to the tine carrier disc - no stress on the bearing, lower wear. 0,7 / 18 mm (0,5 / 12 mm 100 series) thick dual tines made from hardened boron steel long service life. Tines made for durability The tines are the critical interface to the seedbed. The penetration of the soil needs to be optimised so that crumbling is completely uniform. LION power harrow tines are swept inwards and slanted to the rear. The soil is loosened intensively and crumbled near the surface. Larger clods and harvest residues can flow through lower down. Material: 0,7 / 18 mm (0,5 / 12 mm 100 series) thick dual tines made from hardened boron steel. The tines are hardened across the full thickness of the material. Hardened right through! Quick fix rapid tine changer It's this easy: 1 Remove two linch pins and lock pins. 2. Remove the two tine pieces. 3. Insert the new tines between the tine carrier and clamping plate. 4. Secure in place using the bolts and linch pins. That s all there is to it! The lock pins and linch pins are protected against dirt and working loose by a cover. Mulch drilling tine for optimum germination Mulch drilling and erosion protection are gaining in importance. Field experience has revealed that harvest trash should only cover the uppermost part of the soil. If straw is worked to seedbed depth the water needed for proper germination may be prevented from reaching the seed. Pöttinger has developed a mulch drilling tine especially for this application. This tine can be implemented aggressively pointing forwards, or can be trailed. Angled forwards, the tines break up the soil from underneath and harvest trash is spread only on the surface of the soil. The finer earth is located at the depth of the seed, whereas larger clods remain on the surface to protect against erosion. The tine is 0,7 / 18 mm thick and features blades on both sides. The Quick fix system enables you to change quickly and easily to the trailed position. 11

The right setting Setting up for different soil conditions must be quick and uncomplicated. Well thought-out details simplify the number of actions that need to be made. Depth adjustment precision control The trailed roller determines the working depth. The adjustment is made using a pin in hole matrix. The power harrow can move upwards independently of the roller to evade bumps in the ground or foreign objects. The trailed roller is always in full contact with the ground. This protects both the tines and the machine. Levelling plate for a smooth seedbed Levelling plates are suitable for working on uneven ground. The levelling plate grades and smoothes the earth. Its triangular cross-section prevents a build-up of soil. The levelling plate can also be mounted between the power harrow and the trailed roller for an especially fine-crumbled and flat seedbed. The height of the levelling plate can easily be adjusted. Side plates freely suspended and height-adjustable The height of these plates can be infinitely-variable adjusted to prevent side ridges forming. Side plate springs can also be supplied for deeper working depths. The side plates can be fully raised. To raise the plates the springs are released, the plate hinged upwards, and the spring engaged with the mounting lug again. This reduces the transport width and improves access to the rotors for cleaning and maintenance. Track eradicators loosens compressed soil Track eradicators can be supplied with the power harrow if required. On Pöttinger machines these are spring-loaded to protect against stones and foreign objects. The working depth can be adjusted without using any tools. Two track eradicators can be fitted on each side of the machine for tractors with wide tyres or twin wheels. Hydraulic weight alleviation there isn t a more reliable system Two hydraulic cylinders with accumulators take the weight of the power harrow when clearing obstacles. The counter pressure is applied to the trailed roller. The power harrow evades the obstacle without affecting the position of the trailed roller. The hydraulic pressure can be adjusted using the tractor's hydraulics and pressure gauge. 12

Reducing costs is top priority in arable farming. Considerable savings can be made with power harrow/seed drill combinations. Not all soil is the same. Pöttinger offers a wide range of trailed rollers to match every type of soil. The whole range of rollers features precision manufacturing and robust design engineering. Cage Roller The lightweight roller for working on dry, non-sticking soil. 9 strong bars provide the best packing effect. The cage drum roller is available with a diameter of 16.5 and 21.3 / 420 mm and 540 mm. Cage drum rollers require virtually zero maintenance. Packer Roller The toothed packing roller is an all-rounder suitable for every type of soil. The roller leaves a loose, fine seedbed at drilling level with ideal repacking. The scrapers are located just above the surface of the soil. That is why even in wet conditions slabs of earth cannot be lifted up the best possible capillary condi - tions are achieved for germination of the seed. The scrapers can be adjusted individually, or as a group from a central point. They can be pivoted away to make cleaning easier. The scrapers are reversible for a longer service life. Roller diameter: 16.5/19,6 or 21.7 / 420/500 or 550 mm. The teeth on the roller are heattreated in the Pöttinger hardening centre in Landsberg (Germany). Wavy Ring Packer Roller This roller is especially suitable for heavy, clay soils. Processing with this roller achieves a deep packing effect with loose crumbling near the soil surface. Scrapers prevent soil sticking to the roller. 20.7 / 525 mm diameter lighter than the toothed packing roller. a reliable connection VITASEM linkage-mounted machines These linkage-mounted seed drills can be used in combination with a power harrow, or on their own. The heavy duty framework can take considerable loads. The seed box is located close to the headstock; the centre of gravity is right forward to take the strain off the tractor's hydraulics. The running (6.00-16 - VITASEM 400 10.00/75-15.3) wheels are also located close to the centre of gravity of the machine. The large wheels are used to power the seed drill shaft and spread the pressure the machine exerts on the ground more evenly. The three-point linkage (Cat. II) with freely-sus - pended carrier axle enables rapid coupling and improved ground hugging. Drive system ideally positioned The implement-mounted seed drills feature a land wheel that runs within the width of the machine to guarantee best contact with the ground. The large diameter of the wheel develops plenty of torque in the drive system for smooth, jolt-free operation of the drill shaft. As an option the land wheels can be raised hydraulically at headlands from the tractor seat. 19

MULTISOW SYSTEM A unique seed metering system is the trademark of the VITASEM seed drill. The sowing wheels are suitable for all kinds of standard seed types. Three rows of offset cams (3 x 12 notches) deposit the seed precisely and uniformly. The Multi sowing system handles any seed with accuracy, from 0.8 to 356 lbs/acre / 0.9 kg to 400 kg/ha. Pöttinger calls this system "top metering". For drilling finer grain seed a cover is simply inserted over the three-piece seed wheel and the direction of rotation reversed. Small indents on the rear side of the seed wheel notches pick up just a single grain, and deliver it over the top of the wheel into the funnel. Single-grain principle. Suitable for fine seed types such as rape, clover, poppy, etc. Seed coverage between 0.8 and 3.6 lbs/acre or 0.9 and 4.0 kg/ha. 21

AEROSEM - Mounting pneumatic seed drills Yield at harvest is influenced by precision seed placement. Uniform seed placement is inseparable from the aim of reducing the seed flow rate. The costs that can be saved on the distribution of often very expensive quality seed using improved drill systems has an enormous financial impact. The AEROSEM pneumatic seed drill series is tuned to requirements in the field and makes a considerable contribution to cost effective operation. AEROSEM seed drills can be fitted quickly and easily to tillage machinery. A Frame mounting with quick-release couplings on both sides provides a secure mounting. The drill machine is parked on supports at each side. Versatile seed hopper filling systems The seed hopper is position so that the bulk of its weight is very close to the tractor. Less weight is taken off the front axle of the tractor and manoeuvrability is improved. This large dust and water-tight seed hopper is fitted with a metal cover, and a hinged metal cover on the series 1000. The front cover element can be opened for inspection purposes. This achieves a uniform drive characteristic. The 750 mm diameter wheel has a large area of contact with the ground and minimises slippage. A hydraulic land wheel lifting system is also available. Coulter rails best material quality The coulter rails consist of a twist-resistant profile tube. The space between the front and rear coulter rail gang is 14 / 350 mm. This makes sure that even large quantities of harvest trash cannot become entangled. 27

The sowing system The sowing system consists of a large metering wheel with 2 x 12 staggered cells. 24 fine metering cells are located on each side. The drive shaft of the metering wheel can be shifted quickly and easily. The rough or fine metering wheels are thus switched on and off by shifting the drive shaft. The cells draw a constant flow of seed from the seed hopper and feeds it into the centre of the rising air stream. The large, low-noise blower is driven by belts or by a hydraulic motor. The distributor head has up to 40 outlets. Seed that is not required falls back Riser tube (hight 600 mm!) Careful seed transport The seed wheels feed the seed into the centre of the rising air stream. This ensures that the seed cannot contact the side walls of the riser tube. The track eradicators have a diameter of 16 / 400 mm and can operate trouble-free on heavy soil. After working in the field Emptying the seed hopper An opening is located underneath the seed wheels. Front tank seed drills The professional machine for drilling large areas. The split type AEROSEM is designed for use with the seed hopper, blower and metering system mounted in front of the tractor. Only the distributor head, seed lines, coulter rails and the seed coulter system are located at the rear end of the tractor. The considerable advantages offered by this system are the improved weight distribution and 20% lower power requirement. The operator has a better overview of the seed drill components than with rear-mounted seed drills. On pneumatic seed drills with wide working widths rear-mounted machines often exceed the axle load limits of the tractor. Steering becomes very difficult as a result. With the front tank version the hopper acts as ballast on the front axle. Reduced pressure on the ground and safe travel across slopes speak for the AEROSEM F from Pöttinger. Mounting Mounting is extremely straightforward thanks to a quickrelease coupling system. The seed drill can be mounted on folding tillage machines. Distribution systems The AEROSEM F has two metering units, each with one rough and two fine seed wheels. Hopper filling options The front-mounted hopper can be filled using an auger, BigBags or a tipper. There is a considerable advantage using a tipper. The top edge height of the hopper is just 1280 mm. The blower is driven by the PTO shaft and a reversing gear. A hydraulic blower drive system is also available for tractors without a front PTO. The blower is dimensioned so that a reliable seed flow rate is maintained even if the PTO speed drops. 32

AEROSEM F 5000 / 6000 The metering system is driven by a land wheel. The land wheel runs behind the seed drill within the width of the machine. Pulses transmitted by the land wheel are processed by the on-board computer and sent to an infinitely-variable oil motor. The exact seed flow rate can be controlled from the driver's seat. Seed distribution Two distributors on the coulter rails distribute the seed with precision right across the whole working width. The tramline computer automatically reduces the seed flow rate and returns unused seed into the air stream. Seed savings of up to 6 %. Folding The coulter rails can be folded up and locked hydraulically for road transport. 33

TERRASEM mulch seed drills The new TERRASEM Conventional drills designed for small to medium-sized farming operations are almost exclusively hitch-mounted. The result: heavy loading of the tractor's rear axle, or where separate chassis are implemented, an extended operating length. Soil damage due to compaction becomes largely unavoidable. The new TERRASEM from Pöttinger is different: compact and manoeuvrable. The universal machine can be used for both mulch drilling and conventional sowing. Lead tillage tools for precise operation Professionals expect a level seedbed with fine earth on top for uniform seed germination and plant growth. That is why Pöttinger offers a choice of lead tillage tools: a star rotor harrow and a compact disc harrow. Twin-gang, spring-loaded star rotor harrow. This low-drag harrow is especially suitable for light soil types. Twin-gang disc harrow with 24 smooth-edged concave discs. This universal harrow is also good on heavy soil with large quantities of harvest trash. The maintenance-free, rubber-mounted discs have a diameter of 20 / 510 mm to loosen the soil on the surface providing a layer of fine-structured earth at seed placement depth. The harrow discs are mounted on twin-race angular contact bearings. The bearings are sealed no lubrication needed. Non-stop trip leg system Each disc is mounted on a thick-walled square cross section tube (SG 50). 4 rubber elements enable the discs to evade stones and rocks. This non-stop trip leg system is completely maintenance-free! Lead tillage tools can be adjusted hydraulically for infinitely-variable depth setting. 34

-Concept Mounting refined and rapid A mounting bar makes it easy to attach to the lower linkage. Alternative lugs are available in the form of Cat. III, width III or Cat. II width II. The drawbar is linked to the mounting bar using a heavy-duty rotary joint which allows axial compensation. The long drawbar provides clearance for a turning angle of up to 90, even with twin tyres or high flotation terra tyres. 35

Unique tyre packer chassis The additional support wheels have been replaced with a combined packer and chassis unit. As a result the machine is much shorter. The advantages are improved manoeuvrability and less weight. In the field: The inside and outside wheel pairs are locked together in the field to distribute the weight of the drill evenly. The weight of the machine is therefore fully supported by all wheels at the end of each row. This is a system that protects the soil and prevents lasting damage due to compaction. Each tyre covers a width of 3 seed drills. Road transport: The inside and outer pairs of wheels can be disengaged for road transport. The outer wheel pairs bear the weight of the whole machine while the inner wheel pairs are unlocked. Much higher travelling speeds are then possible on the road. The wheel pairs can be equipped with hydraulic or air brakes, to ensure safe and reliable braking at speeds of up to 25 mph / 40 kph. 36

High-performance blower The oversized radial-flow blower is driven by a hydraulic motor. Running at 3000 rpm to deliver a high air volume, the blower speed can fluctuate by up to 500 rpm without affecting the accuracy of seed metering. Seed coulter system optimum match Successful sowing is dependent on closelymatched tools for opening the drill, placing the seed and covering the seed drill again. The disc coulter has a long tradition in seed drill process technology as a cutting and opening tool and is the most important instrument for precision seed placement. Each individual seed coulter is clamped to the coulter rail by rubber dampers. The rubber mounting elements eliminate juddering to ensure a uniform seed placement depth. The rubber elements protect the coulters on stony ground. The pressure on the drill coulters can be adjusted hydraulically between 40 and 80 kg per coulter depending on the operating conditions and travelling speed. The depth of the seed can be set by adjusting the pressure roll. A spindle provides infinitely-variable adjustment. The seedbed is levelled behind the coulters by a spring-loaded 2-piece tine. The angle and pressure of all the trailed tines can be adjusted using a single turnbuckle. A three-point hitch system for the coulter rails for excellent ground hugging. These hydraulic disc-type track eradicators (16 / 400 mm diameter) are fitted with a breakaway device. Automatic engagement is provided using a pre selection switch. 38

The coulters units are equipped with ball bearingmounted disc coulters. These rotating discs are serrated and dished inwards, each trailed by its own wide rubber pressure roller. Each unit is mounted on an independent parallelogram to ensure ultimate ground tracking. TERRASEM 6000 T Mounting configuration In the working position the TERRASEM 6000 T rests on the packer rollers of the tillage implement and the coulter rail pressure rolls. This provides excellent seed drill closure and packing. At headlands and on the road the seed drill is supported on large, wide tyres. An additional brake system provides additional safety on the road. The transport width is approx. 8 2 / 2.5 metres; the height less than 13 2 / 4.0 metres. Seed coulter and trailed tine options ORegardless of whether you are operating on light soil, heavy soil, dry soil or damp soil the best possible placement of the seed is the key to a successful harvest. Different shapes of coulter with a gang spacing of 12 / 300 mm (VITASEM) or 14 / 350 mm (AEROSEM) prevent clogging even when opera ting in harvest trash. The standard Suffolk coulter is suitable for most soil conditions. A spring-loaded protective flap covers the coulter if the machine moves backwards, opening again automatically. The Pöttinger constant pressure system Reliable germination can only be achieved if the seed is placed at a consistent depth. The coulters follow the contours of the soil up and down with precision. Consistent coulter pressure is achieved even around obstructions. Depth control skids on the coulter ensure consistent seed placement depth, especially on light soils. 42 The wide band coulter is usually implemented for sowing grassland, although it is also gaining interest in cereal crops. The seed is placed over a width of 80 mm. The seeds drop onto a wedge which distri - butes them over the width of the coulter. A protective flap closes the coulter if the machine moves backwards. Disc coulters Pöttinger machines use the single-disc system. The double-disc coulter system has the disadvantage that it does not always cut right through harvest residues. If straw is pressed into the seed drill the water needed for proper germination may be prevented from reaching the seed. Corrugated disc coulters are best for mulch drilling or situations with a lot of organic matter. The Pöttinger disc coulters run diagonally to open the drill push brittle straw trash or decomposing residues to the side. Uniform seed distribution is achieved in combination with a Suffolk-style seed metering system. Rotating scrapers prevent earth from sticking to the disc. A pressure roller can be provided to compact the soil and serve as a depth guide. Disc coulters and pressure rollers are fitted with deep groove ball bearings.

Vertical tines These lightweight tines are mounted right behind the coulters. Ideal for light soil. Standard tines Twin row version with trailed tines. The tine gang is split in the middle and is freely-suspended. The tines operate trouble-free even with high levels of harvest trash. Perfekt tines Designed to achieve an intensive levelling effect. All double tines are spring-loaded using an individual spring. The tines are adjusted manually from a central point. A hydraulic tine pressure system is also available. VITASEM and AEROSEM seeding machines can adapt ideally to different soil conditions with three different types of trailed tines. The tines are split and can be adjusted individually. The angle of the tines can be adapted to all soil conditions.
