Conditions of Minibus Use 1. All drivers of the bus MUST be between 23 years and 70 years of age. Our insurance does not permit anyone aged 70 years or over to drive the minibus. You should have either passed your test prior to 1 January 1997 or have held a full UK Driving Licence for at least 3 years with no current penalty points/convictions. Under the Community Bus Permit Scheme you are able to drive our bus if you meet the following conditions: i) You drive under a non-commercial body for social purposes on a voluntary basis. ii) You have held a clean Category B licence for at least 3 years. iii) The Minibus maximum weight does not exceed 3.5 tonnes.(this is the current weight of the minibus) iv) You do NOT tow a trailer. For insurance purposes all Driving Licences should be provided at least 3 working days before hire date. Please include both photo and paper licences where available. For those that do not have paper copies of their licence, please go to https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence where you can access your licence details and either print them off or get a check code which you provide to us on the booking form so that we can view your licence information. The drivers MUST be the people whose licence has been provided to us. Anyone who s licence has not been provided is not permitted to drive the minibus! It is highly recommended that potential drivers familiarise themselves with the bus BEFORE using it to transport groups. 2. The bus has a fully comprehensive insurance policy for use as stated in paragraph 1. The hirer is reminded that the bus is only insured for 14 passengers (+ driver). The bus should not be overloaded under any circumstances. 3. The cost of using the minibus is 50.00 refundable deposit which is payable on booking and will be refunded as per conditions. 5.00 Booking Fee to secure your booking and then 60p per mile. Should you wish to take the minibus away overnight there will be a charge of 20 per night. 4. THE BUS USES DIESEL. The cost of DIESEL used is met by the hirer using the bus. The hirer of the bus should receive the bus with a full tank of DIESEL and is responsible for returning the bus with a full tank. The tank should be filled up IMMEDIATELY before returning to the Centre. We have an account at Crosbie & Bateman where you can sign for fuel during opening hours. If you fill up elsewhere/outwith garage hours PLEASE PROVIDE A RECEIPT as proof of purchase. Failure to do so may lead to you paying for fuel twice! 5. The Minibus is NON SMOKING. If any group is found to have smoked on the bus then they will lose a percentage of their deposit. 6. It is a condition of the hire that the bus is clean and tidy on return. There is equipment on the bus for this purpose! If the bus is returned in an untidy or dirty condition you will lose 20.00 of your deposit.
7. The minibus has a log sheet which must be filled in giving starting mileage, finishing mileage and reporting faults. You are also required to fill in your start/finish mileage and fuel with regards to your journey on the Completion of Hire form provided with these conditions. 8. Keys for the minibus can be collected and bookings made by contacting the administrator at the Community Centre on 01557 331281, email: kbtcommunitycentre@btinternet.com, or in person at the Community Centre, St Mary s Wynd, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4JU. If you are unable to collect keys during office hours alternative arrangements will need to be made. Please ensure that you have been issued a slip with collection details on it. This can be obtained from the Administrator. Keys are expected to be returned immediately after the trip. If the Community Centre is closed upon return from your journey, please put the keys with the above mentioned Completion of Hire form in the post box attached to the wall at the entrance. 9. THE BUS SHOULD ALWAYS BE RETURNED TO SAINT CUTHBERT WANDERERS FOOTBALL GROUND. 10. The hirer will be responsible for making good any damage caused to the bus through negligence, vandalism etc. Any traffic offences incurred during your hire e.g. speeding/parking should be reported to the Community Centre upon return of your journey. The Speed Limits for the Minibus are as follows: Type of Vehicle Buses, Coaches & Minibuses (not more than 12 metres overall length). Built Up Area Single Carriagway Duel Carriageway Motorway 30mph 50mph 60mph 70mph 11. Failure to notify a cancellation within 48 hours of your booking date will lead to a 10.00 charge being made.
Kirkcudbright Community Centre Important Notice for Bus Drivers Would all drivers please note that because of the design of the bus it is not meant to be used as an off road vehicle and must not be driven over farm or country tracks. Care must also be taken to avoid potholes, and the driver is requested to slow down when approaching and driving over road bumps, or sleeping policemen. When picking up or offloading passengers, please try to ensure that the bus is on a level surface. If this is not possible, the sliding door must be held open while passengers are getting on and off the bus. In the event of any damage to the bus as a result of an infringement of the above the Community Centre will seek recompense from the hirer/driver for any repairs, if it is proven that the hirer/driver was negligent in their duty of care. ACCIDENT PROCEDURE Providing all casualties have been dealt with, the following points should be kept in mind. 1. DO NOT ADMIT LIABILITY FOR THE ACCIDENT 2. IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT, DO NOT MOVE THE BUS UNTIL THE POLICE GIVE YOU AUTHORITY TO DO SO. 3. GET NAMES AND ADDRESSESS OF ANY WITNESSES 4. IF THE OTHER PARTY ADMIT LIABILITY, GET IT IN WRITING, DO NOT ACCEPT A VERBAL STATEMENT. 5. EXCHANGE FULL INSURANCE DETAILS INCLUDING REGISTRATION NUMBERS. THESE SHOULD BE FOUND IN THE FOLDER ON THE BUS. 6. MAKE A SKETCH OF THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT AND INCLUDE A BRIEF REPORT ABOUT WEATHER CONDITIONS 7.
