Thank you for your interest in joining Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club! Our organization exists in order to promote unicycling in the Snoqualmie Valley and throughout the region. The club is open to all: beginners through experts, children and adults. Not only is unicycling an exciting and challenging sport, but it also teaches valuable life skills such as persistence, focus, teamwork and belief in oneself. Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club, a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status, operates out of the North Bend Elementary School gymnasium. Our club is made up of riders who are self-directed, self-motivated and willing to help others while having fun learning new skills. In addition to teaching skills necessary to ride a unicycle, we offer riders opportunities to share their experience with the community by way of parades, performances, and other events. Practices are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when school is open, from early October until just before Spring Break. Unicycles are available for use during practices at no additional charge. Monday Purpose: Learning Skills Who: Everyone Schedule: Beginner thru Level 4 Time: 4pm-5:15pm (Instruction 4pm-4:30pm) Level 5 Level 10 4:30pm-5:45pm Adult support is highly recommended to support your rider(s) optimum learning success Tuesday Purpose: Open Gym Who: Level 2+ Time: October-December Schedule: Team Sports & Other Disciplines 4pm-5pm Open Testing & Individual Practice 5pm-5:45pm During first hour, the gym will be used for team sports, trials, flatland, and other activities on a rotating schedule. The last 45 minutes will be reserved for those wishing to test for a USA Level and/or practice their skills in a self-directed manner. Purpose: NAUCC Practice Who: Everyone Time: January - April 4pm-5:45pm Practice for any rider who intends to compete at the North American Unicycle Championships & Convention. Gym time will primarily be focused on artistic routines, though other disciplines may be included as well. NOTE: After Spring Break, NAUCC Practice will extend to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 4pm-5:45pm each day. Adult Support required. Wednesday Purpose: Performance Squad Who: Level 2+ Time: 4pm-5:45pm Performance Squad Practice (Riders USA Level 2 and higher who perform at parades, half-time shows and other events). Acceptance form must be turned in by the first Performance Squad Practice that is attended.

Due to the length of our season, it is completely acceptable for a rider to start at any point during the season. Likewise, we understand that riders may have seasonal conflicts, whether due to heavier homework/projects, sports practices or other activities. Riders are encouraged to come whenever they are available. Safety is a priority to Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club. Our safety rules include: Helmets are required for all Beginner through USA Level 4 riders, and for every rider on a giraffe or taller unicycle. In addition, any rider participating in an outdoor riding event shall wear a helmet regardless of USA Skill Level. All riders are required to remain in the gym until they are picked up by an adult. For the safety of our riders, we require all guests to remain out of the riding area. This includes parents who are not assisting their child plus all siblings, grandparents, etc. Riders shall wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Clothes should not be too constricting, nor so loose that they may catch on the unicycle. Athletic shoes are required, and those with flat soles (e.g. Converse or Vans brands) are highly recommended. [Note: riders who participate in parades and performances will be asked to have black shoes in order to provide a consistent uniform among riders] We request that parents/guardians support these safety requests in action and in word. Enclosed in this packet are several important documents: Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club Membership Form A completed membership form with the annual membership fee ($45 for first rider in a family; $30 for each additional rider) must be submitted on or before participation in your first practice or event. Parent / Student Concussion Information Sheet In order to operate out of the Snoqualmie Valley School District facilities, we are required to make sure involved parties understand the symptoms and risks of concussions. A signed copy of this document must be submitted on or before participation in your first practice or event. Volunteer Form Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club is 100% volunteer run, and can always use a few extra hands. Volunteering doesn t have to be time-consuming, and should definitely be enjoyable, so please consider how you will give back to the club to ensure we can continue to share unicycling with our community! Important note regarding Unicycling Society of America Membership The Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club must have Liability Insurance to use the Snoqualmie Valley School District facilities. We are able to provide this by being an affiliated club with the Unicycling Society of America which means that our members must also register with their organization. Beginners are exempt from this requirement, but encouraged to join regardless. Riders must join by the time they pass Level 1. Individual memberships are $20/year and family memberships are $35/year. USA Membership registration/renewal is available at uniusa.org. The primary method of communication is electronic. Most information is shared through email, and is posted on our website (www.snoqualmievalleyunicycleclub.org) and Facebook page. As a non-profit organization, Snoqualmie Valley Unicycle Club is run by a Board of Directors consisting of parents of riders, adult unicyclists and youth advisory representatives. Your feedback is always welcome so please contact us should you have questions or want to get more involved.
