ROOM CONTROL EQUIPMENT Electronic control of cooling and heating. ROOM CONTROL EQUIPMENT RWBa For sequential control of heating and cooling, or cooling/ heating only. Electromechanical actuators provide assured operations. Connection card and prefabricated cables with quick connectors facilitate installation and give immense flexibility. Regular conditioning of valves ensure operation. FUNCTIONS - Control cooling and heating in sequence. - Adapted for room control no unnecessary functions low costs. - Individual temperature control high comfort. - Universal actuator compatible with most types of actuator, with or without adapters. AREAS OF APPLICATION For waterborne climate systems in connection with new installations, expansion and renovation. RWBa has been developed for Stifab Farex water based climate systems. RWBa consists of: Regulator with integrated temperature sensor, electromechanical actuator, valve housing, prefabricated cables with quick connectors and connection card. Regulation function: PI or P (resettable). Supply voltage: 24 V AC. RWBa We reserve the right to change the technical specification. 169

STIFAB FAREX ROOM REGULATOR EQUIPMENT ADVANTAGES OF RWBa Sequential control of heating and cooling. The regulator has adjustable regulation function, P or PI. Basic circuit diagram The connection card and prefabricated cables are used with series installation. This facilitates installation and gives a flexible solution. With modified room division only the electrical cables need to be re-routed. Up to 10 actuator pairs (10+10) per regulator. Reliable and energy saving three position electromechanical actuator. The actuator only consumes current during the period it is working (opens or closes). The actuator is not fed with current in both the open and closed positions. The equipment requires no trimming, the operating parameters are pre-programmed for comfort control. The system has clear operating display. The actual operating mode is shown on the regulator and the valve s position is shown on the actuator via the position indicator. Test/Start up function that allows function checks during commissioning. This function also makes it possible to open all valves centrally, which makes venting the system easier. The valves are conditioned regularly to prevent jamming. The sensors for the changeover function can be connected to the regulator, external temperature sensor and currentless, normally closed contacts, for example, a window contact. FUNCTION Sequential control of heating and cooling. With higher temperatures than the set point value the cooling actuator opens the cooling valve and when the temperature drops below the set desired value by 2K the heating valve opens. The control functions are set for PI control. The I section detects the size as well as the duration of the control deviations so that remaining deviations are eliminated. The control parameters are set for comfort control, which means that the temperature can be set within the range 18 C to 26 C with cooling and 16 C and 24 C with heating. The neutral zone between cooling mode and heating mode is 2K. The regulator conditions the valves if they have not moved for eighteen hours. The regulator s pre-programmed Test/Start up function permits control of regulator and actuator functionality. The regulator opens and closes in fixed steps. This also permits all valves on the loop to be opened centrally, for example, when venting the system. Currentless normally open contacts, e.g. the window contact, can be connected to the regulator s screw terminal to set the operating parameters to economy mode or frost protection mode. RWBa, with prefabricated cables and connection card Function Heating requirement Heating valve Output signal/valve mode (% open) 100% 80% 50% Cooling valve 2K Neutral zone Cooling requirement Example: Room temperature = 24 C Valve opens 50% and the regulator starts to acts to Set desired value - 22 Copen or close valves depending on the cooling requirement. Installation RWBa, connection to perimeter unit Farline using factory fitted actuators and connection cards. INSTALLATION Installation is easy to carry out using prefabricated cables and connection cards with quick connectors. See the figure to the right. RWBa, connected to a chilled beam and radiator 170

The branches are marked with blue and red tape for orientation to the colour codes on the connection card. Installation: Securing holes on the outside of the enclosure or using a bracket against the wall (perimeter wall system). The product is ce Ce marked and complies with EU s demands regarding EMC and LVD. CABLES RWBa KL Cable, operating voltage: RWBa KL - A Prefabricated 2 wire cable 0.5 mm 2 with quick connector (male) for connection of the operating voltage between the connection cards. The cable is available in three standard lengths, 1900, 3200 and 4200 mm. The cable can be joined using a terminal block, see under accessories. Cable, slave control RWBa KL - B Prefabricated 6 wire cable 0.5 mm 2 with quick connector (male) for slave control. The cable forwards the control signal and operating voltage between cards. The cable is available in three standard lengths, 1900, 3200 and 4200 mm. The cable can be joined using a terminal block, see under accessories. 52 Connection card, transformer RWBa KK Cables 52 30 RWBa TS-1 RWBa KL - A RWBa KL - B RWBa KL - C Selection - maximum cable length The maximum cable length from the transformer connection point to the farthest actuator and maximum cable length from the regulator to the farthest actuator see the formula below. Maximum cable length ( 0.5 mm 2 ) = 672 / (2 ΣP (VA) ) P regulator = 0.5 VA P actuator = 0.8 VA Example 1. 1 regulator and 8 actuators cooling and 8 actuators heating. Maximum cable length = 672 / (2 (0.5 + 8 0.8)) = 48.5 m. Exempel 2. 24 rooms with 1 perimeter unit per room, c-c between regulators is 6 m. Tests using two transformers give the overall cable length per transformer: 24 6 / 4 = 36 m (see illustration below). Check with the formula gives: Maximum cable length = 672 / (2 6( 0.5 + 0.8)) = 43 m. As cooling and heating actuators have separate cables the maximum cable length will be equal when you have both cooling and heating actuators and when you only have cooling or heating actuators. 36 m 36 m 36 m 36 m Transformer L (end to end) Transformer Cable lengths to perimeter system FARLINE Calculate the requisite cable length between devices by taking the measurement L (end to end as illustrated below) and add 600 mm. Select the closest, longer standard length. Regulator cable RWBa KL - C Prefabricated 6 wire cable 0.5 mm 2 with quick connector (male) for connection of the regulator to the connection card. The cable is available in standard lengths of 1500 and 3000 mm Cable selection and calculation of cable lengths for the perimeter system FARLINE see the description to the right. RWBa 173

The screw terminal is connected once the supplied cable has been disconnected (quick connection). External temperature sesnor RWBT TG External temperature sensor, length 2500 mm. Assembly set RWBT CS, clips for changeover sensor External temperature sensor RWBT TG can be used as a changeover sensor by using assembly set RWBT CS. The sensor can be fitted to 12-16 mm pipes by using the assembly set. The changeover sensor, which is connected to the regulator s screw terminal, is adapted for a 2-pipe system and can work with both cooling and heating with only one valve connected. The temperature that the sensor detects on the supply pipe determines the operating mode the regulator shall work under. External temperature sensor RWBT TG Assembly set for changeover sensor RWBT CS Adapter for motor to work with other makes of valve RWBT AV The adapter makes up the connection between the valve and the actuator. Fits dim. 10, 15 and 20 mm. Actuator RWBa ST with adapter is compatible with the following makes and types of valve: Danfoss RAV, RAV-L, RA 2000 Heimeier Oventrop Markaryd Material: White plastic. The actuator fits directly (without adapter) to all valves with threaded fitting M30 x 1.5 and stroke length <2,5 mm. 174
