Motorsport legend John Cooper saw star racing potential in the original Mini so he created a model for the track. Braking, inducing oversteer and then drifting around corners became effortless for rally drivers, thanks to its light weight and short overhangs. Racing around tight bends at high speed, now synonymous with the classic MINI go-kart feeling, laid the foundation for a succession of spectacular wins at the Monte Carlo rally. Here, the Mini proved that agile handling beats sheer power, every time. To honour Cooper s vision, the thoroughbreds of the MINI range bear the name John Cooper Works. The compact design of Alec Issigonis and racing pedigree of John Cooper have defined the Mini from the very beginning and remain hallmarks of every iteration to this day. Their legacy of innovation lives on in the latest MINI and the cutting-edge technology within. BREAKING THE MOULD IS A TRADITION FOR THE MINI. When Sir Alec Issigonis sketched his initial idea for the Mini on a tablecloth in 1956, his innovative compact design was the perfect response to some of the biggest automotive questions of his era. Almost everything about it was unconventional: he increased the track width as far as he could, mounted the engine transversely, and positioned the instrument cluster centrally for both left and right-hand drive. It takes just 18 seconds for the high-quality, electrically operated soft-top to fully open or close even when travelling at speeds of up to 19 mph. The steep front windscreen offers a clear view of the sky above. When the roof is closed, the multiple layers in the soft-top provide a high level of sound insulation and a more comfortable drive on longer journeys. 1 VERSATILITY. THE MINI CONVERTIBLE CONCEPT. 2 The woven Union Jack (1) soft-top, available from the MINI Yours customisation programme, echoes the long trad ition of MINI and the British heritage of the brand. And if you fancy a bit of fresh air during the journey, just open the integrated sunroof (2) which comes as standard. 3 The easy-load function increases the boot opening space by lifting the retracted soft-top above the compartment hatch. When the top is closed, the luggage compartment has a generous capacity of 215 l. The open tailgate can hold up to 80 kg. 12 13

THERE S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO DRIVE A MINI. There s also more than one MINI to drive away. The 1.5 L 3-cylinder engine in the MINI Cooper Convertible delivers the perfect blend of power and efficiency. Choose from a 116-hp/ 85-kW diesel version or a punchier 136-hp/100-kW petrol unit. The MINI Cooper Convertible hosts a high-gloss black safety bar, tailgate handle and radiator grille fins. The radiator grille and tailgate handle are also available in a Chrome finish upon request, as part of the Chrome Line Exterior option. COOPER S. The top-of-the-range 2.0 L 4-cylinder petrol (192 hp/141 kw) engine delivers all the power you could need. Classic features include the Honeycomb structure radiator grille in black matt with chrome border, brake-cooling air intakes in the front bumper, air scoop in the bonnet, diffuser on the rear apron and central twin-pipe exhaust system. JOHN COOPER WORKS. There s no doubt about the motorsport pedigree of the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible 231 hp/170 kw and a top speed of 150 mph (242 km/h) say it all. With an equally impressive power-to-weight ratio and maximum torque of 320 Nm, it s as dynamic as rival cars with significantly more powerful engines, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 6.6 seconds. 14 THE MINI CONVERTIBLE 15

THE BEST JOURNEYS BEGIN WITH PEACE OF MIND. 1 Never lose sight of the important things: the optional MINI Head-up Display, also available as part of the MINI Tech Pack, projects key driving information into the driver s line of sight without obstructing his view of the road. Depending on the optional equipment fitted, the information displayed can include speed limits, navigation instructions and cruise control settings. 2 The roll-over protection system integrated into the body of the car deploys in milliseconds to protect passengers, if required. It s hidden out of the way, preserving rearview visibility for both driver and passenger. This maintains the minimalist contours of the vehicle, whilst ensuring driver and passenger safety in the event of an accident. 3 A high-resolution rear-view camera, available as standard, displays a clear view of the area behind the car in the MINI Centre Instrument. The optional Driving Assistant Pack is a camera-based driver assistance system that increases safety on the road for you and others around you. It recognises and reports speed limits and no-overtaking zones. When travelling at speeds between 6.2 and 37.2 mph, pedestrian warning and approach control warning, both with light city braking function, warn drivers and automatically brake if a potential collision is detected. At higher speeds, approach control warning also registers potential collisions with vehicles ahead and preconditions the brakes for faster brake responses and shorter stopping distances. With Condition Based Servicing, your MINI automatically reminds you when certain services are due, via the control display. Because your MINI comes equipped with MINI Teleservices, it will provide us with updates independently, to help arrange the service support it needs. A built-in SIM card automatically transfers the most important vehicle information to MINI. Your local MINI Centre will then contact you to make an appointment if any maintenance is necessary. MINI Emergency Services. Sometimes the unexpected happens and at MINI we believe it s good to be prepared. If you find yourself with a motoring emergency, whether in the UK or in Continental Europe, fear not. MINI Emergency Service is on hand 24/7 for roadside assistance. If one of our specialist roadside technicians can t fix your MINI we will whisk it away to your local MINI Centre. This ensures only Genuine MINI Parts (installed by trained technicians) find their way onto your MINI. The service doesn t end there. We ll also take care of any replacement vehicle needs, vehicle recovery and re-delivery so it s as hassle free for you as possible. MINI Select. MINI s most popular finance product for new and Approved Used MINIs combines regular repayments with plenty of flexibility at the end of your agreement. Warranty. Every new MINI sold by an Authorised MINI Retailer in the UK is warranted by the MINI Retailer to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 36 months from the original date of vehicle registration. Repair work under this warranty can be carried out at any Authorised MINI Retailer or MINI Service Authorised Workshop. Every MINI also comes with a 12 Year Anti-Corrosion Warranty, which covers the vehicle against corrosion of the body panels. The painted surfaces of the car are covered by a 36 month Paintwork Warranty. This Paintwork Warranty does not cover damage to the vehicle body or under-body caused by stone impacts, scratches or dents, accident damage or other damage caused by environmental factors.
