Meridian TM EC and DRC Series Pneumatic Actuators

The Meridian TM Pneumatic Actuator DRC Series Features & Benefits: The Meridian TM Pneumatic Actuator has proven to be the most reliable actuator by providing a minimum number of dymanic seals, leading to an extremely long life. Conventional scotch yoke actuators have rod and piston seals, while the Meridian high performance actuator requires no rod seals and has a long life LOW FRICTION LIP SEAL on the piston. Seals: It is recommended that the right material is selected depending on the application: NBR - Normal application with temperature limits from -40 o C to +80 o C. Seals have good wear and tear properties. The elastomer has a shelf life of up to 5 years from assembly. Seals show a good resistance to all lubricating oils and perfom better under continuous lubrication. This is the standard seal. EPDM - Applications having air with high moisture content are recommended with EPDM. It has a better resistance for low temperature applications. Standard EPDM can stand up to -30 o C and H-EPDM is suitable up to -45 o C. It has fair resistance to wear and tear. The elastomer shelf life is up to 7 years from assembly. Low Friction Lip Seal VITON - Viton is suitable for high temperature environments and can withstand up to +140 o C. It is essential that the right grade of lubrication is used for this application. Please consult Meridian for the correct lubrication necessary. It has average resistance for wear and tear. The elastomer shelf life is up to 10 years from assembly. Standard Paint Finish: Meridian follows a high quality corrosion protection system on its actuator. The actuator is painted using a twopart epoxy system. The actuator has an epoxy based primer of 10 micron thickness and then epoxy paint is applied to 30-40 micron thickness. Meridian certifies this painting system for 200 hours salt spray test. End Stroke 0 o & 90 o Output Shaft: Male Double D - This option is designed to take torque as stated with minimal coupling space. It is the most compact and has self-aligning properties. Female F - This option is per ISO 5211. These dimensions provide interchangeability with most high torque actuators. Rotary Actuator Corrosion Protection Options Body Hard Anodized Aluminum: Standard Special Aluminum alloy (6351T6) used as a base metal Hard anodizing of aluminum results in better corrosion protection, surface hardness and superior wear resistance 50 micron thickness of controlled oxidized surface of the Aluminum alloy is comprised mainly of Aluminum Trioxide (Al2O3) crystals along with Magnesium and Tungsten oxides, which makes the surface chemically inert and extremely hard (in excess of 45Rc) Being an oxidized layer of the base metal Aluminum, the treated layer cannot be peeled off, making this an extremely stable surface treatment Surface withstands all enironments including saline, with the exception of strong acidic and alkaline atmospheres Electroless Nickel Treatment: EN Nickel is deposited on the aluminum surface (not electrolytically) by chemical reaction of nickel on the Aluminum body The treatment covers the crevices including threads and passage holes, leaving the surface completely non-porous. Superior corrosion resistance as compared to hard anodizing makes this treatment a suitable choice for corrosive environments. Ideal for external wash. Epoxy Coated Actuators: CL Two part epoxy system deposition on the prepared (hard anodized) Aluminum body by spray technique. Produces a 30-40 micron thick layer (only external surfaces). Epoxy coating helps in protecting the actuator from extremely corrosive environments. Choose this option specifically for acidic or alkaline environments. This option is also suitable for environments such as Ammonia, and Ammonia Liquor. Meridian guarantees a 200 hour salt spray test. Pinion Electroless Nickel Plated: Standard Standard surface treatment given to the steel pinion shaft (EN 8). Adequate for most applications including corrosive environments. Stainless Steel: 8/8M Optionally available for aggressive environments. Pinion can also be supplied in SS304/SS316. 17

3 Position Rotary Actuator Double / Single Acting 3 Position Mechanical Stopper Features: Actuators suitable for Coarse to Fine adjustment typically for batching operations or processes Repeatability 100%, since stopping is by mechanical stoppers. Makes it suitable for applications calling for precise fine to coarse adjustment like in a typical liquid filling system Actuator can be switched to one position from any position very easily with the Solenoid control 3rd position achieved by mechanically stopping the piston movement in the return stroke by Pneumatic Stopper Pistons Intermediate position preset at 20% opening. The opening can be adjusted as required by set screw Actuator as a standard works in reverse action as opposed to conventional configuration. i.e. piston inward stroke opens the valve and piston outward stroke closes the valve End stops (+/- 10 degree) are provided on the closing side of the actuator for setting valve closing precisely 180 Degree Rotary Actuator Double / Single Acting Features: Suitable typically for 3-way valves requiring ON-OFF operation Available in both Single Acting (Spring Return) or Double Acting versions Single acting 180 degree actuator can provide centre off for 3-way ball valve, or bottom entry by choosing the 3-position option Can be converted to 3-position 0-90-180 degree actuator for 3-way valves using Meridian Limit Switch and NAMUR Valve type 30138 End-stop adjustment provided for opening direction as a standard Actuator mounting is per ISO 5211 and accessories to NAMUR For dimensions, weights and air consumption data, refer to the tables provided 180 degree actuator has 50% of torque value of a 90 degree actuator 18
