The F-type coupe features a gently sloping, delicate roofline sufficiently distinguished from the roadster s notchback appearance and far more seductive, too. This sultry silhouette dates back to the C-X16 concept that Jaguar debuted two years ago in Frankfurt, and the brand says that the production version brings the show car s uncompromised design vision to market. And that s very nearly accurate, except for one minute detail that was compromised. The C-X16 featured a side-hinged rear window, a cue taken from the iconic E-type; the F-type coupe, however, features a traditional liftback rear opening. Chief designer Ian Callum told said that he wanted to keep the retroinspired design. Jaguar Huntington stated they expect the coupe to arrive in their showroom May 2014. The dealer said they may have a reception event for the coupe but have to get the approval from Corporate Jaguar before proceeding. We told the dealership the club would help them with our participation as we did in the past when the F-Type was first introduced. You can go to www.jaguarusa.com and find further information and photos about the F-Type Coup and Convertible. We ll keep the club posted with any new events the dealer may be having for the F-Type. Page 4 Innovative cabin full of luxurious touches & cutting edge technology F-type R Coupe and V-6 S Coupe From the drawing board Jaguar unveils the C-X17 Concept Crossover SUV Jaguar s first ever sports crossover concept vehicle, the C-X17 made it s debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The C-X17 is Jaguar s take on the SUV segment, stretching the design possibilities of the category by combing the character and driving experience of a sports car with the style and practicality of an SUV. Entering the sports crossover segment expands Jaguar s portfolio of body styles, expanding it s appeal to a wider global audience. Jaguar has stated that the crossover will come to the market in 2016. Jaguar, under Ford ownership, tried to produce a car that would be it s bread and butter money maker, thus the X-Type Sedan and Station wagon which did not sell very well. They had the right idea to produce a 4 wheel drive vehicle but the X-Type was based on the British Ford Mondeo chassis. The Mondeo is still produced in England, is a popular car in Europe and sells well. Jaguar is counting on the strong Crossover SUV market to make this their most popular car and hopefully customers would also consider the all wheel drive XF and XJ sedans as well. Jaguar is currently constructing a new engine facility in Wolverhampton, as part of a 900 million investment. This new factory will produce Jaguar Land Rover s fuel efficient engines that have a wide range of capabilities and output, not only for the SUV, but future Jaguar and Land Rover models now on the drawing boards. The opening of this facility will help the local economy not only jobs but also will build a base of local suppliers. In summery, lets look at some of the highlights: Next-generation lightweight technologies in the form of an all-new advanced aluminium monocoque architecture. It is lightweight, extremely stiff and incorporates innovative technologies that emphasize Jaguar's commitment to sustainability. This advanced lightweight architecture will form the basis for a new range of future Jaguars. This C-X17 will be the first aluminium monocoque product in the segment and is set to be the most advanced, efficient and refined sports sedan in its class. Power will be provided by a range of engines including the new family of high-output, fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines to be built at Jaguar Land Rover's new UK engine manufacturing facility. These will enable Jaguar to offer vehicles with class-leading performance, including top speeds of over 186mph, and emissions lower than 100g of CO2 per km. (If you plan on driving that fast I suggest you enroll in Skip Barber s Racing School in Lime Rock). The C-X17 also showcases advanced interior technologies including an Interactive Surface Console - a multi-screen infotainment network that links passengers with each other and the outside world through social media channels.
