LVP Roadshow in Salt Lake City elicits enthusiastic response from customers and prospects (Customers vow to re-visit existing applications and projects already in progress, to see how they can incorporate additional automation solutions) SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, September 18, 2008... ABB automation solutions users and prospects turned out by the hundreds for a close-up look at the deep breadth of services, products and technical information that they can incorporate into exiting and future applications. The two-day show was held at the Salt Palace Convention Center here on September 17 18. The response was positive and immediate from both customers and our channel partners, said Derrick Parker district manager on ABB s Power & Control Sales Team, and host of the event. There was a lot of interest in our PLC, in meeting with individual Local Business Units that had product lines on display. And one customer vowed to re-visit upcoming projects immediately, in order to have ABB become a single supplier for their Bill of Material. More than 30 product lines are on display at the show, and end users can see quickly what is available to them in technology and supporting programs. Our channel partners were saying that the event gave them an opportunity to make, literally, more than 20 sales calls in a single day, at a single site, Parker noted. Starts with Distributor Day Distributor Day focuses on briefing electrical distributors personnel on what is new with each product line and introducing these distributors to additional solutions they may not sell currently. ABB always has been committed and brought product and service solutions to end users through channel partners, said Parker. That vendor/distributor partnership delivers a lot of experience to end users. Distributor Day is set up to train the trainers, so that distributor personnel are prepped take end users around to the experts and automation solutions that can help them the most. Doing so gives these channel partners a way to optimize their selling efforts, and end users experience, on Customer Day. Customers Jam Workshops, Too Well over 200 customers and prospects crowded into the venue on Thursday for both the exhibits and workshops. Technical in nature, the workshops, offered every hour throughout the day, provide must-know expertise on a host of automation-related information, ranging from UL and NEC standards, to harmonic mitigation in industrial environments, to sizing motors correctly to drives, to a profile of motor types, and PLC installations, and efficient, energy saving, control-panel designs. Eli Gonzalez, the ABB product manager from Low Voltage Products & Systems, noted that the session on meeting codes when building electrical panels was the most crowded workshop he d taught in over 20 Roadshows. This Denver-Salt Lake City market continues to grow rapidly, according to Greg Snyder, the regional vice president for the Power & Control Sales Team. Mining continues to be a very strong industry and, in this area, and there also is a lot of demand for pumping and processing water, he said. Meeting harmonic specifications, which
ABB excels at, received a lot of attention at the show, he noted. From an end user point of view, what we get here is a whole basket of solutions, said one key conveyor manufacturer. Our team comes here, and we can see how we want to put our OEM solutions together, basis the automation equipment that is available to us. The show offers visitors a close-up look at a host of low-voltage products and services (drives, controls, and motors), automation, power/transformer, medium voltage, and instrumentation solutions -- and the chance to talk with the product experts on all the lines. The Process Automation division of ABB, along with the Instrumentation Local Business Unit, and the Robotics Division, were on the floor with their new displays, as well. See photo profile of event below. The Roadshow resumes its tour, stopping next in Atlanta, Georgia. The schedule of venues and dates will be available at www.abb-events.com.
