August 2018 Union Pacific Road Number 1760 This 70 heavyweight horse car is grey with white and black lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built for Union Pacific in 1924, it was repainted into the postwar two-tone grey scheme in 1946. It was used to transport valuable race horses between race tracks and training facilities through the 1950s. Northern Refrigerator Car Company Road Number NRCC 6399/4000 These 40 double-sheathed wood reefers with vertical brake wheel are brown with white sides and run on Bettendorf trucks. The Northern Refrigerator Car Company was founded by the Cudahy brothers in Milwaukee, WI. In 1928 the company was purchased by Merchants Despatch Transportation Company, but retained the NRCC reporting mark on all 3,700 reefers. Refrigerator cars like these were used to transport bananas from the deep south to more northern states. The Arizona & California Railroad is a short line railroad that began operations in May 1991, and is currently owned by Genesee & Wyoming. These 100000-100024 series A&C well cars accepted containers up to 48 in length in the bottom well position. The Husky-Stack well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA. Conrail Road Number CR 404138 This 33 twin bay hopper with offset sides is maroon with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Formerly a Reading hopper, it was a Conrail class HR5A and was used for coal and iron ore service. It was built in the early 1950s and continued in use by Conrail through the early 1980s before being retired from service. Heinz Company was founded in 1869 by Henry John Heinz, first manufacturing horseradish. By the early 1900s, Heinz was manufacturing over 60 food products and relied heavily on their fleet of over 700 colorful billboard boxcars to distribute their products across the country. Union Pacific Road Number UP 69657 This 39 single dome tank car is black with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1924 by American Car & Foundry, these 12,500 gallon capacity tank cars were reconditioned in Omaha and renumbered to the 69500 69740 series in 1955. They were used to carry everything from molasses to fuel oil. Pennsylvania Road Number 990 This 78 heavyweight paired-window coach car is painted Tuscan Red with PRR buff herald and lettering and black roof. It was built in the 1930s by Pullman Standard and ran through the 1960s on six-wheel passenger trucks. It was one of the typical coach styles that served many of the passenger car fleets.
