Tier 1/Stage I Mechanical engines 2-valve cylinder head Cross-flow head design provides excellent breathing from a lower-cost 2-valve cylinder head. Mechanical rotary fuel pump The timing and fuel injection pressures are optimized to maximize performance and fuel economy at a given rated speed (4.5L). 8

Naturally aspirated Simple technology and low installation costs. Turbocharged In turbocharged engines, the air is precompressed. Due to the higher pressure, more air is supplied into the combustion chamber allowing a corresponding increase in fuel injection, which results in greater engine output (4.5L). Air-to-air aftercooled This is the most efficient method of cooling intake air to help reduce engine emissions while maintaining low-speed torque, transient response time, and peak torque. It enables an engine to meet emissions regulations with better fuel economy and the lowest installed costs (4.5L). Engine performance High level of peak torque Proven durability & reliability Additional features Self-adjusting poly-vee fan drive (4.5L & 6.8L) Forged-steel connecting rods Replaceable wet-type cylinder liners (4.5L) Either-side service Optional balancer shafts (4.5L) 9

Tier 1/Stage I 2.9L and 4.5L engines Durable components and advanced technology give our 2.9L engines highly reliable in the 3-cylinder class. Tier 2/Stage II Electronic engines 2-valve cylinder head Cross-flow head design provides excellent breathing from a lower-cost 2-valve cylinder head (4.5L, and 6.8L). 4-valve cylinder head The 4-valve cylinder head provides excellent airflow resulting in greater low-speed torque and better transient response time (4.5L, 6.8L and 9.0L). Rotary electronic fuel pump (4.5L) Electronically controlled rotary injection pump distributes precise amount of fuel to each cylinder. Electronic controls monitor engine speed and load to determine fuel timing. 16

High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) and Engine Control Unit (ECU) The HPCR fuel system provides variable common rail pressure, multiple injections, and higher injection pressures, up to 1600 bar (23,000 psi). It also controls fuel injection timing and provides precise control for the start, duration, and end of injection (4.5L, 6.8L, and 9.0L). Electronic control unit (13.5L) Transient response Lower rated speeds to reduce noise and improve fuel economy Cold-starting capabilities Fixed geometry turbocharger Fixed geometry turbochargers are precisely matched to the level and application. Turbocharged In turbocharged engines, the air is pre-compressed. Due to the higher pressure, more air is supplied into the combustion chamber, allowing a corresponding increase in fuel injection, which results in greater engine output. Air-to-air intercooling This is the most efficient method of cooling intake air to help reduce engine emissions while maintaining low-speed torque, transient response time, and peak torque. It enables an engine to meet emissions regulations with better fuel economy and the lowest installed costs. 17

Tier 2/Stage II 4.5L engines Mechanical pump available. Available engine-balancer shafts for smoother engine operation (4.5L). Forged steel connecting rods with unique 45-degree design permit use of larger crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods for increased durability. Standard gear auxiliary drive produces up to 37 kw (50 hp) forgear-driven accessories. Dynamically balanced crankshaft constructed of heattreated ductile iron for maximum strength. Self-adjusting 8-groove poly-vee fan drive provides multiple fan ratios and more than twice the drive capability of comparable vee-belts. Fan heights can be matched to specific applications. 500-hour oil change interval saves you money on oil, filters, and labor. The 4-valve versions of our 4.5L engines have been designed with Tier 3/Stage III A compatibility in mind. These models deliver increased (up to 25 percent) in a smaller package, so you can get the you need without moving up to a larger engine a significant cost savings. The increased torque value of these engines lets your machine through the tough spots, while the increased lowspeed torque improves load-starting capabilities in mobile applications. torque Bore Stroke Lenght Width Height Weight Nm Ib-ft RPM mm mm mm mm mm kg 283 209 1200 106 127 861 612 856 387 296 218 1400 106 127 861 612 856 387 333 246 1000 106 127 860 612 994 396 389 287 1400 106 127 860 612 994 396 369 272 1400 106 127 860 612 994 396 392 289 1400 106 127 867 637 982 451 394 291 1400 106 127 867 637 982 451 498 367 1400 106 127 867 637 979 451 498 367 1400 106 127 867 637 979 451 463 341 1400 106 127 867 637 979 451 540 398 1400 106 127 867 637 979 451 498 367 1400 106 127 867 637 979 451 645 476 1400 106 127 862 605 1025 451 700 516 1400 106 127 862 605 1025 451 645 476 1400 106 127 862 605 1025 451 19

Tier 2/Stage II 9.0L engines Tier 2/Stage II PowerTech 9.0l engines offer exceptional levels of and fuel economy, and feature the high-pressure common rail (HPCR) fuel system that provides higher injection pressures, variable timing control, and more precise control of fuel injection. In the HPCR system, fuel is pumped into a common rail at a constant pressure, and is available when each electronic injector opens. The injectors in this system are vertical and centered over the pistons for improved fuel combustion. Fuel delivery in the HPCR system is controlled by an electronic control unit that maximizes fuel efficiency by regulating fuel delivery for various loads and speeds. Directed top-liner cooling reduces liner temperatures as much as 130 degrees, improves cylinder durability and head gasket life, and reduces oil consumption and emissions. Electronic controls monitor critical engine functions and can reduce or shut the engine down to prevent potential damage. These controls eliminate the need for costly engine warning components. SAE J1939 standard communication link lets the engine interface with other vehicle systems: transmission, hydraulics, accessory drives, etc., reducing the installed cost. Performance connector enables operator to program multiple curves, and droop or isochronous governor regulations. torque Bore Stroke Lenght Width Height Weight Nm Ib-ft RPM mm mm mm mm mm kg 1200 885 1600 118.4 136 1211 633 1260 1097 1228 906 1600 118.4 136 1211 633 1097 901 1349 995 1600 118.4 136 1211 633 1160 901 1473.6 1087 1600 118.4 136 1211 633 1160 901 1474 1087 1600 118.4 136 1211 633 1160 901 23

Tier 2/Stage II 13.5L engines Our 13.5L engines employ electronic unit injectors for higher injection pressures, and a turbocharger for better air flow. Both features improve engine performance and help meet emissions regulations. The electronic control unit in the 13.5L engines includes a 10 percent bulge below rated speed, fuel temperature compensation, onboard diagnostics, and expanded engine protection. Heat rejection and fuel consumption ratings on the Tier 2/Stage II 13.5L engines are equal to or better than their Tier 1/Stage I counterparts. Combination-type oil filter provides full flow and bypass oil filtration, trapping both large and small contaminants in a single unit. Standard gear auxiliary drive produces up to 57 kw (80 hp) for gear-driven accessories. Articulated 2-piece piston uses high-strength steel crown to manage the higher horse. Factory-installed air and AC compressors decrease installation costs. Clean, modern design eliminates leak paths by reducing the number of fittings, lines, gaskets, hoses, clamps, and O-rings. Multiple fan drive ratios and heights offer versatility for a variety of applications. torque Bore Stroke Lenght Width Height Weight Nm Ib-ft RPM mm mm mm mm mm kg 1870-1575 118.4 136 1362 857 1210 1334 2007 1480 1575 118.4 136 1362 857 1210 1334 2290-1575 118.4 136 1362 857 1210 1334 2550 1881 1575 118.4 136 1362 857 1210 1334 2550-1575 118.4 136 1362 857 1210 1334 25
