ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSENGER CARRIER CHAMPIONSHIPS 1. Every contestant entering the championships shall have an accident-free record for 12 months prior to entry and participation. The only accidents which need not be counted against the contestant s criteria are those in which: The contestant s vehicle was legally and properly parked. The contestant s vehicle was stopped in traffic in compliance with a traffic sign or signal or at the direction of a police officer. Waived by the Committee. 2. Every contestant entering the challenge shall meet the medical qualification of the U.S. Department of Transportation as set forth in 49 CFR 391.41 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. You must submit evidence that you meet the DOT minimum qualifications. 3. Every contestant entering the challenge must hold a valid CDL, with proper endorsements. 4. Every contestant entering the championships must have been continuously employed by the entering company for at least 12 months prior to the entry. Furthermore, contestants shall have driven and performed the regular duties of a professional driver for the entering motor carrier for at least 11 of the 12 months prior to entry. There are only two exceptions to this 11 of the 12 month rule when the contestant s employer goes out of business and when the contestant has been on active military duty for a full term of active duty. 5. To compete, performing the regular duties of a professional driver shall have constituted a minimum of 1200 hours annually and no less than 60% of the contestant s hours worked for the entering motor carrier. The Passenger Carrier Challenge is for professional drivers not for driver trainers, mechanics, vehicle washers, managers, or employees who primarily move vehicles without passengers on board, etc.. 6. Contestants may only participate if occupationally domiciled and holds a CDL in the state of Hawaii. 7. Contestants may enter in only one class of competition.
