The module outputs a medium voltage line with adjustable capacitance, allowing for study of varied length lines, and the neutral conductor state can be modified from insulated to compensated, for studying the effect of compensation inductance. Applied EPS101 Power Systems in Oil Drilling Rigs and Propulsion Systems A comprehensive system for in-depth study of typical power generation, protection and management systems used in oil drilling rigs, ships, railways and other remote applications. The equipment consists of a three-phase squirrel cage asynchronous motor coupled to a brushless three-phase generator, connected to a bench-mounted control panel. The control panel includes the electronic drives, AVRs, Automatic Reactive Power Regulators, Measurement centres and protection relays, synchronising lamps, synchroscope and paralleling switches required for the control and study of generators and synchronising power sources. Oil drilling rigs require considerable power for the large motors, mud pumps and winches. This is simulated by a power utilisation system, with five loading systems, including: DC Motor with Inertia Load DC Motor with Eddy Current Three-Phase Asynchronous Motor with Inertia Load Three-Phase Asynchronous Motor with Eddy Current Brake Three-phase transformer The utilisation control panel includes the components, connections and measuring instruments required for the control of the DC Motors and loads. Oil drilling rigs, ships and trains use three-phase step-down transformers, to convert generated power from 600 V to 230/400 V for standard voltage equipment. Simulators EPS70 Management of Demand in Power Grids Simulator A bench-top simulator for studying the management of a typical electrical power generation, transmission and utilisation system, with varied demand and multiple power plants. The simulated system includes a thermoelectric or thermonuclear power plant, a hydroelectric power plant, a high voltage transmission network and industrial, commercial and residential loads. EPS71 Generation and Synchronisation Simulator A bench-top simulator for studying generation, synchronisation, paralleling and power management using a typical electrical power generator and grid supply. The simulated system comprises a grid supply and a generator for synchronising and paralleling to the grid supply. Power System Simulator Power System Simulator EPS1000 Power System Simulator An advanced Power Systems Simulator for studying a complete power generation, transformations, transmission, distribution, utilisation and protection system. The system consists of a single unit with experimental controls, instrumentation and connection mounted on the front panel with a schematic diagram showing the different parts of the system and connections. The front panel is divided into four sections; generation, transmission, distribution and Loads. Protection relays and protection devices are built-in to each section and can be connected and disconnected at any time using safety connection cables. The unit is supplied with two synchronous generator sets, mounted on vibration absorbent base units. The generators can be used individually, or synchronised and paralleled with each other and the grid supply. Connections are made using safety cables and connecting jumpers, for safe operation in the laboratory environment. The system is supplied with software which allows supervision of the complete Power System Simulator. Multi-function Digital measurement centres are connected to all of the main parts of the system. The HFT Education Power System Simulator is ideal for teaching design engineers, power plant technicians, maintenance engineers, power plant managers and engineers working on ships, oil platforms and transportation applications.
