Step 1: ASSEMBLE THE MAIN MANIFOLD AND MANIFOLD EXTENSION KIT First and very important step is to properly connect the main manifold and the manifold extension kit together by using the two Core Connectors provided in the kit. Do not assemble anything else before this step is completed. Apply plumber putty or Teflon tape on both sides of the Core Connector (16). Take the Manifold Core with Flow Meter (5B) and thread the core connector into it. Next, thread the extension Manifold Core with Flow Meter (5B) on the other side of the Core Connector (16). Make sure the Core Connector (16) is threaded all the way and both manifold cores are aligning well so the flow meters are aligned vertically side by side. If Manifold Cores do not align perfectly, unthread one Manifold Core and thread it on the other side. In the same manner move the Core Connector being threaded to the other side of the Manifold Core until required alignment is achieved. Take the Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) and thread the core connector into it. Next, thread the extension Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) on the other side of the Core Connector (16). Make sure the Core Connector (16) is threaded all the way and both manifold cores are aligning well so the flow meters are aligned vertically side by side. If Manifold Cores do not align perfectly, unthread one Manifold Core and thread it on the other side. In the same manner, if required, move the Core Connector being threaded to the other side of the Manifold Core in order to find the configuration allowing aligning them perfectly. Step 2: ASSEMBLE THE MANIFOLDS Screw the Air Vent and Bleeding Valve (3B) into the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B) tightly; making sure the Air Vent (3B) is pointing to the opposite direction of the Flow Meters (8). If the Air Vent and Bleeding Valve (3B) does not align vertically with the Manifold Core and Flow Meters (5B) after it is tightened, try installing it on the opposite side of the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B) to get the correct alignment. Repeat the same process as above to install the Air Vent and Bleeding Valve (3A) in the Manifold Core and Manifold Extension Core assembly with Port Valves (5A). Thread both PEX Male Threaded Adaptors (10) to both Metric Converters (11). Thread one assembly to the Return Ball Valve (Blue) (1) and the other to the Supply Ball Valve (Red) (9). We recommend using plumbers putty or Teflon tape on both PEX Male Threaded Adaptors (10) and Metric Converters (11) to avoid any leaking. Page 2 of 5
Thread the Supply Ball Valve (Red) (9) into the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B). Thread the Supply Ball Valve (9) into the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B) tightly, without over tightening the gasket; making sure the handle (9) is pointing to the Flow Meters (8) on the Manifold Core (5B). Thread the Return Ball Valve (Blue) (1) into the Manifold Core (5A) with Port Valves (2). Thread the Return Ball Valve (1) into the Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) tightly, without over tightening the gasket; making sure the handle (1) is pointing to the Port Valves (2) on the Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A). In order to align the temperature gauge outward (7A and 7B) loosen the nut on the thermometer (7A and 7B), then tighten. Step 3: ASSEMBLING THE FIXTURES DO NOT ASSEMBLE ON THE WALL AT THIS POINT. WE SUGGEST YOU ASSEMBLE IT ON THE FLOOR BEFORE MOUNTING TO THE WALL TO AVOID DAMAGE. Place the two Wall Mount Brackets (4) parallel, with the less elevated side of the Wall Mount Bracket (4) on the upper position (5B Manifold Core with Flow Meters to be attached at the upper position) so the bottom of the bracket is further off the floor at this point (5A Manifold Core with Port Valves to be attached to this bottom part of bracket). Place the manifolds on the small rubber guides located on the Wall Mount Brackets (4). Make sure the Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) is in the bottom position of the Wall Mount Bracket (4) and the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B) is in the upper position. Install one bracket between the first two Core Ports (6) and the other bracket between the last two Core Ports (6). NOTE: Both main manifold and extension manifold must be supported by their own brackets to ensure the performance of the product and to avoid stress on the core Connector. Step 4: SECURING MANIFOLDS TO THE WALL MOUNTING BRACKETS (4) Secure the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B) and Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) to Wall Mounting Brackets (4) using the 8 Manifold Mounting Bracket Screws (15) provided in the kit. Drive the screw until the screw head is secured flat on the bracket. Step 5: MOUNTING ON WALL Mount the GTFLOW Manifold on the wall. Make sure the proper mounting screws and/or anchors are used for that type of wall (not included). IMPORTANT: THE MOUNTING METHOD YOU USE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SUPPORT A MINIMUM OF 30LBS (14KGS). Page 3 of 5
Step 6: PURGING THE SYSTEM Make sure the Return Ball Valve (Blue) (1) and the Supply Ball Valve (Red) (9) are in closed position. THE VALVE IS CLOSED WHEN IT IS PERPENDICULAR TO THE VALVE CORE. Connect water supply and return to the manifold on the PEX Male Threaded Adaptors (10) using a PEX pipe and a PEX crimp ring (not included). Remove all Flow Meter Base Caps (Black) (14) from all Flow Meters (8) by gripping the tabs and snapping it upward over the Flow Meters (8). The Flow Meter Base Cap (Black) (14) is a black protective sleeve that sits on the base of the Flow Meter. Gently unscrew all Flow Meters (8); counter clock wise so 3 threads of the Flow Meter (8) are visible (about 3 turns). If pliers are needed, use carefully in order to avoid breaking the part. You should unscrew only the ones where you are installing a piping loop. Leave the other Flow Meters (8) in closed position. Flow Meters are in closed position when it shows no thread. Do not replace Flow Meter Base Caps (Black) (14) at this stage. Attach a drain hose to the Air Vent and Bleeding Valve (3A) on the Manifold Core with Port Valves (5A) and open the Bleeding Valve completely. Completely close all but one Port Valves (2). Open water source connected to the Manifold Core with Flow Meters (5B). After purging the first loop, close the Port Valve (2) and open the following one. Continue one loop at the time until each loop has been completely purged. Once the last Port Valve is closed, close the purge valve and remove the drain hose from the Bleeding Valve of the Air Vent and Bleeding Valve (3A) unit. Open the Return Ball Valve (Blue) (1). Any remaining air pockets will be eliminated by the water heating source bleeding system within few circulating hours. Step 7: CALIBRATING FLOW METERS As pipe length may vary from loop to loop, it is important to balance the water flow in each loop to ensure proper flow in the whole system. Maintain water flow in the system. Open all Port Valves (2) for each loop to the maximum. Close all Flow Meters (8) completely by turning them clockwise by hand, until all Flow Meters (8) indicate 0 GPM. Do not use pliers or any other tool to turn them. Page 4 of 5
To adjust the desired maximum flow rate per loop, gently turn one Flow Meter (8) at the time counter clock wise until required flow (GPM) is achieved. After calibrating all flow meters check that the desired flow is equal in each loop and this is indicated by all Flow Meters (8). Once adjustment is done, replace each Flow Meter Base Cap (Black) (14) on the base of each Flow Meter (8). The cap is replaced correctly when it is snapped on and you cannot turn it. Note that Flow Meters (8) can be completely shut down if a loop is not used. Note: if the loop is not used and there is no pipe connected to it, you must use port cap (not included) to prevent leakage. Step 8: OPERATING THE SYSTEM Use the Port Valves (2) to increase or reduce the water flow in each loop. When a Port Valve (2) is completely closed, the water doesn t circulate in the pipe loop and it does not heat the area. The more the Port Valve (2) is opened, the more heat will be transferred to the area. If the heating system is not required for a long period of time, we recommend to leave the Return Ball Valve (Blue) (1) and Supply Ball Valve (Red) (9) opened and keep the Port Valves (2) completely closed, or accordingly to the plumbing codes, good practices, or the water heating source and pump instructions. The heating source and pump should be completely closed as per their manufacturers instructions. If you need more help or assistance, please contact us at 1.877.GTGLOBE (877.484.5623) Page 5 of 5
