Instructions Ballot for API 1509, Annex G - Stripped Viscosity Footnote Universal Oils have an API C Category Classification (for Diesel Engine Oils) with an API S Category Classification (for Gasoline Engine Oil). For this ballot it is necessary to revise the existing S Category Specifications to limit the Phosphorus Level for Universal Oils with a SAE 15W-40 viscosity. For Universal Oils where a C Category precedes an S Category the Phosphorus level will be limited to the level specified for the specific S Category. Tables G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, and G-5 have the revised Footnotes to limit the Phosphorus levels. The changes to Annex G Tables are identified with Bold Type and Yellow Highlight. Note changes in the Footnote identifier are also highlighted. Lubricants Group Members should review the Ballot and cast a vote using the API eballot System. Ballots and Comments will be counted and resolved before the ballot results are final. Non Lubricants Group Members may review the Ballot and make comments using the eballot system. All comments will be reviewed and resolved before completing the process. The Ballot Closes on Friday September 6. All Ballots and comments must be received by this date. The Effective Date of the Change to API 1509 will be September 6, 2014. Page 1 of 11
