Balance funds required: Rs. 27.57 Cr Physical progress : 95% Works completed. Certain residual works like pitching, trolley refuge, etc. to be done before the section can be offered for CRS inspection. Agitation by Land owners of Kenchanahalli, Vottigenahalli, Kurubarahalli and Ganganarasi villages demanding enhanced compensation has stalled residual works. Railway is prepared to pay enhanced compensation through court. GOK has proposed to resolve the issue through Lokadalat. Railway Board to take a decision in this regard.

Hubli Ankola (167 km) New Line

Salient Features of Hubli Ankola (167 km) Year of sanction : 1996 97 Original sanctioned Cost: Rs. 103.73 Cr for a length of 47.75 km between Hubli and Kiruvatti. Anticipated Cost: Rs. 2315 Cr Cumulative Exp. upto 31.01.12:Rs 69.18. Cr Budget Outlay for 2011-12: Rs.12.00 Cr Physical progress: 55 % upto Kiruvatti. Balance works was stopped by CEC during 2006-07. Earth work and bridge works upto 34.8kmfromHubliendtoKiruvatti completed. Further work stopped due to non-acquisition of forest land. Central Empowered Committee has advised the Ministry of Railways to stop all the works. Extent of forest land 720 Ha Elephant corridor involved Tunnels : 23 Km. At present the work is completely held up.

Bangalore-Sathyamangalam New Line (261 km) 261

Bangalore-Sathyamangalam (261 km) Year of sanction : 1996-97 Anticipated Cost: Rs.2080.00 cr. Cumulative Exp up to 31.01.12: Rs.0.29 cr. Budget outlay for 2011-12: Rs. 0.30 Cr Final Location Survey completed between Bangalore to Chamarajanagar. Final Location Survey could not be taken up beyond Chamarajanagar as permission for conducting the survey in Satyamangala Forest Reserve has been denied by CEC.

Munirabad (Ginigera)- Raichur New Line (165 km out of 246 km) upto Mehaboobnagar in Andhra Pradesh

Salient Features Munirabad (Ginigera)- Raichur (165 km) of 246 km upto Mehaboobnagar Year of sanction : 1997-98 Work started from Mahabubnagar in Andhrapradesh and work up to Raichur (76 Km) is likely to be completed shortly. Original P.B Cost : Rs. 336.17 Cr Sanctioned Estimate Cost: Rs.179.63 Cr (of Rs.497.50 Cr)(for land, earthwork & bridges) (2002) Part of Project between Ginigera Raichur transferred to SWR during 2008-09. Tender for Final Location Survey is awarded. Alignment suggested by DC passes through forest land for minor stretch and it takes off from Kotegannur ( 7 km from Shimoga towards Talaguppa end). Y junction to be made at Kotegannur for direct reception of trains from Birur side to shimoga. It involves additional expenditure and extra distance of7km.inviewoftheaboveit is suggested to go ahead with the alignment already finalised by railways and approved by Rly Bd. FLSheldupduetotheabove.

Hospet-Harlapur (69.22 km) Harlapur-Dharwad (75.12 km) Kambarganvi-Tinaighat (58.38 km) Tenders invited and under finalisation. Phase II (Tinaighat-Vasco-dagama) Length-108 km; App.cost Rs.1200 cr. Final location survey from Tinaighat-Castle Rock and Kulem to Vasco is under progress. Year of sanction: 2010-11 Estimated Cost: Rs. 2127.00 Cr Budget Outlay: Rs. 50.00 Cr. Physical progress : 0% Final location survey between Castel Rock-Kulem is planned to be doubled with ruling gradient of 1 in 60 which entails tunnels of about 23 km. in length. The doubling lies in two states, viz. Karnataka and Goa.
