INDRA MARSHAL POWER TILLER PT-99/741 15.14 Salient Observations: 15.14.1 Engine Performance: i) The backup torque of engine is 7.85 %, under natural ambient condition. ii) The maximum power was observed as 10.4 & 10.3 kw under natural & high ambient conditions respectively. iii) The specific fuel consumption corresponding to maximum & rated power was recorded as 313 g/kwh against the declared value of 233 g/kwh. 15.14.2 Rotary shaft performance: i) The maximum rotary shaft power was measured as 9.3 kw. ii) The specific fuel consumption corresponding to rated power was recorded as 354 g/kwh against the declared value of 298 g/kwh. iii) The maximum rotary shaft torque was observed as 445.1 Nm against the declared value of 391 Nm. 15.14.3 Mechanical Vibration: The amplitude of mechanical vibration on most of controls / measuring points of the power tiller exceeded the limit of 100 micron. The mechanical vibration is directly concerned with Operator s Health, Safety and Comfort; apart from the useful life of the machine s components. In view of the above, this deserves to be given top priority for corrective action. 15.14.4 Noise measurement: Max. Noise at operator s ear level was observed as 96 db(a). The noise observed at operator's ear level is more than the limit specified by IS:12239 (Part3) 1988. The Sound Pressure Level is directly influencing the Operator s Health, Safety and Comfort; and therefore warrants the corrective action. 15.14.5 Rotavator blades: i) The dimensions of the straight and hatchet blades (except at notation 'C') conforms to IS: 6690-1981 (Reaffirmed 2012), therefore dimension at notation 'C' should be corrected as per the IS requirement. ii) Silicon content of Straight blade and Carbon content of hatchet blade are not conforming the limits as specified in relevant test code IS: 6690-1981 (reaffirmed 2012) and therefore it should be looked into for corrective action. Page 46 of 54
INDRA MARSHAL POWER TILLER PT-99/741 iii) The hardness at shank and edge portions of straight and hatchet blades does not meet, the requirement of IS: 6690-1981 (reaffirmed 2012). This should be looked into for corrective action. 15.14.6 Haulage test Matching Trailer was not supplied by the applicant therefore the trailer available with this Institute had to be used for Haulage test. It is therefore recommended to either provide the trailer as per IS:10806-2003, or provide the address of trailer manufacturer which can provide the trailer as per IS:10806-2003. 15.14.6.1 The power tiller was recommended for haulage test with a trailer of gross mass of 1.5 tonne. 15.14.6.2 Average distance traveled per litre was observed 11.51 km. 15.14.6.3 Specific fuel consumption was observed 57.92 cc/km/ton 15.14.7.1 Provision of spark arresting device may be considered for incorporation in the exhaust system. 15.14.7.2 Two labeling plates are provided on power tiller. One plate containing make, model and serial number of machine is riveted at handle tool bar whereas another plate with engine detail is bolted on timing cover. Where as one metallic labeling plate as per IS: 10273-1987 should be welded/riveted visibly at suitable place on the machine. 15.14.7.3 It is recommended that the Power Tiller should bear the identification number viz. engine No., Chassis No. including month and year of manufacture embossed or etched or punched on it. Not only this, the applicant is advised to indicate/intimate the testing agency regarding the place where the numbers is embossed or etched or punched including the code for the year and month of production in respect of that particular model. 15.14.7.4 It is recommended that the tyre should have the Marking as per clause 8 of IS:13154-1991 (Reaffirmed 2001). 15.14.7.5 It is recommended that only those bulbs should provided on head lamp of Power Tiller which are duly tested as per AIS 034.
