Part No. 5167 Digital Torque Wrench 6-30Nm 1/4"D www.lasertools.co.uk

Reference Form Display Range: Accuracy Range: Drive: Units Scales & Features: 1-30Nm 6-30Nm 1/4"D Repair kits available: Part No. 0967 Purchased from (name of supplier): Date of purchase (attach receipt for reference): Nm ft/lb in/lb Kg/cm. Bi-directional, automatic shut-off 150 secs, memory-preset for up to 10 readings, 240mm long, 2 X AAA batteries. Introduction We would like to thank you for purchasing this Laser Tools torque wrench and hope it gives you many years of service. Our warranty policy for this precision tool is 12 months from date of purchase. Your purchase receipt is the start of use date and this receipt should be kept somewhere secure in case the goods are found to be faulty and need to be returned or you require a calibration test within twelve months. The date on the calibration certificate supplied with your torque wrench and also stamped on the handle is the date the wrench was tested after being assembled by the manufacturer and is not the start of use date. We recommend you complete the above form with the purchase details and attach your receipt to the reverse. We understand that the use of torque wrenches is vital in all garage and workshop environments but we have enclosed our Tech Torque booklet on torque wrenches and hope you find the information useful. Maintenance of this precision tool is essential to ensure its continued service so we would like to remind you how to store and preserve its functionality.

Features A B C D E F G H Quick release mechanism + and - controls LEDs (M) Memory Pre-Set button On/Off button (also used for LED backlight illumination) Digital display Units indicator Peak/Trace button N-M ft lb in lb Kgcm M P/T

Instructions How to select the unit measurement scale: 1. Press Memory Pre-Set and Peak/Trace buttons together (D and H). 2. Release to select different torque measurement scales (Nm ft/lb in/lb Kg/cm). 3. The unit value will automatically change when the measurement scale is selected. How to select torque settings and use the torque wrench: 1. Select and hold the + control (B) until the required torque figure is reached. 2. The target will display for 10 seconds then revert to 0.00. 3. To reduce the setting press and hold the - control. 4. Again this will display for 10 seconds then revert to 0.00. 5. Steadily apply torque to the fastener. 6. The three white LEDs (C) will flash and an intermittent warning buzzer will sound when you are 20% away from the target torque. 7. When full torque is reached the three LEDs will stop flashing (stay on) and a constant tone will be heard. 8. The required torque figure has been reached so do not apply further torque. 9. Tighten in a slow and controlled manner and stop applying pressure immediately the torque wrench indicates the required setting has been reached. Tightening too quickly will result in an inaccurate final torque figure. How to set peak and trace modes: 1. Press and release the Peak/Trace button (with the wrench turned On). 2. The display will show PtoP (Peak)* or trace (Trace)*. 3. The display will revert to 0.00 after 2 seconds. 4. * Peak display stays at highest torque setting reached; Trace display follows torque setting being applied, then returns to 0. Memory Pre-Set Measurements: The Memory Pre-Set function lets the operator store a torque figure setting. There are 10 available store positions. 1. Turn the wrench On with On/Off button (E). 2. Press the M button and release. 3. The display will show the memory number P01 then the torque setting for that memory pre-set position.. 4. Press M again for the next memory pre-set position. 5. The torque setting for any of the pre-set positions can be changed at any time by using the + or - controls (B) to adjust the setting. Then press the M button again to set. This will take you to the next memory pre-set position, but when you cycle back to the original position the new setting will be displayed.

Turning off: 1. If you do not use the wrench for 150 seconds the tool will turn off automatically. 2. To manually turn off the wrench press the On/Off button (E) button and hold for approximately 3 seconds. 3. The next time the torque wrench is switch on, the last used manually set torque figure (not a pre-set) will be remembered. LED Backlight illumination: 1. Press and release the On/Off button (E) to switch the LED backlight on or off. Changing the Batteries The torque wrench is powered by two (2) AAA batteries (2 x AAA supplied). 1. The battery cover is on the reverse of the instrument body. Open battery cover by undoing the two screws (PH1 screw). 2. Install 2 x AAA batteries with negative (-) end against spring. 3. Screw the cover firmly into place. 4. If the battery is in poor condition the ( ) icon will appear. 5. Dispose of batteries according to local authority guidelines. 6. Always remove batteries if the tool is stored and not in constant use.

Maintenance Always ensure your torque wrench is maintained in a dry, clean environment. Store the torque wrench in the case in which it was provided. Use a soft cloth to clean the tool and the display. Reasons for Torque Wrench Malfunction Dropping or shaking the torque wrench. Overloading the recommended torque. Not using the torque wrench for a long period of time. Using the torque wrench in serious hot or cold conditions (0 <50 C), humidity or direct sunlight. Using it to break a bolt (undoing). Using it as a breaker bar. Precautions: Never use an extension bar. Never use a length of pipe to extend the handle of your torque wrench. Never submerge the wrench in water. Never clean the wrench with organic solvents. Do not dismantle the wrench. Tighten in a slow and controlled manner and stop applying pressure immediately the torque wrench indicates the required setting has been reached. Tightening too quickly will result in an inaccurate final torque figure.

NOTES:

Warranty If your torque wrench should fail or you suspect the calibration is out during the 12 months warranty period please contact our Service Deptartment to arrange for the return. If the torque wrench is found to be faulty an alternative will be offered or a discounted rate may be offered if there is any sign of misuse.
