Ventilation Slots 4. Forward / Reverse / Neutral Lock Switch 5. Variable Speed Trigger Switch 6. Padded Hand Grip 7. Battery Release Button 8. Battery Pack ROTATION DIRECTION Your tool is equipped with a 3-position Forward/Reverse/Neutral Switch through the housing above the trigger (item 4 above). When knob is pushed toward the right, rotation is forward (clockwise). When pushed in from the right to the left side, rotation is reversed (anticlockwise), and when in centre position, it is locked in neutral and the trigger is blocked. NEVER push the Forward/Reverse/Neutral Switch until the drive stops turning. 4
BATTERY PACK 1. The Battery must be charged before using the wrench for the first time. Batteries will reach full performance after about five charge/discharge cycles. 2. Always place the 3-position Forward/Reverse/Neutral Switch in the centre (NEUTRAL) position when removing or inserting battery to avoid unintentional starting. 3. To remove the battery from the tool, press the Battery Release Buttons and remove battery. 4. Place battery on the charger ensuring it bottoms out. DO NOT force it...it will only fit one way, as illustrated. 5. To charge, plug the charger into a 230V domestic supply. 6. When the battery is charging, a red light will illuminate. When battery is fully charging, the red light extinguishes and a green light illuminates. 7. IMPORTANT: Ensure that charging takes place in a safe, secure location 8. Normal charging time is approximately 1 hour. 9. To insert the battery into the tool, simply slide the pack in until it locks firmly in place 10. When charging more than one pack in succession, allow 15 minutes between charges. 11. The battery discharges slowly over time, even when not in use, and may require recharging before you use the tool. 12. After many charge/discharge cycles, your batteries will lose their ability to hold a charge. They should then be replaced. Dispose of batteries at an appropriate disposal facility. They contain cadmium, so do not throw batteries away with common household waste. MAINTENANCE Keep the tool clean using a soft damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use solvents on the plastic parts. Lubrication is not necessary. After long use, have an authorised dealer, or Clarke International maintain and lubricate the tool. 5
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS REMEMBER: Do not attempt to use your Impact Wrench until the battery is fully charged and you have read all the instructions. REMEMBER: This cordless wrench is always in an operating condition and does not need to be connected to a power supply. CAUTION: ALWAYS place the FORWARD/NEUTRAL/REVERSE switch to the central (NEUTRAL) position when changing sockets or batteries, to avoid accidental starting. Do Not expose either the wrench or charger to rain or water. Do not overcharge the battery as this could damage the battery cells. Do not force the wrench. If it is laboring, it is possible that the battery power is low. If so, stop working and recharge the battery pack. To prolong the life of the batteries, do not use for extended periods of time - no more than a 20 minutes. Using it to do heavy work when the battery is weak, could damage the battery irrevocably. A. LOOSENING A NUT 1. If you are changing a wheel, first jack up the vehicle according to the vehicles handbook, and remove any wheel trim, then proceed as follows: 2. Select the appropriate socket and place firmly on the square drive of the Wrench. 3. With the FORWARD/NEUTRAL/REVERSE switch in the FORWARD position, and holding the wrench firmly in BOTH HANDS, pull the trigger fully. The nut will be impacted repeatedly until it is loosened. NOTE: If the wheel spins, when attempting to loosen a nut, get an assistant to hold it, or block it in some way. B. TIGHTENING A NUT 1. Start the nut by hand ensuring it is not cross threaded, then with the appropriate socket installed on the wrench, place it on the nut. 2. With the FORWARD/NEUTRAL/REVERSE switch in the REVERSE position, and holding the wrench firmly in BOTH HANDS, pull the trigger gently. You can vary the spindle speed by modulating finger pressure on the trigger. 3. Run each nut up in turn until it is nipped up only - do not tighten - do not fully depress the trigger. When all nuts are nipped up, tighten progressively by pulling the trigger fully and allowing the action to operate for 3 to 4 impacts only to prevent overtightening. 4. ALWAYS finish tightening with a torque wrench or suitable spanner. 6
