OTRONIC Level Measuring Systems Precise Tank Control OTRONIC System for Camper, Caravan, Boat Being forced to leave the nice parking lot by the sea prematurely because of an empty fresh water tank or full feces tank only happens once. From the establishment on the market, OTRONIC tank display systems have proved to be successful due to precise measuring technology, high quality and high reliability to be able to plan the next supply or disposal station before. The OTRONIC tank displays consist of a display unit and of a suitable measuring sensor at the tank. Only 2 cables between tank and display are required. Thus, the complete measuring unit is also ideal for later integration into existing systems. Depending on the place of installation and case of application, different measuring sensors (tank sensors) are available for precise electronic measurement of the level without any parts being mechanically moved. The used capacitive measuring method for level measuring is robust and offers a variety of application cases. It is suitable for metal tanks and for plastic tanks, as well as for any kind of water (fresh water, sewage water, feces). It ensures precise measuring results and high operating safety. A special execution also allows the measurement of Diesel tanks. The measured value is sensed electronically and will be led as electric signal to the display unit by means of only 2 cables. The power supply to the electronic measuring instruments at the tank is effected from the display. In quiescent condition, the tank transmitters are dead. The standard delivery includes detailed installation and operating manuals allowing also retrofit of the units in the vehicle at any time. Being specially adapted, the measuring system does not allow measuring sensors/display units of other brands or an operation with the OTRONIC tank displays for intervention vehicles and fire fighting vehicles (page 26-27). OTRONIC Info Panel Combined Control of Tank and Battery From the establishment on the market, the OTRONIC info panel has proved to be successful, and now its functions had been extended. It is very much in demand, since it takes over the most important control and switching tasks in the camper. Moreover, it is designed particularly compact. The unit controls the fresh water tank, the sewage water tank, the feces tank, as well as the board battery and the starter battery. Besides, it is equipped with a main switch for the board battery and a pump main switch for the fresh water supply. Of course, both units are equipped with activation control. The board and starter battery can be supervised by means of the voltage display on the left side of the Info Panel Pro. The luminous spot display supplies a quite precise display of the battery voltage rates, since also the intermediate values are well legible due to the different brightness of the adjacent luminous spots. At the push of a button, the voltage of board or starter battery can be selected, or the display can be switched-off. In case of low battery voltage rates, red pilot lamps indicate that soon battery recharging is required. The tank levels are represented in form of clearly arranged luminous bars with 10 light-emitting diodes in three colours allowing that the tank levels can be read conveniently at a glance. The displays are working continuously, since intermediate results are displayed in variable brightness. Thus, also tendencies can be recognised at once. During refuelling and defuelling of the tanks, the continuously raising or dropping display shows a direct image of the instantaneous level allowing complete control of the procedure. Also the continuous operation of the display contributes to this control. At the touch of a button, the display can be switched-on or -off, or it is switched-off automatically after approx. 10 minutes. The standard tank display on the right side of the Info Panel Pro additionally can be switched to two measuring inputs (e. g. sewage water and feces tank). Please choose for each used tank display one of the OTRONIC Tank Transmitters according to tank volume, tank height and mounting possibility at the tank from the selection table measuring sensors on page 24. Tank displays, which are not required (such as feces) are simply left free. The Info Panel Pro is protected against reverse battery and overload. The connections are easily accessible and the free ends are labelled and equipped with 6.3 flat connectors (power supply connections) and pluggable terminal screws (signal connections). Detailed installation and operating manual, as well as drilling jig for the furniture cutout are included in the standard delivery scope. The small dimensions of the front panel and the particularly small mounting depth of only 15 allow an installation at almost any location. The units vary in the arrangement of the three-colour display light-emitting diodes at the range ends and in the symbols imprinted on the front panel. The tank levels are represented in form of a clearly arranged luminous bar with 10 lightemitting diodes in three colours allowing that the tank levels can be read conveniently at a glance. The 12 or 24 power supply of the tank transmitters is effected from the display. In quiescent condition, they are completely dead. The electronic system (IP 67) is sealed and frost-proof, thus being also suitable for problematic locations, such as at underfloor tanks! All OTRONIC measuring sensors are working independently of pressure. Therefore, a falsification of the measured values in case of overpressure in the tank, pressure filling etc. is avoided. The standard delivery includes a protection against reverse battery, overvoltage, short-circuit and overload. Function: With the capacitive measuring method an insulated measuring electrode and the surrounding medium (water) are forming an electric capacitor. With increasing level, also this capacity will be increased. The electronic system evaluates this effect by means of a small alternating voltage rate and gives an electric signal to the display unit, which is equivalent to the level. Apart from the continuous measurement, the further advantage of this measuring method is its deep action and thus the insensitiveness to soiling, deposits and solids in the tank. Depending on the type of transmitter the insulated measuring electrode is executed as stick probe or flexible cord probe for various installation possibilities, tank heights and mounting situations at the tank. from inside B Tank height 30-100 cm, adjustable Measuring Sensors for Water These tank sensors had been designed particularly for level measuring of water and hydrous media (fresh water, sewage water, grey water, industrial water, feces) in metal or plastic tanks. Thus, they are universally applicable. The measuring electrode can be easily shortened to the height of the tank, and the precise full adjustment is effected by an adjusting device at the unit. In case of Tank Electrode 15-50 K also a dry adjustment is possible with the help of a scale. The Tank Electrode 15-50 K can be installed from inside or outside on the tank top. In contrast to sewage water and feces tanks (sludge fromantion), fresh water tanks can also be installed at the lower side of the tank.
