Fuelling a Green Future in Transportation

PROBLEMS WITH THE CURRENT CHARGING SOLUTIONS: Price problem The range anxiety problem Payment problem The plug problem The range anxiety problem: There is a fear that a vehicle has insufficient range to reach it s destination and would thus strand the vehicle's occupants [.Wikipedia]. The price problem: The existing charging stations are expensive both in price and in installation. The plug standards problem: There are different charging plug standards. The payment problem: The existing charging stations requires an accounts, which means multiple cards to the each charging network.

THE RANGE ANXIETY PROBLEM The current charging infrastructure is still being developed and there are limited charging options in the suburbs: To increase the number of charging stations in the cities and suburbs will require huge infrastructure investments. It costs between 40,000-80,000 DKK to set up a slow charging station and a fast charging station costs between 500,000-800,000 DKK to establish including digging and connection (Energistyrelsen 2011 rapport). There is a lack of motivation for hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations etc. to set up charging stations because there is a limited possibility to get a return of the investment.

GAS STATIONS IN DENMARK The total number of gas stations in Denmark is around 2.000 (Source: Energi- og olieforum). There are many different players in the market like 123 Benzin, F24, Haahr Benzin, JET, OK, Q8, Shell, Statoil, UnoX. It only takes a minute to fill petroleum on a car and the investment in infrastructure to set-up a gas station is fairly small. http://www.find-tankstationer.dk/ok.html

EV CHARGING STATIONS IN DENMARK AND EU The total number of charging stations in Denmark are around 388 to around 8000 EV, primarily made by Clever, EON and Tesla. Electric cars demands longer charging time with the current charging solution and building more supercharger station requires a lot of investments in infrastructure. The demand for more charging station will increase as the number of electric cars increases. The market for electric is expected to growth to consist of 35% of new car sales in 2040 (Source: Bloomberg New Energy Finance). http://www.danskelbilalliance.dk/

THE PRICING PROBLEM The existing charging stations solutions are characterized by: Being expensive to purchase, Being expensive to install, Having a high price per Kwh, Some require a monthly subscription in order to use them, They give a limited possibility to get a return of investment The average price for a charging station among the selected companies is 6.640 DKK/ 893 EURO 12.000 10.000 8.000 6.000 4.000 2.000 0 Price ex installation Source: Rentaplugs calculations

THE PAYMENT PROBLEM The current charging solutions often requires that: The EV owners to have multiple accounts to each different charging networks, The EV owners have to carry multiple access cards, The EV owners have to pay monthly subscriptions.

THE PLUG PROBLEM AC (alternate current) CEE 5 pole /CEE 7 pole Type 1 Type 3 Type F Plug types: DC (direct current) XLR CHAdeMO CCS Type 3 Tesla Supercharger The problem arises when you change car. Then you have to either change charging station or buy a new converter cable to your new EV.

ABOUT RENTAPLUG Rentaplug is a start-up company that develops charging stations. Rentaplug wants to develop a user based charging network, based on a shared economy concept (Airbnb). The project aim is to take the stress out of having an electric vehicle by selling charging stations to very attractive prices and thereby expanding the charging network. Rentaplug wants to make it possible for charging station owners to buy a charging station at a low price and rent it out and get a return of their investment.

WHAT IS RENTAPLUG? Low charging station cost. Fast installation and low installation cost: only a standard CEE 3 phase power plug is required. Modular and expandable. Very scalable (Amazon Web Services). Using industry standard IOT protocol. Payment directly in App.
