Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:- Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 10 mm Socket NOTES: Removed Parts:- Place all removed parts on a protected surface in an area they will not be damaged. Connectors:- When disconnecting connectors, do not pull on the wires; pull on the connectors. 1. Vehicle Preparation and Protection STOP STOP Fig. 1-1 STOP STOP (a) Set the emergency brake, and unlock all vehicle doors. (b) Open the hood and apply protective covers to the fender/grill area by the battery. (c) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. (d) Cover the rear seats and the interior of vehicle using seat covers and blankets. Page 2 of 20 pages

2. Seat Belt Removal from Front Driver and Passenger Seats STOP STOP CAUTION: Before beginning Step B wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from deploying. NOTE: The procedures described below are for the both the front driver and passenger seats, unless otherwise specified. (a) Remove Front Seat Track Covers. Fig. 2-1 Phillips Screwdriver Move the front seats to the most forward position. Remove the two-piece track cover assembly on each seat, by using a Philips screwdriver to remove the screw and the cover end cap. (Fig. 2-1) (3) Carefully pry the track cover (3) rearward and remove. (Fig. 2-1) (4) Remove the one-piece track cover assembly on each seat by first pulling the attaching tabs outward to disengage them, and then carefully pull the seat track cover rearward and remove. (Fig. 2-2) Page 3 of 20 pages

(b) Remove front seat bolts. 14 mm Socket STOP CAUTION: The procedure described below can affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before proceeding. (See page RS-1 of the service manual). Remove the four 14mm seat bolts from each of the driver and passenger seats. (Fig. 2-3) Fig. 2-3 Tilt the seats backward exposing the bottom side. (3) Disconnect the connectors from the bottom of each seat: For Driver Side - (Fig. 2-4) For Passenger Side - (Fig. 2-5) Fig. 2-4 Fig. 2-5 Page 4 of 20 pages

3. Front Console and Center Console Removal STOP STOP NOTE: Place the center console and attaching hardware on a protective blanket outside the vehicle following removal. (a) Remove Shift Lever Knob Sub-Assembly Remove the shift lever knob. Fig. 3-1 Pry up to disengage the two clips on the shift lever garnish assembly. (Fig. 3-1) (3) Disconnect the connector(s) from the underside of the shift lever garnish assembly. (Fig. 3-1) (4) Remove the shift lever garnish assembly. (b) Remove Passenger Side Front Console Kick Panel. Pry the kick panel outward disengaging the clips and remove. (Fig. 3-2) Fig. 3-2 (c) Remove Driver Side Front Console Kick Panel. Pry the kick panel outward disengaging the clips and remove. (Fig. 3-3) Fig. 3-3 Page 5 of 20 pages

(d) Remove Front Console Assembly. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws located below the heating controls (standard shift as shown in Fig. 3-4) or (four screws on automatic shift not shown). (Fig. 3-4) Fig. 3-4 Phillips Screwdriver Disconnect the Front Console Assembly by prying the six clips using a plastic pry tool. (Fig. 3-5) (3) Unplug the cigarette lighter connector. (4) Remove the Front Console Assembly. (5) Temporarily reinstall the shift lever knob. Fig. 3-5 Pry Tool (e) Remove Cupholder / Storage Trim Panel. Pull parking brake up into the park position. (Fig. 3-6) Pry the cupholder / storage trim panel upward disengaging the clips using a pry tool and remove from the center console. (Fig. 3-6) Fig. 3-6 Pry Tool Page 6 of 20 pages

(f) Remove Center Console. Remove the 10mm bolt from the front of the center console. (Fig. 3-7) Fig. 3-7 Fig. 3-8 10 mm Socket 10 mm Socket Remove the mat from the bottom of the center console storage box. (3) Remove the two 10mm bolts from the bottom of the storage box. (Fig. 3-8) (4) Remove push pins from both sides of the console using a pry tool. (Fig. 3-9) (5) Pry the AUX / IPOD jack assembly from the center console using a pry tool. (Fig. 3-9) Fig. 3-9 Pry Tool Underside of center console (3) (6) Disconnect the connectors from the back of the jacks and remove jack assembly. (7) Lift up the front of the console (3) and reach under the console to locate AUX/IPOD Harnesses. (Fig. 3-9) (8) Detach the harness clips from the plastic tab on the underside of the console. (3) (3) 4. Installing the Audio Interface Module (AIM) and Bracket (5) (4) (a) Mount the AIM to the bracket with four nuts (3) using a 7mm sockect. (Fig. 4-1) (b) Connect the 2-pin connector (4) and the 14-pin connector (5) of the Power/Audio harness to the AIM. (Fig. 4-1) Fig. 4-1 (3) (3) 7mm socket (c) Remove the two existing 12 mm bolts located on the rear of the center console structure. (Fig. 4-2) 12mm Socket (d) Mount the AIM and bracket as shown using the two 12mm bolts previously removed. (Fig. 4-2) Top View (e) Using one wire tie, attach the Red and Green cables and the Power / Audio harness to the right side of the console support bracket. (Fig. 4-2) Fig. 4-2 (4) (3) (f) Connect the Headrest Extension Cables (3) to the AIM cables and use one piece of foam tape (4) to attach the cables and Power / Audio harness assembly to the side of the console support bracket. (Fig. 4-2) (g) Using one wire tie, attach the Blue and Yellow cable to the left side of the console support bracket. (Fig. 4-3) (h) Connect the Headrest Extension Cables to the AIM cables and use one piece of foam tape (3) to attach the cables to the side of the console support bracket. 5. Routing the Driver and Passenger Side Headrest Extension Cables NOTE: Do not secure the Headrest Extension Cable until the routing is complete. (a) Routing the Driver Side Headrest Extension Cable. Starting at the left side of the center console, route the blue and yellow cable forward and to the left under the carpet, bringing it through the access hole. (Fig. 5-1) Fig. 5-1 Foam Tape SRS Wire Harness Pull enough of the Headrest Extension cable through the access hole to match the length of the vehicle s seat harness. (3) From the center console remove any slack in the Headrest Extension Cable under the floor covering. (4) Use one piece of foam tape to secure the cable to the bottom edge of the center console bracket. (Fig. 5-1) (5) Do not secure extension cable to any SRS/SIAB/HV wire harness. Page 9 of 20 pages

NOTE: Do not secure the Headrest Extension Cable until the routing is complete. (a) Routing The Passenger Side Headrest Extension Cable. Starting at the right side of the center console, route the red and green cable forward and to the right under the carpet, bringing it through the access hole. (Fig. 5-2) Fig. 5-2 Foam Tape SRS Wire Harness Pull enough of the Headrest Extension cable through the access hole to match the length of the vehicle s seat harness. (3) From the center console remove any slack in the Headrest Extension Cable under the floor covering. (4) Use one piece of foam tape to secure the cable to the bottom edge of the center console bracket. (Fig. 5-2) (5) Do not secure extension cable to any SRS/SIAB/HV wire harness. Page 10 of 20 pages

6. Routing the Power / Audio Interface Harnesses Cable Tie (a) Route the Power / Audio Interface harness from the AIM location along the passenger side of the center console. (b) Secure in place with foam tape in two locations. Fig. 6-1 NOTE: Do not strip the wire. (c) In the parking brake location, disconnect the five pin auxiliary connectors. Connect the male and female connectors on the Audio Interface Harness inline with the vehicle connectors. (Fig. 6-1) Secure with one cable tie as shown. Pliers (d) Continue forward, routing the Power Harness under the vehicle carpet to the front console area and towards the cigarette lighter connector. (e) Pull back the protective sleeve on the cigarette lighter harness exposing the wires. (3) (f) Install one T-Tap on each wire using pliers. (Fig. 6-2) Place wire in open channel. Fold connector body until element contacts wire. (3) Crimp connector closed with pliers (3). Fig. 6-2 (g) Connect the male spade connector with the red wire on the Power Harness to the T-Tap secured to the vehicle s white wire on the cigarette lighter harness. Page 11 of 20 pages

(3) (h) Connect the male spade connector with the black wire on the Power Harness to the T-Tap secured to the vehicle s white with black stripe wire on the cigarette lighter harness. (i) Continue forward routing the fuse holder at the end of the power cable and secure with one cable tie to hole on the right side of the heater box (3). (Fig. 6-3) Fig. 6-3 Page 12 of 20 pages

7. Installing the Passenger Side and Driver Side DVD Headrests (a) Passenger Side DVD Headrest Installation Remove the headrest from the passenger s seat. Side Cutters (3) Undo the protective flap by releasing the one elastic strap secured under the seat. (3) Fold the protective seat flap back exposing the three hog ring fasteners (3) on the back of the seat cover. (Fig. 7-1) Fig. 7-1 (4) Using side cutters remove the three hog ring fasteners (3). (Fig. 7-1) M1 (5) Locate the passenger side DVD Headrest identified by the M1 sticker and connector colors red and green. NOTE: Make sure the monitor is facing rearward when installing. (6) Holding the DVD headrest in one hand insert the two cables into the headrest support holes on the top of the seat. (Fig. 7-2) Fig. 7-2 Page 13 of 20 pages

M1 (7) Reach up under the back of the seat cover and pull the two cables downward as you insert the DVD headrest supports into the support holes. (Fig. 7-3) Fig. 7-3 (8) With the DVD Headrest installed and fully extended, group the two cables together and use one 8 cable tie to attach the cables to the seat back support structure approximately eight inches below the top of the seat. (Fig. 7-3) (9) Use three 8 cable ties to attach the cables to the seat back support structure approximately six inches apart. (Fig. 7-3) (10) Pull the cables down and route them along side the factory wiring behind the seat fabric. (Fig. 7-4) Fig. 7-4 (11) Use five 8 cable ties to attach the cables to the underside of each seat. (Fig. 7-5) (12) Do not secure extension cable to any SRS/SIAB/HV wire harness. (b) (13) Using hog ring pliers install three new hog ring fasteners on the seat flap of the passenger seat. (Fig. 7-6) (14) Return the passenger s seat to the vehicle and connect the red and green headrest cables to the red and green connectors on the headrest extension cable. (b) Driver Side DVD Headrest Installation Fig. 7-7 Side Cutters (3) Remove the headrest from the driver s seat. Undo the protective seat flap by releasing the one elastic strap secured under the seat. (3) Fold the protective seat flap back exposing the three hog ring fasteners (3) on the back of the seat cover. (Fig. 7-7) (4) Using side cutters remove the three hog ring fasteners (3). (Fig. 7-7) M2 (5) Locate the driver s side DVD Headrest identified by the M2 sticker and connector colors blue and yellow. NOTE: Make sure the monitor is facing rearward when installed. Fig. 7-8 Fig. 7-9 M2 (6) Holding the DVD Headrest in one hand insert the two cables into the headrest holes on the top of the seat. (Fig. 7-8) (7) Reach up under the back of the seat cover and pull the two cables downward as you insert the DVD headrest supports into the support holes. (Fig. 7-9) (8) With the DVD Headrest installed and fully extended, group the two cables together and use one 8 cable tie to attach the cables to the seat back support structure approximately eight inches below the top of the seat. (Fig. 7-9) (9) Use three 8 cable ties to attach the cables to the seat back support structure approximately six inches apart. (Fig.7-9) Page 16 of 20 pages

(10) Pull the cables down and route them along side the factory wiring behind the seat fabric. (Fig. 7-10) (11) Use four 8 cable ties to attach the cables to the underside of each seat. (Fig. 7-11) Fig. 7-10 (12) Do not secure extension cable to any SRS/SIAB/HV wire harness. (13) Using hog ring pliers install three new hog ring fasteners on the seat flap of the driver seat. (Refer to Fig. 7-6) Cable Ties (4) (14) Return the driver s seat to the vehicle and connect the blue and yellow headrest cables to the blue and yellow connectors on the headrest extension cable. Connect the other seat connectors. Fig. 7-11 Page 17 of 20 pages

8. In-Process Functional Test (a) Temporarily install the short DCC. (b) Temporarily reconnect battery negative cable. (c) Temporarily install the head unit and connect all connectors. (d) Turn ignition key to ACC position. (e) Press the power button on each of the Headrest DVD players. Verify the backlighting illuminates and the power switch illuminates bright red. (f) Open each of the screen assemblies and insert a DVD into each of the Headrest DVD players. Verify that the Headrest DVD players accept the discs. (g) Press the play button on the Headrest DVD players. Verify that the DVD video is displayed on each of the LCD monitors. (h) Install the two AAA batteries in the remote control. (i) Install the two AAA batteries in the wireless headphones. NOTE: On the wireless headphones, the A-B switch allows the user to select the audio from either the M1 (Passenger Side, CH A) or the M2 (Drivers Side, CH B). When sitting in front of the M1 screen, use the CH A switch setting. When sitting in front of the M2 screen, use the CH B switch setting. (j) Using the test wireless headphones, verify that audio from each of the DVD players can be heard through the headphones and with the correct channel settings. Page 18 of 20 pages

(k) Press the power button on the head unit and verify that the radio turns on. (l) Press the AUX button on the head unit and verify that the audio is heard from the DVD playing in the M1 Headrest DVD (Passenger Side). 9. Reassemble the Vehicle Interior Components and Trim (a) Tighten seal bolts to 42 N-m (31 lbf-ft) (b) Tighten negative battery cable/nut to 4.1 N-m (36 lbf-in) NOTE: Verify that all electrical connections that have been reconnected function correctly. 10. Final Preparation (a) Place the owner s manual and AV cables in the glove box. (b) Place the remote control in center console. (c) Place the headphones in the rear cargo area of vehicle. 11. Airbag Diagnostic Check (a) Connect the scan tool connector to the vehicle s diagnostic connector. (b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. (c) Check for Airbag ECU Trouble codes if present then clear the DTC s (Refer to handheld scan tool tester operator s manual for further details). SCION 145L 2007 - HEADREST DVD RSE Section III Functional Verifications Check: Look For: Accessory Function Checks Turn the ignition key to the ACC or Run position and turn the vehicle radio ON. Press the power button on each of the Headrest DVD players. Insert a DVD into each of the Headrest DVD players. Press the play button on each of the Headrest DVD players. Press the Power button and the AUX button on the radio. Press and release the power button on the test wireless headphones to turn them on. Press the STOP button on each of the Headrest Verify the backlighting illuminates and the power switch illuminates bright red. Verify that DVD video is displayed on the LCD monitors. Verify that audio from the M1 Headrest DVD can be heard through the vehicle speakers. Verify that the Headrest DVD accepts the discs. Verify that audio from the Headrest DVD can be heard through the headphones. Verify that Headrest DVD discs stop playing. DVD player. Press the eject button on each of the Headrest DVD players. Turn the vehicle radio OFF and turn the ignition key to the OFF position. Remove the short DCC Vehicle Function Checks Air Conditioner Fan Radio Back Light Cigarette Lighter Cigarette Lighter Illumination Emergency Flashers Check all switches on the lower center I.P. Diagnostic Codes using Handheld Scan Tool Verify that Headrest DVD players eject the discs properly. Confirm short DCC is removed. Functioning Air Conditioner Functioning Fan Functioning Radio Back Light Functioning Cigarette Lighter Functioning Cigarette Lighter Illumination Functioning Emergency Flashers Verify that all switches function properly.
