Tel +1-972-929-1100 Fax +1-972-929-1260 E-mail marketingdsdi@draeger.com FAQs for the Draeger Interlock 7000 What is an ignition interlock? An ignition interlock device (IID) is a breath alcohol analysis device with a vehicle immobilizer that is installed in a motor vehicle. The interlock prevents a driver from starting a vehicle if the driver s breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is at or above a pre-set fail level. If the BrAC is under the pre-set fail level, the IID will allow the ignition of the vehicle to start the engine. If a valid breath sample is not provided, or if the BrAC is at or above the pre-set fail level, the ignition remains disabled, thus preventing the engine from being started. The interlock system records a variety of information including dates, times, test results, engine-runs, and engine-offs. This data is provided to designated authorities and used to determine compliance with the respective interlock program. How does it work? The device will be activated once the key has been put into the vehicle s ignition and the ignition is turned on. The device will prompt the driver to blow into the device, providing a breath sample. If the breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) analyzed in the breath sample is below the pre-set fail level, the engine can then be started. If the BrAC is at or above the pre-set fail level, the ignition will be disabled and the vehicle will not start. The IID will Lockout for a short period of time. Once this period has expired, another breath sample can be provided. At random times during vehicle operation, the IID will prompt the driver to provide another breath sample or a rolling retest. If the breath sample for the retest is failed or missed, the IID will log the event as a violation, warn the driver. In some cases this will start an alarm (lights flashing, horn honking, etc.) until the ignition is turned off or a valid breath sample is provided. What is the process of having the IID installed, monitored and removed? o o o Installation: Once an individual has an IID restriction, an appointment is scheduled with a Service Center for installation of the IID. At the initial installation, the participant will be trained on how to use the device and the applicable program requirements. Monitoring: The IID will be monitored regularly (usually once a month or every two months) for IID data upload and device calibration. Removal: Once the order has been issued removing the IID restriction, the participant can then schedule a removal appointment. Draeger, Inc. 4040 W. Royal Lane Suite 136 Irving, TX 75063 Tel +1 972 929-1100 Fax +1 972 929-1260

Page 2 / 7 How long does it take to install/remove the interlock? Installation and removal times for the Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. interlock devices vary by service provider and vehicle type. The average installation time is approximately 2 hours and the average removal time is roughly half an hour. What information is provided to the user at the orientation? Each participant is provided with a user manual and some basic instructions at the time of device installation. Please refer the user to the participant lease/service contract for a detailed list of covered items. May the participant have a copy of the user manual, user video, contract/lease agreement, or reports? One copy of the user manual is provided to the interlock lessee at the time of installation, so refer to that user for access to that copy. Lease agreements and service contracts are provided by the Service Center where the device is installed. Copies should be provided to the lessee at the time of signing. User manuals and videos are copyrighted material and not intended for public distribution beyond the participant. The training videos are available for reference on the www.draeger.com website. Interlock data reports are provided to the appropriate monitoring authority and should be obtained directly from them. Upon application to Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. and receipt of appropriate approvals (including user consent and any necessary state approvals), copies of reports can be provided to certain licensed professionals (such as attorneys, health care providers, and counselors) for a fee. How much does it cost? Every state and IID manufacturer set different prices, though additional fees may apply for installation, calibrations, maintenance, or violations. What are the benefits? The most important benefit is keeping intoxicated drivers from operating a motor vehicle. An IID allows DUI offenders who refrain from driving while intoxicated to retain their driving privileges for the duration of their probation. Can the user bypass the device? The IID technology is designed to prevent bypass, and to notify authorities if an attempt to circumvent the device is detected. A violation would be recorded at that time.

Page 3 / 7 Can a participant s attorney or other agent take the vehicle for the user for service? No. Attorneys and other agents may not pick up the car for their clients. All users must be present in person for the interlock installation to sign the applicable contracts and receive the applicable instructions. Can cause a failure? Only ethyl alcohol is sure to cause a failure of the Interlock. However, to ensure a valid breath test, Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. advises abstaining from eating, drinking any fluids (with the exception of water), or smoking for at least 15 minutes prior to providing an initial breath test. The same deprivation period applies to the use of mouthwash, cough syrup or other medications containing alcohol, perfumes, and colognes. Because the interlock might require a rolling retest, users should not eat, drink (with exception of water), or smoke while driving the car. Do we provide the participant with a list of substances that can cause a false reading? No. Please refer the participant to the user manual for the warning against eating, drinking any fluids with the exception of water, or smoking within 15 minutes prior to providing an initial breath test. What if the vehicle stalls in traffic? The IID will allow the ignition to be restarted without providing a breath test for a couple of minutes following the engine s cease of operation. This will allow the driver a sufficient amount of time to quickly restart the engine. Will the unit shut off the engine? No. An IID does not shut off a vehicle s engine or stop it abruptly in its tracks. If a retest is failed or if the retest is not presented when required, a violation will be recorded and the vehicle s horn may sound and the lights may flash until either the breath test is passed or the vehicle is turned off by the driver. What is the lockout set-point? (At what level will the interlock detect alcohol and record a failure?) Interlock lockout set points are determined by state laws and rules of the particular jurisdiction. Participants should check with a legal advisor in their state for guidance on the lockout set point and other local requirements.

Page 4 / 7 Is anyone else allowed to drive the vehicle? State laws vary on whether persons other than the interlock program participant are allowed to drive a vehicle with an installed interlock device. Participants should check with a legal advisor in your state for guidance on this and other questions relating to local laws and DUI procedures. Who can or will have access to the ignition interlock information? The appropriate monitoring or other government/judicial agency will have access to the information. Do we also install the interlock for clients stopped for drugged-driving offenses? No. The interlock is only used for breath alcohol detection, not drug detection. However, if a court orders an ignition interlock for a drugged driving offense, then use of the device will be subject to the same rules as a DUI offender. What should the participant do if the device is stolen? If the device is stolen, a participant should contact his or her Service Provider as soon as possible. Whom should the participant contact if something is wrong with the device and the car will not start? Should any questions arise during the use of the interlock, a participant should contact his or her Service Provider. May I use an e-cigarette prior to blowing into the interlock? A participant should not blow the smoke directly into the interlock and should wait for a minimum of two minutes after smoking an e-cigarette. How is the Interlock 7000 different from the Interlock XT? The Interlock 7000 has all the great features of the XT (ability to function in extreme temperatures, simple breath pattern requirements, reliability, and more) but offers even faster warm-up time and analysis times, a rear mouthpiece, and an improved user interface.

Page 5 / 7 Is the installation process the same for the Interlock 7000 as for the Interlock XT? Yes, the interlock installation process is primarily the same; however, installation may take a bit longer in some cases. For instance, swapping a user s Interlock XT for an Interlock 7000 could take anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour and a half. Can the Interlock 7000 be used without a camera? This unit is designed as a system with an integrated camera. When does the Interlock 7000 take a picture? The camera will take a picture of all tests as required by state regulations. Does the camera on the 7000 take pictures only when taking a test, or throughout the drive? The camera takes pictures according to the regulations of the user s state or county. What type of pictures does the camera take? The camera takes black and white images. Does the camera make a flash at night? There is no flash; at night it uses infrared light to illuminate the picture. Where on the windshield is the camera placed? The camera is placed on the left corner of the windshield. Is the unit compatible with extreme climate temperatures, such as ice storms? The Interlock 7000 is compatible with extreme temperatures and maintains a fast warm-up time and analysis time, even in cold weather. Can the unit be detached during inclement weather? Yes, according to the regulations of the user s state or county. Is the device waterproof? No, it is an electronic device and should be treated with this in mind.

Page 6 / 7 Why does the insurance for the 7000 cost more than the insurance for the XT? The insurance on the XT does not cover the camera module, while the insurance on the 7000 covers the entire system (all modules). With the new technology on the 7000, is the information sent faster to the reporting department? This depends on the regulations of the user s state. If there is a GPS installed, what is tracked? Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. only tracks what is required or necessary to remain compliant with the state regulations, and the GPS tracking feature will be monitored according to the regulations of the user s state or county. Will I be charged for a data plan with the GPS installed? No, everything is included in the user s monthly fee. Will Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. pay for repairs associated with stolen, lost, or damaged Interlock 7000 units? Insurance is available to purchase, but Draeger Safety Diagnostics, Inc. is not responsible for this type of damage or loss. This insurance is called the Theft Protection Plan. What is covered in the optional insurance (Theft Protection Plan)? For the Interlock 7000, the monthly fee covers all components of the system, including a camera or GPS module, if installed. Why does the display show Test Failed, without informing the user why the test failed? This feature is not part of the product design and is not required by appropriate monitoring agency. What if the user needs to travel while the Interlock 7000 is installed in his or her vehicle? The participant should inform his or her service technician prior to any travel to determine if there will be service available from another service center if needed.

Page 7 / 7 May I disconnect the handset from the cable while driving? No, the handset should not be disconnected while the engine is running. Users are prohibited from tampering with or otherwise bypassing the device.
