DESCRIPTION P4297 The Excel bath/shower Mixers are single control lever operated mixers for baths. They can be either wall or deck mounted. SAFETY : WARNINGS Mira products are precision-engineered and should give continued superior and safe performance, provided: 1. They are installed, commissioned, operated and maintained in accordance with the recommendations given in this Manual. 2. Periodic attention is given, as necessary, to maintain the product in good functional order. Recommended guidelines are given in the MAINTENANCE section. Carefully inspect the new fixture for any signs of damage. When installing Mira Products, manufacturers guidelines for power tool safety should be followed. 4

SPECIFICATION P4297 Pressures The minimum recommended operating pressure is 1.0 bar to enable correction of the bath shower divertor. Plumbing Connections Hot (H) and Cold (C) inlets must be connected to the correct inlet supplies. 7
INSTALLATION P4297 Before You Begin 1. Turn off the water supply. 2. The plumbing installation must comply with Water Supply Regulations/Bye-laws (Scotland), Building Regulations or any particular regulations and practices, specified by the local water company or water undertakers. The installation should be carried out by a plumber or contractor who is registered with, or is a member of an association such as: Institute of Plumbing (IOP), throughout the UK. National Association of Plumbing, Heating and Mechanical Services Contractors (NAPH & MSC), England and Wales. Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation (SNIPEF), Scotland and Northern Ireland. 3. Install the mixer before installing the bath (except wall mount). 4. Before installation carefully inspect the new fixture for any signs of damage. 8
Install the Mixer (Deck Mount) Seal Pillar Connectors Mixer Assembly P4297030 1. Position the seals into the mounting nuts on the back of the mixer. 2. Screw the two pillar connectors into the mixer hand tight. 9
Sealing Plate Apply Sealant Washer Locknut P4297040 3. Place the sealing plates over the threaded section of the column connectors. 4. Apply a ring of sealant in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions underneath the sealing plates. 5. Fit the mixer through the top of the bath. 6. Install the washers and the locknuts. Use a tap spanner to tighten the nut. 7. Remove any excess sealant. 10
Install the Mixer (Wall Mounted ) Note! When wall mounting the mixer it should be noted that the product is supported by the pipework only. 1. Make sure the hot and cold mains supply are turned off. Install the connectors in the wall and connect to the hot and cold supply (hot supply to left, cold supply to right). Spirit Level 150mm P3911150 2. Make sure that the connectors are level and set at the correct distance apart. Seal Mixer P4297050 3. Position the seals into the mounting nuts on the back of the mixer. 11
Spanner P4297060 Caution! Risk of product damage. Make sure you protect the chrome plated surfaces when you tighten the nuts. 4. Align the mixer and connectors and tighten the nuts using a suitable spanner. 12
Install the Parking Socket Top Half of Parking Socket Wall Plugs Fixing Screws P4302270 1. Decide on a suitable location for the parking socket avoiding buried cables and pipes. 2. Hold the top half of the parking socket on the wall and mark the positions of the fixing holes. 3. Drill the 8 mm holes for the fixing screws and insert the wall plugs (supplied). Note! Alternatively use proprietary cavity fixings for dry lined, stud partition, shower cubicle or laminated panel walls. 4. Secure the top half of the parking socket on the wall with the fixing screws (supplied). 13
Bottom Part of P4302280 Parking Socket 5. Clip the bottom part of the parking socket over the top part of the parking socket. 6. Attach the hose to the adjustable handset and the bath shower mixer. 14

Finish the Installation 1. Install the bath and drain (refer to the manufacturer s instructions). 2. Connect the supply hoses to the water supply. 3. Connect the drain body to the drain outlet. P4297070 4. Make sure that the mixer lever is set in the off position (see User Operation). 5. Turn on the hot and cold water supply and check for leaks from both the mixer. 6. Remove the aerator from the spout. 7. Turn on the mixer lever and push lever as far to the left (hot water) and to the right (cold water) as possible, to remove any debris with a strong flow of water. Check for leaks from both the mixer and the drain. 8. Position the mixer lever to the off position. 9. Re-install the aerator. 10. Connect the shower fittings to the outlet connector. 16

User Operation Shower Fittings 1. The handset has four different spray settings (start, soothe, force and eco). b`l To access the eco setting, turn the spray plate fully clockwise. Water will flow from the outer set of holes and the flow rate will be reduced. pq^oq To access the start setting, turn the spray plate anticlockwise until it 'Clicks' (one click from the eco setting). Water will flow from the outer set of holes. pllqeb To access the soothe setting, turn the spray plate anticlockwise until it 'Clicks' (two clicks from the eco setting). Water will flow from the large diameter holes. clo`b To access the force setting, turn the spray plate anticlockwise until it 'Clicks' (three clicks from the eco setting). USER MAINTENANCE P4297 Cleaning Caution! Risk of product damage. Many cleaners contain abrasive and chemical substances, and should not be used for cleaning stainless steel, enamel, plated or plastic fittings. These finishes should be cleaned using a mild washing up detergent or soap solution, rinsed and then wiped dry with a soft clean cloth. Regularly dismantle and clean the aerators to keep water flow regular. Spray Plate Assembly External P4302200 1. Use your thumb or a soft cloth to wipe any limescale from the soft rubber nozzles and the front face of the spray plate assembly. 19
Spray Plate Removal Handset Body Assembly Outer Nozzle Ring Retainer Inner Nozzle Ring Retainer Spray Plate Assembly Adjuster Ring P4302220 1. Turn the adjuster ring fully clockwise. 2. Unclip and remove the adjuster ring. 3. Unscrew the spray plate assembly in an anticlockwise direction. The O seals will provide some assistance. 4. Remove the inner and outer nozzle retaining rings. 20

Refer to Spray Plate, Removal and Installation. 2. Remove the inner and outer nozzle ring retainers. 3. Clean the components with a stiff brush. If necessary use a plastic kettle descalent in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Flush thoroughly with water before the shower is used. 4. If necessary replace the O seals. 21
5. Refit the components in reverse order. Make sure that the O seals, and the inner/outer nozzle ring retainers are fitted correctly. Refer to Spray Plate, Removal and Installation Nozzle Ring Replacement Outer Nozzle Ring Retainer Inner Nozzle Ring Retainer Spray Plate Assembly P4302230 1. Remove the spray plate. 2. Remove both the inner and outer low capacity nozzle rings and replace with the high capacity versions supplied. 3. Install the spray plate. 22
Spray Plate Installation 'O' Seals Spray Plate Assembly Inner Nozzle Ring Retainer Outer Nozzle Ring Retainer 'O' Seals Teeth Adjuster Ring Inner Teeth P4302240 1. Make sure that the four O seals are all correctly fitted. 2. Fit the inner nozzle ring retainer onto the spray plate assembly. 3. Fit the outer nozzle ring retainer onto the flow divertor. 4. Turn the flow divertor fully clockwise. 5. Carefully screw the spray plate assembly onto the flow divertor. 6. Align the inner teeth on the adjuster ring with the teeth on the handset flow divertor. Clip the adjuster ring into position. 23
