These drives are designed for a wide range of machinery applications. Aimed at OEMs who build drives into machinery, they offer ease of installation and integration. For many applications the repeatability of the drive will have an impact on the quality of the machinery and must therefore be high. Because the drive is likely to be purchased in large quantities, the distribution costs are low. Smaller OEMs can buy an ABB general machinery drive from an authorised channel partner, whereas larger OEMs can access the drives directly from ABB. Where can it be used? The heatsink is located outside the enclosure and hence the major share of the power loss is external to the enclosure.
