Safety Safety rules Our wish is that you and those around you experience everyday life without coming to harm. For this reason we ask you to give your attention to some points to keep in mind when you are on the road with your unu. Traffic regulations Obey the traffic regulations when you are conquering your city on your unu. We understand that you will sometimes be in a hurry, but this should not mean putting yourself or others in danger. We believe that it is possible to reach your destination quickly, to discover your city in new ways, when your driving is considerate of others and you are relaxed. Take the time you need and make sure your headlight is on even during daylight hours that is legally required. When on the road with your unu make sure you have the following documents with you: identity card, insurance documents, license plate attached and your unu operating license. Driving license Your unu is certified for two persons, although you are obliged to make sure that your passenger or any luggage you may be carrying is properly secured. You may drive an unu when you have one of the following driving licenses: Class M or A1 (from age 16), Class A, B (from age 18, former classes 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 3 and 4. Safety 4

Fitness to drive When you are on the road with your unu please refrain from the consumption of any drugs or alcohol or the use of medications which can affect your fitness to drive. You would endanger not only yourself but also others! Helmet requirement When driving always wear a helmet so that in the event of an accident you are protected from the most grave consequences. Energy recovery Your unu has bi-directional energy flow. This function is known as KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and is a technology known from Formula One racing. Each application of the brakes results in energy being fed back into the battery. In order to achieve optimum range, use of the brakes should be thoughtful and anticipatory. Weather There is no such thing as the wrong weather for driving your unu. However you should pay attention when there is rain, snow or storm! When the road surface is wet or difficult this has implications for you as a driver. In such circumstances you should drive at a lower speed and with due caution. If you have to make longer journeys in the rain or if you have given your unu a thorough washing, test your brakes and apply them often enough to get them dry to ensure correct braking performance on your ride. Safety 5

Guarantee Warranty and guarantee 1 The legal warranty provisions are fully applicable. In addition as customer you benefit from a two-year guarantee for your unu and battery. If you are a business person our guarantee is extended for twelve months (see https://unumotors.com/warranty). 2 In order not to lose guarantee coverage for your battery, take it indoors where it s warm when outside it is especially cold (temperature lower than -10 Celsius). When your unu is not driven for a longer period, make sure that your battery is fully recharged no later than every two months. 3 If you or any other person not authorized by us undertakes repairs to your unu, makes modifications or otherwise works on your scooter, the repaired or modified vehicle will no longer qualify under the guarantee nor will our guarantee cover product defects which may result from such inappropriate usage or improper activity. 4 Claims for defects cannot be assigned or transferred to others. In the event that you operate your unu in a manner not conforming with the regulations, the guarantee becomes null and void. This is also the case when you enhance the performance or increase the speed of your scooter, if you exchange or modify the lighting fixtures, acoustic signals or rear-view mirrors. Such acts are punishable and prosecution can be a consequence. Do not resort to such measures and stay out of trouble. Alteration of the chassis number is also grounds for criminal and civil prosecution and as owner you will be seen as fully liable. Guarantee 6

Inspection Your unu must undergo regular inspection so that you are always safe when driving and the guarantee cover remains valid. Make yourself familiar with the Inspection Plan you received together with the COC (Certificate of Conformity). A first inspection must be undertaken after 500 kilometres with further inspections after 4,000 kilometres, 7,000 kilometres and 10,000 kilometres roughly every 3,000 kilometres but at least once a year you should make an appointment at the garage. The inspection will cover the items listed. Consult your Inspection Plan for full details. 1 Diskbrake 2 Brake fluid 3 Drumbrake 4 Brake hoses 5 Wheels 6 Tyres 7 Wheel bearings 8 Steering head bearing 9 Screws & nuts 10 Centre & side stands 11 Fork 12 Rear wheel suspension 13 Main motor cable harness 14 Hinterradbefestigung 15 Seat lock & handlebar lock 16 Lighting 17 Horn 18 Moving parts & cable controls 19 Speedometer 20 Battery 21 Charger 22 Function control Guarantee 7

Attentiveness Your unu It may seem tempting to ride your unu past stationary traffic but you should remember that this is not allowed. Always have both hands on the handlebars, both feet on the platform of your unu and under no circumstances stand up. Please avoid distractions and concentrate on your driving. Make sure you avoid running your scooter against obstructions such as kerbstones since this will cause needless damage. In traffic always make sure that you have sufficient distance from other vehicles and from pedestrians so that in an emergency you have room and time to apply the brakes. Technical data Dimensions: Weight: Akku: KERS energy recovery: Maximum load: Maximum load luggage rack: 170 cm length; 103 cm height; 66 cm width 58 kilos 9 kilos Your unu has an expanded range through energy recovery. 150 kilos 5 kilos Tyre pressure We suggest that you should check your unu regularly before your journeys. You should pay particular attention that the brakes work correctly, that the tyre pressure is adequate (between 2.0 and 2.5 bar) and that your lights and horn are in working order. Your unu 9

Battery The battery is the beating heart of your unu. Take good care of it and it will provide electrical power for a long time. It is made of lithium-ion cells with a high energy density. As a result it is not only efficient but at only 9 kilos light in weight. You can take your battery with you wherever you please. Charging Remove the battery from your unu and connect the charger unit to an electric outlet. Plug the blue connector into the battery and turn on the charger unit (the switch is on the side where the connection to the electricity outlet is located). The battery tells the charger unit when it is fully charged and the process is complete. On the battery next to the charger connection there is a press button below an LED display. When you press the button, the LED array will show the charging status (four green and one red indicates that the battery is fully charged). Brakes Generally you should apply both brakes carefully and simultaneously. Never use only the rear wheel brake and you should not set the back wheel screw so tightly that it blocks the rear wheel. Avoid an abrupt full braking, especially on wet or slippery roads or on a gravel surface, otherwise your unu can break away in a skid. Brake pads need a break-in period to achieve maximum brake power and to prevent vitrification. If possible during the first 100 kilometres try to avoid prolonged brake application and only gradually increase the intensity of braking actions. If you often drive on gravel or on streets that have been gritted you should regularly clean the brake disc with a neutral cleansing agent in order to remove any accumulation of abrasive dirt. The rear wheel is fitted with a drum brake while the front wheel has a hydraulic disc brake which calls for a renewal of brake fluid once per year. You can do this yourself or go to the closest garage. Your unu 11

Vehicle operation When your unu is delivered the battery is already in the compartment beneath the seat. When you make the connection with the cable provided the battery can function. You will hear a light click when this is the case. The charge status will be shown in the display so that you are always informed of the range your battery will permit. When close to the red zone is indicate you should recharge the battery as soon as possible. Centre stand In order to set your unu on its centre stand, take hold of the handlebars with your left hand and grasp the luggage rack with your right hand. Place your left foot on the stand assembly and pull the scooter backwards until it rests in place. Handlebar lock Turn the handlebars to the left, put the key in the lock and turn it all the way to the left in order to activate the handlebar lock. Your unu 12

Side stand Even when seated on your unu you can fold out the side stand and thereby activate a cutting off of electricity supply to the motor. When setting the scooter on its side stand pay particular attention that your unu will be stable, that the ground is firm and that the unu will stand at an angle at least 5 from the vertical and, if on a slope, facing uphill. Opening seat compartment Turn the key, noting a certain resistance, from the Off position to the left, without pressing the key into the lock (see Handlebar lock). You will hear a faint click when the compartment opens. Mirrors The positioning of the mirrors can be adjusted manually. The construction functions with a reverse screw system. Install the mirrors in the threaded inlets provided left and right on the handlebars and turn them on their own axes counter-clockwise. Adjust the positioning as required and then tighten the nut. Your mirrors should always give you a good view of the traffic situation behind you. Ignition lock Turn the key to the right to start the motor. You will hardly hear anything but the light array in the charging status display of the speedometer will show that your unu s motor is running. Turn the key to the left to switch the engine off. Your unu 13

Be alert to your unu Alertness Your unu wants to be a long-lived companion. Look after it and be alert to its condition over time. We want you to have fun with your scooter and not be inconvenienced by constant maintenance. But there are things you need to be alert to. Provided that you respect the Inspection Plan everything should be uncomplicated. However if there is any sign of a problem do not hesitate to get in touch at support@unumotors.com. Maintenance It is best to wash your unu just with water. The bodywork can be polished with a microfibre cloth. The seat should be cleaned with a damp cloth. If there is significant amount of dirt to be removed, use a soap-free liquid, for example a non-aggressive glass cleaner. Just like you, your battery does not like the cold. If you tend not to use your unu much in winter, please remember to recharge the battery to at least half its capacity every two months, otherwise it can become deep-discharged and permanently damaged. Regular charging is a condition of the guarantee. However it should be noted that your unu will not suffer in winter. You can always place it under a roof overhang or cover it with protective foil.
