Biodiesel Biodiesel is a biofuel derived from renewable biomass for use in internal combustion engines with compression ignition or other type of energy that can replace all or part of a non-renewable fuel source. Biodiesel is biodegradable, non-toxic, low emission profiles generated and accordingly, is environmentally beneficial. The use of biodiesel in the transport sector, specifically in conventional internal combustion engines, reduces emissions of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, sulfates, aromatic compounds and particulate matter. These reductions increased with increasing the content of biodiesel in the blend, so that when 100% biodiesel is used in engines can reduce emissions by up to 75% when compared with those made using conventional diesel oil obtained. 4. Specifications The technical characteristics of the product make it fully compatible to be mixed with diesel from the oil industry. Quality specifications of a fuel and / or biofuels aim to ensure that the product can be used in engines and that does not cause failure during use. The biofuel must always be visually free of undissolved water, sediment and suspended particles. (1) The values for these parameters should be set in the specific technical standards to be defined for any mix biodiesel-diesel in any proportion. The defined values should be supported by studies inaccreditedlaboratories and certified by competent authority. (2) The residual carbon should be determined for 100% of the sample. (3) It is recommended to supplement with ASTM D4625 method, with maximum levels of 1.5 mg / 100 ml to 6 weeks. NOTE: The reference net calorific value reported by the ASTM D240 method should be around 39500KJ / Kg
