The green engine from Thermo King low emission, high performance: TK 3.76 Engine life The new range of truck engines is more powerful, running at no more than 80% of their maximum output. Both oil and coolant temperatures are reduced, resulting in less component stress and less engine wear. Engine life will be extended by up to 20% and the engine will find it even easier to withstand high ambient temperatures. Noise The TK 3.76 engine has no effect on the overall sound power / pressure of the unit. Fuel consumption Although reduced-emission engines are typically less fuel efficient, this new engine is as economical as its predecessor. Hour meters indicate when service is due. How the scroll compressor works: Compression in the scroll is created by the interaction of an orbiting spiral and a stationary spiral. Gas enters an outer opening as one of the spirals orbits. The open passage is sealed off as gas is drawn into the spiral. As the spiral continues to orbit, the gas is compressed into an increasingly smaller pocket. By the time the gas arrives at the centre port, discharge pressure has been reached.
