Under the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994, any electrical wiring in domestic dwellings are to be carried out by a competent person. A competent person is someone who is approved by Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga); the Malaysian governing bodies, will be qualified with the ability to thoroughly check a wiring system for safety. They are required to issue an Electrical Installation Certificate that complies with Building Regulation requirements when the works has been completed. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Recognize the electrical wiring system Design basic electrical wiring system for electrical equipments in building Select effective protective equipments and suitable cables for electrical machinery and equipment Systematic inspection, testing and reporting of completed building wiring system Assess and ensure the electrical installation work proposed by contractors comply with the regulations Evaluate and audit if the electrical installation works performed by contractors and workers are in compliance with the regulations Ensure contractors and workers carry out electrical installation work safely to minimize the electrical hazards risks. OUR CONSULTANT Ir. Yap Chee Wah, IEM/BEM Pt. 2, P.ENG, MIEM is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He has more than 10 years of experience in the electrical consultancy services. He is experienced in housing, commercial, SREP and Feed-In-Tariff(F.I.T.) projects of different sizes and complexities. Ir. Yap is also a Registered Wireman NIL(PW4) with Suruhanjaya Tenaga. During the employment with a contractor firm, Ir. Yap worked as a Project Engineer.
