Technical Bulletin # 1054 Transmission: V4A51 Subject: No Power Above 3500 RPM Application: 1999-2000 Motero Sport Issue Date: January, 2007 V4A51 No Power Above 3500 RPM Some 4WD Montero Sport vehicles with the V4A51 transmission, may exhibit a loss of power at engine speeds over 3500 rpm. This condition may be caused by a faulty transfer case LOW detection switch. If the switch is on (indicates LOW range) in the HIGH range, the computer will limit the engine rpm. Locate the LOW detection switch on the back of the transfer case. If it is closed in the HIGH range, replace it. Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved. DS > Page 1 of 1
Technical Bulletin # 1055 Transmission: 4T60E Subject: Neutral/Shudder During the 1-2 Shift Application: General Motors Issue Date: January, 2007 4T60E Neutral/Shudder During the 1-2 Shift Some GM vehicles with the 4T60e transmission may exhibit a shudder or neutral condition during 1-2 upshift. This condition may occur intermittently and be temperature related. Verify that the line pressure and line rise is working well. Next, drive the vehicle in the D3 range and then in D2. See if the problem goes away in either manual range. If the complaint returns only in the higher gear range(s), suspect a sticking 3-4 or 2-3 shift valve. The figure shows a severely worn 3-4 shift valve. Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved. MV > Page 1 of 1

Technical Bulletin # 1058 Transmission: A4RA, B4RA, M4RA Subject: DTC P0740, Honda DTC 40 Application: Honda Civic 1996-2000 Issue Date: January, 2007 A4RA, B4RA, M4RA DTC P0740, Honda DTC 40 DTC P0740 or Honda DTC 40 can be caused by having the wrong transaxle or geartrain components mismatched with the vehicle application. Use the following information to identify vehicle and components: The 6 th VIN character is either a 6 or an 8, and determines the engine type, and transaxle gear ratios. Make sure the 6 th VIN character on the transaxle VIN tag and the car VIN match. Figure 1 shows the VIN tag on the transaxle, it is easily seen under the hood by looking down at the bellhousing just behind the radiator. Also, check the engine code, stamped on the engine block just to the right of the transaxle VIN tag, and make sure it has the correct engine. Figure 1 VIN and Engine code Copyright 2007 ATRA. Notice there is a 1 tooth difference between the two different gear sets (40 teeth versus 41 teeth). Looking at Figure 3, make sure you check the mainshaft sensor for the correct shim arrangement as follows: The Civic DX and LX with 6 th VIN character 6 (41 tooth mainshaft 3 rd gear) take a shim under the mainshaft sensor bolt tab. The Civic EX with 6 th VIN character 8 (40 tooth mainshaft 3 rd gear) does not take a shim under the mainshaft sensor bolt tab. The shim thickness is 0.050 (1.25mm). If you cannot locate the shim, a washer of the same thickness can be substituted. Even if the transaxle and vehicle VIN match, the transaxle may have been worked on before and assembled with the wrong parts. If you have one of these units apart on the bench, it s a good idea to count the gear teeth and make sure you have the right geartrain to avoid a headache later on. A mismatched PCM can also cause the same concern. Check with your local dealer for the correct PCM part number and make sure it matches the tag on the vehicle s PCM. Technical Bulletin # 1059 Transmission: U140E/U241E Subject: No 4th, No TCC Application: Toyota Issue Date: January, 2007 U140E/U241E No 4th, No TCC No command for 4 th gear or TCC, no detent downshifts above 30 mph Knock Sensor DTC present (P0330). Whenever a knock sensor DTC is set 4 th gear and TCC are inhibited and engine management goes into reduced power strategy and detent downshift timing is affected. Fix knock sensor problem. It is common for the knock sensors themselves to fail. Notes: If knock sensor DTC is cleared normal shifting and operation will be restored until PCM performs knock sensor test routine and DTC is set again. There are two PID s in scan data: OD CUT1 and OD CUT2. OD CUT1 responds to OD cancel switch (switches from YES to NO). OD Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved. MV> Page 1 of 1

Technical Bulletin # 1061 Transmission: 01M Subject: 3-4 Neutral Application: 1998-Up Volkswagen 4sp Issue Date: January, 2007 01M Subject: 3-4 Neutral Some 1998 and later Volkswagen models with the 4sp automatic transmission may have neutral on a 3-4 upshift. This maybe caused by erratic line pressure being too low or high. Normal line pressure during the 3-4 upshift should be between 100-150psi. Make sure the manual valve is adjusted. With gear selector in Park, loosen Torx screw. Using finger pressure, push manual valve link rod in until it stops. Retighten Torx screw. Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved. DS > Page 1 of 2
Technical Bulletin # It might also be caused by a computer command or faulty solenoid. Check the computer commands signals with a scanner or monitor the shifts with a signal monitor device. If no external problems are found, suspect solenoids 1, 3 or 7. Also make sure the K1 check ball is located in the valve body. 7 6 4 3 5 1 2 DS > Page 2 of 2 Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved.

Technical Bulletin # 1062A Transmission: 5R55N/S/W Subject: Skips 2nd or 5th gear when cold Application: Ford, Lincoln Issue Date: January, 2007 5R55N/S/W Skips 2nd or 5th gear when cold The transmission will work fine when the car warms up, but will not work correctly when the unit cools down. There Are two types of O/D piston availible a Single Stage and a Two Stage. Installing a two stage piston into a single stage piston cover will cause this problem. The piston may go into the cover and it will be very difficult to remove on the bench. Refer to the pictures for the correct matches. Never use the 2 stage piston in the single O ring cover. The single stage piston fits only in the single O ring groove piston cover. The ID on this cover 2.560 in. The two stage piston fits only in the two O ring groove piston cover. The ID on this cover is 2.520 in Copyright 2007 ATRA. All Rights Reserved. BB > Page 1 of 1
