Getting Started Congratulations on your purchase of the Ridetech StrongArm System. These StrongArms are designed to give you more adjustment that is mechanically locking to prevent slipping under high loads with sticky tires. They are not only stronger than the OEM Arms, they are lighter. They have integrated sway bar mounts for both FE3 (inboard) and FE4 (outboard). 1. When installing your new StrongArms, we recommend doing 1 Arm at a time. Installing the arms one at a time will reduce having to disassemble more components. 2. Raise the vehicle to a safe and comfortable working height with the suspension hanging freely. Lower Control Arm Removal and Installation 3. REMOVE 3. Support the Hub Assembly and remove the Lower Control Arm. Disconnect the Sway Bar from the Lower Control Arm. Next, remove Lower Control Arm. To remove the Control Arm, remove the Pivot Bolt, Shock Bolt, and Knuckle Bolt. The Control Arm can then be removed from the car by lowering the outer end and sliding the inner bushing end out of the mount. 4. FE3 Sway Bar Mount 4. The StrongArms have Sway Bar mounts for the FE3 (inner) and FE4 (outer). The FE4 is built into the arm. If the FE3 mount is needed, it is included in the kit and will need to be bolted to the Control Arm. Attach the Mount using the (2) included Socket Head Bolts. 6
5. Control Arm Installation 5. Install the Lower Strong Arm in reverse order of removal. The Inner Pivot utilizes an Eccentric Eliminator on each side of the Inner Mount installed on the Bolt. The Eccentric Eliminator has 3 different positions. Use the chart above to determine the orientation for the alignment desired. Insert a M14-2.00 x 110 Hex Bolt and M14 Flatwasher into an Eccentric Eliminator then through the inner pivot. Install the second Eccentric Eliminator onto the bolt along with a M14 Flat Washer and M14-2.00 Nylock Nut. 6. 6. Reattach the Shock Assembly to the Lower Strong Arm using M12-2.00 x 110 Hex Bolt, (2) M14 Flat Washer, and a M14-2.00 Nylok Nut. If using Ridetech CoilOvers, use the Shock Spacers that are provided in the CoilOver kit. 7. 7. Reattach the Spindle using a M12-1.75 x 80 Hex Bolt, (2) M12 Flat Washers, and M12-1.75 Nylock Nut. Leave Hardware loose until all arms are installed..com 7
8. Attaching Sway Bar Ridetech MuscleBar Mounting Hole 8. Attach the Sway Bar to the new Strong- Arms. These StrongArms have 3 different locations to attach the Sway Bar depending on the style of bar. It has the FE3 (inner) mount, FE4 (outer) mount, and a provision for the Ridetech MuscleBar. The FE3 and FE4 attachments are in the same location as the OEM mounts. There is a hole in the StrongArm, near the spindle, to attach the Ridetech MuscleBar. See Illustration #8. 9. Repeat for other side leaving Hardware loose until all arms are installed. 10. Rear Trailing Arm Removal and Installation 10. With the Hub still supported, remove the OEM Trailing arm and discard the hardware. 8 11. REMOVE 11. Install the Ridetech Trailing Arm using M12-1.75 x 80 Hex Bolt, (2) M12 Flat Washers and M12-1.75 Nylock on the Inner Pivot and a M12-1.75 x 90 Hex Bolt, (2) M12 Flat Washers and Nylock on the Outer Yoke. Once again, leave the hardware loose until all components are installed. The Trailing Arm uses the Camber Slug setup just like the Lower Arm. The slug that is used in the Trailing arm will be the same that is used in the Lower Arm..com
12. Toe Rod Removal and Installation 12. Remove the Toe Rod attaching hardware and discard. The new StrongArm Toe Rod will use an Eccentric Eliminator on the Inner Pivot of the Toe Rod. Repeat on other side leaving Hardware loose until all Arms are installed. 13. 13. Insert Spacers into the Heim on one end of the Toe Rod. The small end of the Spacers insert into the Heim End. Install (1) Eccentric Eliminator & M14 Flat Washer on a Hex Bolt M14-2.00 x 80 and insert it in the mount going through the Spacers and Heim. Install a second Eccentric Eliminator & M14 Flat Washer onto the Hex Bolt along with a M14-2.00 Nylock Nut. 14. SPACER 14. Insert Spacers into the Heim End on the unattached end of the Toe Rod. The small end of the Spacers insert into the Heim End. Insert a M14-2.00 x 80 Hex Bolt through the Spacers into the Heim and thread it into the OEM provision for the Toe Rod..com 9
