CHERY P5 2014 Wiring Description Fitting Instructions Tools Required Calibration The Drive by Wire kit supplied by Autokontrol must only be fitted by accredited installer as certified by Autokontrol Limited. IMPORTANT please ensure that the vehicle to be fitted with the kit applicable to this manual has compatible pedal readings. If readings are not compatible, or you are unsure, contact Autokontrol with the vehicles readings.
Wiring Description BOARD TYPE: DbWRS 09 Speed Signal Yellow with green trace wire Main Ignition Live Orange wire 0V or Earth 6mm Bolt behind passenger kick panel POT 1 Purple with black trace POT2 Black with yellow trace wire Fitting Notes PRE-INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Check all vehicle electrical systems for correct operation Ensure that the radio code is available Check all interior trim and dashboard for signs of damage Check exterior panels/trim for signs of damage Notify customer of any faults or damage to the vehicle and get relevant paperwork signed stating vehicle fault before starting Clear any vehicle error codes in the ECU Turn Ignition key off and wait for full power down (approx 5 mins) Apply handbrake, place vehicle in neutral and remove battery terminals.
INSTALLATION Remove 2 x star clips from the passenger footwell kick panel, remove door edge plastic trim and peel back carpet, to gain access to main wiring loom and 6mm earthing bolt. Locate Pot 1, Pot 2, Ignition, speed signal as per wiring description above. Strip back all connections, stagger solder joints, insulate, make good and secure all looms. IMPORTANT!!! Setting the adjustable resistor: Ignition on engine off, TCU set on INT/FREQ Calibrate at 119 Hz Press calibration button (red light will flicker and dim) Turn black adjustment knob on TCU until red light on DbW ECU goes out Put accelerator pedal to full rev position (fully down and keep in this position throughout this process) Put multimeter neg on ECU negative and positive on pot 1 Adjust potentiometer on DbW ECU to read 0.05v above pot 1 normal idle reading The adjustable resistor is now correctly set
Calibrate, test, seal and secure ECU as per picture above. Tools Required Small flat blade screwdriver Wirestrippers & Sidecutters Sealing Pliers TCU & Multimeter Insulation & Harness Tape Cable Ties Calibration Details Approximate Frequency settings: KM/H MPH Freq. (Hz) 100-119
Understanding the Test and Calibration Unit Model 5 (TCU 5) Power Lamp / LED - Illuminates when the TCU is connected to the ECU and the ignition is on. Display Use this to read off the frequency (pulses per second) and road speed (if calibrated) Operating LED Illuminates when DBW ECU is controlling the potentiometers or Fuel Solenoid Internal/External Switch switch between vehicle (EXT) and TCU controlled (INT) speed signals Calibration Control Calibrates TCU to incoming signal frequency from vehicle speed sensor Calibration Button Sets the DBW ECU to the TCU displayed frequency Adjust Knob Controls the signal frequency produced by the TCU Clockwise increases Frequency/Speed Switch Selects either frequency or road speed for internal & external signals Din Plug Connects the TCU to the DBW ECU test socket Calibrating the Set Speed Using Known Frequencies: Set the INT/EXT switch to INT and FREQ/SPEED switch to FREQ Set the required frequency on the TCU5 press and hold the calibration for 3 seconds then release. The red Led on the TCU5 will light whilst the button is depressed and extinguish when released. The DBW ECU has now been set to the desired frequency. Unknown Frequencies: Set the INT/EXT switch to EXT and FREQ/SPEED switch to FREQ Drive the vehicle until just before the desired speed then press the calibration button and release Record displayed frequency whilst the limiter is in operation for future reference. If the speed is set too low, drive the vehicle until the speed limiter operates and quickly press and release the calibration button. The speed will increase in small increments by using this method. If the speed is set too high, drive the vehicle to just before the speed limiter operates and press the calibration button. Alternatively, the TCU can be set to INT and the desired frequency can be altered by rotating the Adjust Knob accordingly and pressing the calibration button. Internal Test Start engine TCU on internal/freq Rev engine to 2000rpm Turn black adjustment knob on TCU (clockwise until red light on Dbw ECU goes out) Engine should loose revs (goes to idle) Turn black adjustment knob on TCU (anti clockwise until red light on Dbw ECU comes on bright) Engine revs should increase back to 2000rpm Check for any warning lights
