INFORMATION NOTE BNM-MTCP ISLAMIC LIQUIDITY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP 25-28 NOVEMBER 2014, BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA In an effort to make your trip a comfortable and enjoyable one, we are providing a note to assist your preparation for the programme. You may contact us should you need further information; however, this note summarizes some key points of the logistics arrangements and facilities available for your convenience. PRIOR TO TRAVELLING TO MALAYSIA 1. Entering Malaysia Visitors traveling to Malaysia must hold valid passports with a minimum validity of six (6) months beyond the intended visiting period. Since this programme is funded by the Malaysian government, through its Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), BNM will apply for visa with reference and professional visit pass on behalf of all participants, regardless of whether visa (social) is required for entry into Malaysia from a participant's country. 2. Vaccination Certificate Requirements A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is required from participants coming from or has passed through The Yellow Fever Endemic Zones/Countries. Participants must get their vaccination 10 days before departure. List of countries that are required to produce a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate when landing in Malaysia can be found at the Immigration Department of Malaysia portal: http://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-services/visa/visa-requirement-by-country 3. Insurance & Medicine Participants are strongly advised to obtain travel/medical insurance, should there be an emergency requiring medical attention or other forms of assistance. 2. ACCOMMODATION AT LANAI KIJANG Accommodation is provided at Lanai Kijang (BNM s residential facility) for one single room (inclusive of breakfast for one). Charges such as mini-bar, telephone/fax, laundry, etc, including early check-in or late check-out will be borne by participants and must be fully settled before leaving Lanai Kijang. Check-in and Check-out Check-in time : 2.00 pm (early check-in subject to room availability) Check-out time: 12 noon Late check-out (subject to extra charges and room availability) Request up to 2.00 pm No additional charges Request after 2.00 pm RM10 charged for every hour starting from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm Kindly note and observe the following Appropriate attire at all dining facilities of Lanai Kijang (no sleeveless T-shirts, round neck T-shirts, jeans, shorts or sandals/slippers) Consumption of liquor / alcohol is prohibited Participants may not bring in guests 3. MAPS TO LANAI KIJANG & SASANA KIJANG Lanai Kijang (residential facility) is located near Sasana Kijang (programme venue) and BNM Head Quarters. Please remember to bring this map with you for reference purposes when you travel, as you may need to share the map with the taxi driver to locate Lanai Kijang from the airport. If the taxi driver is still uncertain of how to get to Lanai Kijang, please request they call Lanai Kijang at 03-2618 2828. All participants are to arrange for their own transport from/to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Information regarding the transportation fare to/from the KLIA/ Lanai Kijang are as follows: Taxi RM80 RM150 (one way, estimated amount). Coupons for taxi/limousine can be obtained at Level 3, KLIA. Express Rail Link (ERL) RM35 per person single way. ERL ticket can be purchased at Level 1, KLIA. The ERL train is from KLIA to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station (KL Sentral). At KL Sentral, you may catch a taxi to Lanai Kijang. www.vipservice.com.my Online reservation at RM135 per person for one way journey. TRANSPORT BETWEEN LANAI KIJANG AND SASANA KIJANG Transport will be provided between Lanai Kijang (residential facility) and Sasana Kijang (programme venue) at designated times. You are advised to refer to Lanai Kijang Front Desk for transport information. 5. DRESS CODE Participants are requested to dress appropriately for the following events: Opening ceremony, group photography session, welcome reception, closing ceremony/presentation of certificate formal attire (men: jacket and tie or national costume; women: office attire or national dress). Course sessions office attire, no jeans allowed. Appropriate attire at all dining facilities of Lanai Kijang (no sleeveless T-shirts, round neck T-shirts, jeans, shorts or sandals/slippers). We advise you to come prepared with a jacket/sweater/shawl as the air conditioning can at times be cold. 6. LANGUAGE The programme is conducted in English and participants should be able to exchange views, listen and learn through the medium of English. No translation will be provided during the programme. 7. COURSE MATERIALS This is a paperless programme ("Go Green" Policy). We encourage you to bring along your electronic devices (USB, Laptops/ Ipads). 8. PROGRAMME ATTENDANCE AND TIMEKEEPING We hope that the programme will add value to your work experience. You will be required to sign the attendance sheet daily during the period of the programme. Participants are required to attend all sessions and stay for the entire programme. Participants should also be punctual and arrive at the allocated venue at least 10 minutes before the start of all official and scheduled events (i.e. opening ceremony, group photography session, welcome dinner, etc.). In the event of an unavoidable absence, you are required to provide advance leave notice and medical certification. Further, you are to refrain from any personal activities that may negatively affect your participation as a representative of your jurisdiction. 3
9. MEALS Food served is suitable for Muslim participants. If you have any special dietary restriction and food allergies, kindly email the Secretariat soonest. 10. INTERNET ACCESS WIFI are available at the residential facility and programme venue. Computers and printers are also available at the Business Centre, Level 4, Lanai Kijang. 11. In the lowlands, temperatures can range from 32 o C during the day to 24 o C at night. Relative humidity is high (85% - 95%), especially in the coastal areas, rainfall is common throughout the year, averaging 200 250 cm a year. 2. CURRENCY The Malaysian currency is Ringgit Malaysia (RM). One unit RM is equivalent to 100 sen. The current USD/RM exchange rate is about RM3.27 to US$1. The Ringgit Malaysia is issued in denominations of RM100, RM50, RM20, RM10, RM5 and RM1. Coins are in the form of 50, 20, 10 and 5 sen. Credit cards which are widely accepted are VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. Banks throughout the country generally operate from Mondays to Fridays from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Currency exchange services, authorized money changers and ATM machines are also available throughout Kuala Lumpur. 3. LOCAL TIME Standard Malaysian Time is 8 hours ahead of the GMT. 4. ELECTRICITY The most common plug used with electronic equipment (e.g., mobile phones, laptops) is the British three-pin rectangular socket. 4
