A Tradition of Innovation Product Information Accessories OSX45 Overheight Frame 20 30 40 45 Container sizes with OSX45 The Bromma OSX45 Overheight Frame is an automatic telescopic 20 to 45 foot overheight frame, to be used together with any kind of OEM parent spreader fixed frame or telescopic in crane, reachstacker or straddle carrier for safer and faster LOLO-handling of flats/bolsters/iso containers or overheight containers. The OSX45 Overheight Frame is attached under any parent spreader with ISO standard base measure, by the twistlocks of the parent spreader only, and acts as extended legs to the parent spreader. This means a much safer and faster handling of goods than with chains. No adjustments or additional equipment is needed on the parent spreader for attaching or detaching the OSX45 frame. No external power supply or hydraulics is needed, neither for attaching nor operation. The locking of the twistlocks on the OSX45-frame is pure mechanical design and works on gravity and lift principle. This leads to less down-time, operational advantages such as the frame is not depending on insufficient pressure on the parent twistlocks or malfunction in a hydraulic system due to temperature differences. This also has brought down maintenance time and costs to a minimum. The OSX45 is equipped with several safety features, including a PLC-based SOC system (Safety Operational Control system an electrical survey system). The OSX45 frame can be disconnected from the spreader and left on a container or on the ground, without any fixture. Note The parent spreader/crane must be allowed to telescope with twistlocks in locked position. If the spreader is equipped with SCS 2 or SCS 3 Spreader Control System, a program version update is required. Major Features Telescopic (20 to 45 foot) overheight frame for highest flexibility Safe and fast handling combined with low maintenance time and costs No external power supply or hydraulics is required Extensive safety features Can be left on a container or on the ground
Description Spreader twistlock sensor Twistlock indicators OSX45 twistlocks The Bromma OSX45 Overheight Frame has two short side profiles and one telescopic 20 to 45 foot beam that are bolted together. The twistlocks are connected to each other by chains, gearboxes and a telescopic cardan shaft inside the telescopic beam. The locking of the OSX45 frame is based on gravity and lift principle. When the OSX45 frame is connected to the spreader, the twistlocks of the OSX45 frame are rotated 90 degrees clockwise every time the spreader is being lifted, if the SOC system or STB system does not prevent it. To release the SOC system and allow the OSX45 twistlocks to turn, open and close the spreader twistlocks before the hoist. Safety Systems STB system STL system Safety Twistlock Blocking system (STB system) On each twistlock nut there is a cut-out. When the OSX45- frame is resting on its twistlocks a safety pin partly fills the cut-out space in the twistlock nut and blocks the twistlock(s) from turning. Each twistlock has also a controlpin which blocks the twistlock from locking when the twistlock is not in the correct position. Safety Torque Limitation system (STL system) If an OSX45 twistlock is prevented to twist, either from the STB system, or externally jammed, the Safety Torque Limitation system (STL system) will still allow the parent spreader to lift the OHA frame free for inspection of the goods beneath, but the twistlocks of the OHA-frame will remain open. 2
Safety Interlink system (SIL system) Both short end sides are linked together by a rod system to prevent any undesired locking through one of the short side. If the twistlocks on the other short end side are prevented to twist due to the STL/STB system, the force will be big enough to activate the STL system on both sides and the twistlocks remain in position. Application The Bromma OSX45 Overheight Frame is fully compatible with any kind of parent spreader of ISO box base measures within 20-45 foot length. All four twistlocks must be used when operating the frame. (The parent spreader/crane must be allowed to telescope with twistlocks in locked position.) SOC system Safety Operation Control system (SOC system) The SOC system allows the turning of the twistlocks of the OSX45. Activate the system by opening and closing the twistlocks of the parent spreader. A signal is sent to the onboard PLC to release a hatch for a few seconds, so that by lifting the parent spreader the twistlocks of the OSX45 will turn. The SOC system is electrically powered by onboard batteries charged by solar panels. The SOC system is also equipped with an AC socket for recharging of the batteries. It is also possible to manually turn off the SOC system. When the system is turned off he control lamps are continuously lit and the twistlocks will turn every time the parent spreader is being lifted. STE system Safety Twistlock Emergency system (STE system) If the twistlocks may be stuck in locked position, it is possible to manually open each individual twistlock. Remove the security pin inside the lower part of the leg by manually pulling it out. Lift the sliding part of the shaft and secure it in its upper position with the security pin. Use a standard block tool/spanner and turn the twistlock manually to open position. Now the OSX45-frame can be released from its goods. 3
